shamans can tank upto lv 50, they have defensive traits in their tree build, but still, you can gem into defense rating "if you want to spend ur money on it o_O" but ya, its completely possible :)

Third of all, for those of you who still don't get it, this type of tanking doesn't just require skill on Shari's part, it requires skill on the ENTIRE RAID's part.

This doesn't make sense. In order to parry you lose 30% of your threat and you have no skill to increase block chance.  Even crit immune you're still taking a ton of damage and need to have overgeared healers.

I mean I guess if you *really* can't find a tank or you just want to do it for fun, nice job and props. Just seems like a headache to get all that gear and not really be able to tank much.

Then again I've done more work for less reason. In the name of fun.

I am starting to make my shammy able to tank now..

 i am experimenting with the spec a little, since frost shock is the biggest threat builder i have taken up enough talents in elemental to get to {booming Echos} to get another 2 seconds of the cooldown reducing it to 3 seconds !

i think blizz shoud give shamans the option of tanking because they look like they will make a very kool tanking class, and they also have so much defence type totems and skills. also i think dk tanks suck... thats just what i think thow... (Pallys rock)

they have a talent that reduces the chance for anything to land a crit on them by 6%

ehh not anymore they changed that in 3.0. Elemental shields now reduces all damage taken by 6%.

but anyways im crit immune through resil. 540 def is just the amount of defense required to get crit immune (through just defense rating)

Resilience does not affect stats displayed under defense, but still reduce chance to be crit in pve just fine. We dont get any extra damage reduction benefit from it pve, its just a tool for patching crit immunity.

actually, the most incoming dmg in malygos is magic damage(breath, vortex and barrage), so you really don't need def, block, parry or anything else. he hit strong with melee and cleave, but hit slow.

well RETARDED fuck, shamans were originally planned as a tank class.. enhance was to be a hybrid melee dps/tank class then they ditched it when they realized too many people want boom boom dual wield beat yo facez off.. it can easily become a tank class again with a few talents/skills

actually we had only a single hunter to md for this encounter. We used to do this with my shaman every week but our alts dont need maly 10 anymore lol. I still come back once a month or so and kill maly, because its a fun quick raid (if you know how to tank her).

I used to struggle tanking this fight on my druid when wotlk came out, now its quite fun.

This video shows the true power of maelstrom heals when malygos EATS A SPARK at 1:30.

This causes undergeared or unprepared tanks to die.

frost shock stormstrike MW-lightning bolt lightning shield = 2800 tps fully raid buffed.

Add a rogue md and a hunter or two and it goes up to 5200 XD.

For this fight we had only one hunter but threat held amazingly well anyway

Id also like to note that maly ATE A SPARK at 1:30. This causes poorly geared tanks to die if they dont pop shield wall/last stand. I was able to withstand the nether breath by popping shamanistic rage
