She always looked amazed that people liked her. She never started to look like she was pleased, instead of frightened.

Melinda was absolutely robbed in this season of Idol. This performance alone shows that she was easily the superior singer of everyone to take the stage that year. I stopped watching it when they voted her off.

I am from Sweden and most of the AI artist are miles ahead of our swedish idols and still Melinda is in a division of her own compared to the rest of the AI artists. Like many others I lost interest in AI when she was voted off.

I think this might be the best AI performance I have seen! Most of the contestants aren't versatile enough to handle this...it was like cabaret/swing/blues-soul balled up into one 2 minute performance. The woman is good!

She didn't win because American Idol is more of a popularity contest than a singing competition. Lakisha Jones was also good this particular year, but she came in fourth. Melinda came in third. The top two (Jordin Sparks-the eventual winner-and Blake Lewis) were good singers, but nowhere near this good. They had the "fan following", so they somehow made it through. I don't understand it, either...
