  • WHY WASTE ALL YOUR BONUS ROUNDS LIKE THAT!!!!!!

  • Haha, we used to play this on my aunt and uncle's NES! Kyoro-Chan was a little frog named Julius, and the game was called Castelian.

I never even beat the first level. xD it was too hard for me to play as a kid!

So, today, on this snow day, I declare that I WILL beat the first level of Castelian, even if it takes me all day! LMFAO!

  • NEBULUS was the first, the original was released 1987 on Commodore 64.

  • I don't know that much about Kyoro-Chan, I assume he's a cheerful bird or something. I'm guessing that he's just another random Japanese character that has some "happy" adventures. But like I said, I don't know much about about him. If I'm right about it, though, it's quite ironic how he is "ENTERING THE TOWER OF EYES."

  • hey it's the last level on battletoads! ;D

  • That is worst ending I've ever seen on a game

  • this is actually called Kyrochan Land the one with the frog guy is called Castelian, the bird dude is Kyrochan and i've searched years for him :L

  • 見てるだけで目が回る

  • I had this game as a kid, but the character was different.

  • it looks like 3d rotation on the nes, just concidering the hardware limmitations, not even mention that this game may be created in the past early day,s of the nes live.

  • No, it's not 3D. It's just really good coding.

  • I had this on my C64. I beat it twice or thrice.

  • nice concept

  • That is the ugliest looking bird I've ever seen.

  • @TGArthur I see Kyoro-chan weeping.

  • I have this one for the NES, is hard as fucking hell.

Never passed the 5th tower :S

  • This looks like Nebulus for Amiga.

  • The NES version of Nebulus is called Castelian.

  • I've got it on the atari st, it stars a little green dude, I've only completed mission 1.

  • Wasn't there a dinosaur or something?

  • The US version has a green blobby thing.. and a really bad looking open screen (dark colors) with different music. Seems to play the same....

  • In Europe it has a pink pig instead in both the NES and the Gameboy versions.

  • It looks pretty fun. Level 4 was far as I've gotten.

  • There is background music, you just cannot hear it with the sound effects on. Either one or the other.

  • The sound effets are probably better. It really throws off my rhythm when I can't hear what I'm doing :P

  • The sound designers used all four sound channels to do the music, so there was no way to get both.

  • I remember this one for game boy!

  • i like the fake mode 7 effects.

  • wow the graphics are pretty cool

  • The Game Boy Version is the worst and the scariest i have ever played. This game gives me the creeps.

  • I think it's the fact that there's no background music at all during levels. It has that feeling you get when playing something like Resident Evil and House Of The Dead... except with a toucan... and a tower with floating eyeballs.... and killer hamburgers.

  • This is too similar to Castelian for the Game Boy, and you controlled a Pig, which game came first?

  • If I am not mistaken, the GB one.

  • Castelian was the first.

When putting it on the market in Japan, the character was replaced.

This "Kyoro-chan" is a character of "Morinaga Confectionery".

  • what was the first?

  • @hisatoki And according to an episode of Game Center CX, this version of the game is one of the rarest Family Computer games.

  • I thought it was one of the PC versions under the name Nebulus that came first. Check Wikipedia. One isn't a knockoff of the other if the later version paid for the rights (sort of like how Ubisoft paid for the rights to remake TMNT: Turtles in time). The non-Nintendo versions had a different bonus stage, too.
