  • on the Meike, does the shutter and aperture dial work the opposite as the Nikon grip?

  • Does it have the thing where the settings wheels turn the opposite way to the genuine Nikon ones?

  • How many GB memory card are you using? Great review by the way :)

  • @JTReviewHD I use two 16GB Sandisk Class 6 20MB/s cards (I don't shoot video.) Even with the latest firmware I have had the "invalid card" error message twice. I just reformat the card in the camera and it's fine again.

  • Love my Meiko, but is *does* have reversed controls, and if you reverse the camera's controls in the menu, it also reverses the Meiko's - therefore, they are *always* wrong.

  • I would like to THANK YOU fot this comparison, it really helped me.

  • At 9:09 you pressed the info button on the camera with the MeiKe attached. It did not display the same as the Nikon grip. The Nikon had two battery power displays stacked. The MeiKe just showed one battery..

  • Min 9:04, it doesn't show the 2 icons for the battery as it does with the Nikon grip....

Thank you!!...definitly will go for the Nikon...thanks!

  • this is helpful

  • Nikon battery grip looks like chinese fake for $70 (on eBay a lot of this grips). So you will not see any differences between one fake and another one :)

  • how about third party battery ?

    is it safe ?

thx you so much for this video, i would order it asap :D

  • I have to thank you so much for the review. Very informative. My main worry was the weight difference. Being that it is only 9grams, I decided to order one. When did you order your meike? Also, did the battery tray, clasp break off yet? That was a big issue with a lot of customers on amazon.

  • @9ballprodigy I got it in the first part of September. The lock switch for the MeiKe rechargeable battery tray hasn't broken off, but I heard about the problems with it so I was careful when turning it. I haven't really used the AA battery tray, so I can't say much about it. The Nikon's latch switch feels stronger, but I figure any little movable switch like would probably be the first thing to break no matter who makes it, so I'm careful with it too.

  • For that 200$ difference I'll buy meiKe.... allready ordered. Thank's for review.

  • u shoot JPEG ?

  • @ladduro Usually

  • Okay thank you, just in case I went to home depot and got 30lb test wire wrapped in rubber, 2 crimps and 2 key chain clips to build a secure cable. I already had the 2 keychain clips, the wire was about $2 and the crimps about $1.50. I think it'll still have a professional and clean look to it... I can send you a photo of it if you'd like... Try to find clips that mount into the original hole for the strap and it should look clean...

  • Do you know that meike MKD7000 has a reverse-dial issue? Or is it same as nikon MBD11? Thanks

  • @madhadewanto The MeiKe I have does not have the dials reversed. Expected action is normal, but I've heard some people say their clones are reversed. I'm not sure if there is a explanation for that.

  • 1st of all thank you so much for this video, I use a black rapid strap(strap that uses the tripod mount) do u think that with the Meike there is any higher risk of it disconnectingor breaking from the body, I noticed u mentioned the locking wheel having a loose feeling... I would hate to have my camera body and lens come crashing to the ground bc a $45 grip... I just ordered my Meike grip... TY in advance : )

  • @DanhNguyenster64 I will test it with a Black Rapid R7 next week and let you know the results.

  • @Muirwoody OK thank you very much, when I get mine I'll let u know too if I run into any problems, I actually had to send my D7000 to Nikon because after I updated my firmware to 1.02 my AF-L stopped working : (

  • @DanhNguyenster64 OK, I tried out the Black Rapid R7 with my heaviest combination - D7000 and Nikkor 70 - 200 VRII with tripod foot attached (but I attached the R7 to the grip). I didn't notice any difference between the way the Nikon MB-D11 or the MeiKe felt. They both seemed secure and tight.

  • @Muirwoody Btw I love black rapid I used my RS4 for a one week camping trip to Grand Canyon, Zion and Bryce national parks and it never got loose on me... The CarrySpeed I purchased for my girlfriend kept getting loose about every 2-3 hours so it needed to be constantly observed and checked.

  • thx for this, i definitely go for the original :)
