This is one of the first videos I saw of them & I thought, if they put that much energy into a radio performance, I'd love to see them live! That dream hasn't come true...yet
My dad turned on the TV in my uncle's house over the summer, and was just flipping through channels. Comes across this and left it on just long enough for me to hear, "Tonight I'll burn the lyrics cause every chorus was your name." Looked up the lyrics. Discovered The Avett Brothers. Have been in love with them ever since. Long live real music. <3
About to make me all emotional and shit... just got dumped after a 2 year relationship for literally nothing. shes in college and im joining the army... all i want is to hold her but i know i gotta move forward. why does this song remind me of our happy days but crush me at the same time..? being in love is hard
In the end there, they played this vi-V-I progression. Can anyone help with the voicing with it? It's like G# - then F#7/A# to B? Really great song, totally turned me onto this type of music!
Does anyone know where I can watch/download them playing 'Laundry Room' on 'the Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson'? Youtube has removed all the links due to copyright infringement. If anyone has it and could send it to me that would be great also. Thanks.
whenever I feel like the world is a big ol' stupid hole I crawl under the sheets with my iPod, raising the volume to unbareable and funk with this song. It always makes everything better.
The one they did on CMT a few months ago was awesome too. The live version from Bonaroo is the best. TAB at Jazzfest in Nawlins was the best concert I ever seen:)
I wish this version of the song was downloadable somewhere. This song absolutely KILLS ME.. it's fantastic. I don't care much for the sound of their albums but I LOVE their live music. They are brilliant acoustic.
Yeah the tempo and crescendos are great and so many (mainly rock) influences.. that's mostly what I know though I know some country and less bluegrass but similarities rolling 'round my head: The Band, CSN&Y, Elton John (tumbleweed connection) , Beatles, how about the Everly Brothers? If someone wants to tell me their country and bluegrass influences I would check them out. Yeah now I can say bluegrass country alternative (?) is grand. Great song.
@darkwolf the "dead" in the summer of 88 was a good year..like a fine bottle of wine.
The "boys" however have hit a nerve in me like NO other band has. I don't even like to refer to them as a band, they are so much more than that. I would be proud as well to be from their home! In fact I want to retire there one day. I am blessed to be able to see them 5 times this summer and will cherish every event. They are moving fast up in the music world;
@JJWoosh2 I agree from the bottom of my heart, I am an old deadhead as well, lol. Toured with them the summer of 88 & 89, was some of the best times of my life. But these guys stir something in my heart & soul I have never experienced with any other band. They just blow me away, every single time I hear them play. Am so proud they are from my neck of the woods in NC, they are a state treasure, no doubt about it. Love it when they are home, the evergy is amazing between them & the crowd.
@fender11bender11 my pleasure - they are such a terrific band. I'm glad more people are finally getting to hear their music - and their live shows are just fantastic. So much fun and joy and heart and soul...just wonderful
@fender11bender11 Well when music is fantastic it's kind of annoying to classify it's genre into a whole other category. If you say you've got a new found love of country... you're wrong. You have a new found love of bluegrass/folk. And you just contradicted yourself by saying "who cares about what genre it's called" If it didn't matter the genre you wouldn't have said you have a new found love of country. So it does matter about the genre.
@BritttsMADferIT914 Thank you self acclaimed music critic...I think most people would agree that the really annoying thing is when people take the time to nit pick stupid crap like this....i dont want to take anything away from the music so call it what you will...i merely called it country because i've played guitar for about a decade now and the chord progression is classic country structure
@BritttsMADferIT914 In the end no one new what to call Bob Dylan's music by the beginning of '65. He didn't like for it to be labeled & over the years we now see why. Hopefully these fellow have a lot more to accomplish & who know where they will fo with the music! Just hang on for the ride & enjoy!
@timeconsumerd I don't think they are getting really good... I think they've always been REALLY good and had to record the track a specific way for the record company...
it's a shame a performance this good is wasted by bad sound balancing... the guitar was too low and the cello too high for examplee :(
