  • That's Miles Davis' music playing. I love that album. Tribute to Jack Johnson.

  • funny thing was Tommy was suppose to be a giant killer he made a living fighting & dropping bigger opponents........JJ was known & is famous for whipping on white boys in days when white folk thought they were invincible. JJ pissed off the white men something serious those days.

  • If only we had footage of Burns going down....

  • what a crock.. look at the size difference,, its not like a 250 pound heavweight againt a 225 heavyweight,,, the strength difference between a 165 pound man and a 195 pound man ( both conditioned athletes) is huge. This would be like Larry Holmes fighting Marvin Hagler. Johnson enjoyed a huge reach and size advantage over most of his challengers. He wasnt that quick or great of a puncher compared to later champions, Any decent heavyweight champ after Joe Louis would have broken his face,.

  • @SuperGetitgotitgood it was very normal in these days for much smaller men to fight big men. Even this video says Tommy Burns was the smallest heavyweight champion until that time. He was practically at a disadvantage every time he fought at heavyweight. Johnson is not at fault. Burns was the champ and Johnson wanted to be champ.

  • @SuperGetitgotitgood racist??

  • @MegaAnthony031 Stupid? That's the tactic of the truly ignorant,,, if someone disagrees with you call them racist. The truth of the matter is that Johnson, a true heavyweight, fought mostly middleweights and light heavyweights in his defenses. the greatest injustice done to him was that he didn't get a title shot until he was 30. In turn though he is held up as being a pioneer in civil rights he NEVER gave a Black fighter a shot at the title.

  • @SuperGetitgotitgood i was asking.. but u did do ur homework on this topic

  • That's what I do when I'm playing Baseball Mogul; during a computer simulation, when my team is being beaten misserably around the third or fourth inning, I click on the 'finish' button rather than watch my team get torn to shreds by the computer managed team.

  • Thank you for posting this priceless video. maurice

  • That's right AfrikkanWarrior, Burns said--when it was not at all popular to do so, that world champion meant you fought everybody, even Jack Johnson--the greatest heavyweight of all times. I think he would have even dominated in the golden age of the 70s.

  • @AfrikkanWarrior tommy burns was a canadian fighter. do some research on him and you will find out he was extremely respectful to all ethnicitys. he was even married to a black women. you saying that makes you an idiot and is the reason why there is still racisism in the world.

  • @AfrikkanWarrior tommy burns was a canadian fighter. do some research on him and you will find out he was extremely respectful to all ethnicitys you racist idiot. he was even married to a black women. and johnson was with a white women aswell. watch the movie the great white hope buddy. show some respect.

  • @AfrikkanWarrior real cool living in the 1900's

  • Is that johnson's voice i keep hearing through the fight? or am i being mental? because if it is thats amazing!!! 2:14 ???

  • @TomSouthLondon That's what Johnson was saying, but it's not his voice

  • Early accounts of the film describe the final knock down of Tommy Burns. The film ends when it does simply because some editor back in the day did not like the way the fight ended.

  • WTF!! "Johnson 6 ft 1"?? He looks like a giant in all his fights. What size were the average heavyweight back then?5 ft 5"

  • @EVILSPAWN1000 The average American in the 20s was 5'7 and 135 lbs I would imagine they were even smaller in 1908

  • @EVILSPAWN1000 lol imagine klitshko in there

  • @poopmcscoopface or that freak Valuev (7 ft 2")...... I LOVE Wlad 4 shutting Hayes mouth, but i have 2 give credit to Haye 4 stripping him(Valuev) of the title, and retiring that freakshow. He singlehandedly made the HW division the most BORING division, when it SHOULD be the other way around (that`s just my preferances tho:) Jab jab.....jab....jab jab jab......jab jab.........jab jab.....jab.....jab jab jab.There.I just described 12 rounds of Valuev. For me HW division died feb.11-1990 in Tokyo.

  • @EVILSPAWN1000 yeah but klitschko isnt that exciting either

  • @poopmcscoopface He`s boring as hell! The Haye-fight was a real snoozefest, but 4 the pleasure of seeing that overcocky jerk Haye getting taken down a notch or 2 it was worth watching.Have u seen that clip of Haye running after Wlad in a mall and harassing him in the escalator?Haye dresses like a thug/gangbanger and acts like 1 too.But he DID make it a multi-MULTI million $ fight with that one stunt...... So win or lose,he was 20 million $ richer the next day.Thats more than i can say:P

  • theres no more footage because they shut it off right before he actually got knocked out because they didnt want the world to see a black man knock a white man out hahaha wow

  • that was a COMPLETE ass whipping. Johnson totally humiliated him

  • Johnson can KO a light-heavyweight. Wow.

  • Yes man

  • is this the one where the cops cut off the last seconds of tape so the world wouldn't see a white man knocked out by a black man?

  • @jwallbanger Yup, this is the one.

  • @jwallbanger Yup, this is the one.

  • What year was the narration recorded? It couldn't have been 1908

  • @Gladius314 the 1960s

  • Hao Kung Fu!

  • With all due respect to Burns he had no business fighting as heavyweight, a brave man I'll give him that but just look at the size difference. With that mind compared to today's top heavyweights some like Johnson would be the equivalent of a Tommy Burns going up against one of those Russian brothers.

  • @Freddie1980 , you know he defended the world heavyweight championship 13 times and won it against a fighter who'd already beaten johnson in marvin hart. just because he lost dont mean he had no business being there, after all, he did last 14 rounds and could have continued had the police not interviened

  • @daniellince , he did only inherit the title though

  • @lucyscul won it off marvin hart, who in truth had inherited the title, but to be honest hart was prob the top contender though not a patch on jeffries.

  • and he was heavyweight?

  • tommy burns was half an inch taller and around 25 pounds heavier than manny pacquiao
