One thing always bothered me...

After you defeat the doctor / undead core, the island stops falling because the core no longer levitates it.

Then while the island is falling apart and crashing to the earth, you go and destroy the source of all the island's magic.

And that somehow magic(that it doesn't have anymore)lly STOPS it from falling? What the hell(I just blasted my way through) kinda sense does that make?

A remix only samples off the original. Often times, it will be in the remixers style rather than the original style. The odds of actually finding a remix that has the same atmosphere as the original is low because that's not how remixes are made. If it was something as simple as different instruments or an altered time scale, then it would be a cover, not a remix. That's why this isn't fast paced, it's not a cover.

That's how it is. Fortunately, I do know of one remixer who's selection matches the style of the remix. LEAF XCEED, which does mostly metal remixes from a few games. If you're into metal or just want that intense boss atmosphere, he does it well. Though, I enjoy his core remix more than his final boss remix.

Freakin' amazing. I'm a huge fan of the original game and its masterful soundtrack, but this piece just blows me away every time I hear it. Definitely gives you that "Final Boss" feeling, like you're there to kick ass and shit is about to hit the fan.

Only other remixed songs that can compare to this are Island of Eden and Mimiga Vibe. 9/10, 4/5. Great work.

Download PXTone. It's what Pixel used to make the Cave Story music. It's really easy to use and I've already started to make music for some indie games. Pixel himself had no musical training. He just put random notes until they worked. It's easy to get something to sound cool, plus it's a great start to remixing. One thing to do is to find sheet music to a song and then put it into PXTone and then add a dash of awesomeness.

That guy must have game developer companies jumping all over him. Think: the industry is booming, the hottest games being sold, and all of the sudden, this one guy from japan comes out of nowhere and nearly redefines the benchmark of the industry. The one thing that scared them, though, is that now, thousands know what a good game really is, and they seep into the industry. Pretty soon, games will have to raise their standards, like the days of Miyamoto. (yes, I just compared pixel to Miyamoto.)

@EinherjarLeo Pixel had a story, and he told it. What would Cave Story be about? The Demon Crown has been destroyed, Ballos has been freed, Misery is cursed no more, the island remained intact, everyone survives spare the few poor mimigas dead before you stopped the doctor.

As for the song, I didn't like it as much as the original, which had the immense sense of sheer awe and desperation. This one almost makes Ballos and Quote one in the same, which isn't the case.

It's in progress, but he has run into a few roadblocks. The PSP version, however, is near completion, if not done already. What he did is made 2 versions: one with updated graphics, and the origonal one. He said he put in the updated graphics to draw in people who would pass it up for it's "primitive" graphics. I'm not sure if it's going to be free, or of pixel struck a deal with a production company to get it onto selves.

The man doesn't seem to realize that he has the instincts of a musical genius. He passes it off as him, "stringing notes together until they sound good." In reality, He was doing so with a certain emotion in mind, and he expressed it in music by stringing the notes together according to his emotion.

He made the music to make the player feel what the character was feeling.

This one, for instance, is a feeling of adrenaline, but also a longing for peace.

Wow. The memories this brings back. *grin* It was wild to google Cave Story and see this come up, with that picture and everything. I did quite a lot of fan artwork for that project, and still remember being super jazzed about it, and waiting in anticipation as the music artists did their thing and I did my artwork thing.

Fun for all involved. Rewarding as well. I'm sure the artists involved love seeing people appreciate their work. :)
