  • it's a shame a performance this good is wasted by bad sound balancing... the guitar was too low and the cello too high for examplee :(

  • That was awesome. Made me want to river dance like a mofo and throw my bra at somthing.

  • This is one of the first videos I saw of them & I thought, if they put that much energy into a radio performance, I'd love to see them live! That dream hasn't come true...yet

  • The genuine article

  • eff the three dislikes. this is gorgeous.

  • J. Kwons rhythm makes this song.

  • @dittbub they do swap beards! its this thing they do at least one of the guys have to grow out their beard then shave and switch

  • that girls parents must have seen this.

  • love this song

  • everytime i see a video of these guys on youtube its like they swap beards

  • Gold.

  • My dad turned on the TV in my uncle's house over the summer, and was just flipping through channels. Comes across this and left it on just long enough for me to hear, "Tonight I'll burn the lyrics cause every chorus was your name." Looked up the lyrics. Discovered The Avett Brothers. Have been in love with them ever since. Long live real music. <3

  • going strait to my favorites..

  • OMG I love this song...this album...this group!

  • WHAT PERSON IN THEIR RIGHT MIND WOULD EVER DISLIKE THIS?

  • About to make me all emotional and shit... just got dumped after a 2 year relationship for literally nothing. shes in college and im joining the army... all i want is to hold her but i know i gotta move forward. why does this song remind me of our happy days but crush me at the same time..? being in love is hard

  • @jessebean13 ummmm type in M&sons & Early years... been a lil longer.. an Avetts been around since Seth was born lol

  • naw..... it's Punkgrass!! Kicks ass lol

  • this is some sick shit!!

  • Hey, this is good.

  • In the end there, they played this vi-V-I progression. Can anyone help with the voicing with it? It's like G# - then F#7/A# to B? Really great song, totally turned me onto this type of music!

  • yikes

  • I heard ppl are calling it newgrass.. And I approve

  • @whanger451ci You know you're good when people create a genre to describe your awesomeness!

  • @briles24 yep, stripped down, simple, and truely talented musicians. the way music really should be

  • wow, one of the best versions of laundry room that i've heard. very tight ending! oh, how i love the avetts!

  • not country!!!! bluegrass if you must give it a title. twangy music does not have to be country.

  • sounds a bit like Mumford and sons... i love the sound

  • @goprofish1 Quite the opposite, my friend. see the avetts have been around since 2000, while mumford formed in december 2007.

  • teach me how to use, the love that people say you make

  • dear baby jesus, thank you for this band. amen.

  • Positively life-changing in every way.

  • WOW, Love this, love how the music builds. Who dislikes this?

  • That one person has never had a boyfriend or girlfriend.

  • this isnt country they invented a new style of music... its like rock folk and country folrockrty

  • Does anyone know where I can watch/download them playing 'Laundry Room' on 'the Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson'? Youtube has removed all the links due to copyright infringement. If anyone has it and could send it to me that would be great also. Thanks.

  • That. was. epic.

  • This is an excellent version.

  • whenever I feel like the world is a big ol' stupid hole I crawl under the sheets with my iPod, raising the volume to unbareable and funk with this song. It always makes everything better.

  • love this band, trying to spread the word around canada where i live to others about them.

  • o my goodness i love them so much. their lyrics are just words of wisdom and amazing. wow. :)

  • At first I was like...wait how did Jesus get that good at guitar...then I remembered its cuz he grew up with one of the best banjo players ever.

  • CAUSE EVERY CHORUS WAS YOUR NAME!!!!!! YEEEAH!!!

    fucking great!

  • This isn't music....it is a religious experience!!! How can anyone listen to this and not be moved ? (Rhetortical question notwithstanding).

  • The one they did on CMT a few months ago was awesome too. The live version from Bonaroo is the best. TAB at Jazzfest in Nawlins was the best concert I ever seen:)

  • Just great...

  • Amazing.........

  • I wish this version of the song was downloadable somewhere. This song absolutely KILLS ME.. it's fantastic. I don't care much for the sound of their albums but I LOVE their live music. They are brilliant acoustic.

  • i like at 4:51 when he says YEP! right before they go into the hootenanny breakdown

  • i bloody love The Avett Brothers <3

  • The "Boys" actually have become TRUE loves of my life...sorry honey!!!

  • Yeah the tempo and crescendos are great and so many (mainly rock) influences.. that's mostly what I know though I know some country and less bluegrass but similarities rolling 'round my head: The Band, CSN&Y, Elton John (tumbleweed connection) , Beatles, how about the Everly Brothers? If someone wants to tell me their country and bluegrass influences I would check them out. Yeah now I can say bluegrass country alternative (?) is grand. Great song.

  • I looked at the dislikes, and there were none. Then I realized, "Oh yeah, I'm listening to the Avett Brothers...of course there wouldn't be any."

  • The tempo of this song matches exactly the same tempo for perfect love making. Coincidence? I think not.

  • @kaysheaa we should hang out....

  • @darkwolf the "dead" in the summer of 88 was a good year..like a fine bottle of wine.

    The "boys" however have hit a nerve in me like NO other band has. I don't even like to refer to them as a band, they are so much more than that. I would be proud as well to be from their home! In fact I want to retire there one day. I am blessed to be able to see them 5 times this summer and will cherish every event. They are moving fast up in the music world;

  • I have to say I love this version the best!!!!!

  • It only took about 35 years for America to produce an answer to The Beatles. Yeah... I said it. Best songwriting duo since Lennon/McCartney.

  • Lyrical Genius's! Seriously, SO much talent from these guys. I can only dream to be....

  • They ARE the best live show I have ever seen...from an old "dead head", this says it all!

  • @JJWoosh2 I agree from the bottom of my heart, I am an old deadhead as well, lol. Toured with them the summer of 88 & 89, was some of the best times of my life. But these guys stir something in my heart & soul I have never experienced with any other band. They just blow me away, every single time I hear them play. Am so proud they are from my neck of the woods in NC, they are a state treasure, no doubt about it. Love it when they are home, the evergy is amazing between them & the crowd.

  • by far the only group that could name a song after a room in a house and make it good!

  • I love this song so much it's entertained me for 2 hours now.

  • thank you for introducing me to my newfound love of country

  • @fender11bender11 my pleasure - they are such a terrific band. I'm glad more people are finally getting to hear their music - and their live shows are just fantastic. So much fun and joy and heart and soul...just wonderful

  • @macfae agreed! They are PHENOMENAL live!

  • @fender11bender11 I wouldnt call it country, Id call it folk

  • @fender11bender11 they are not country. they are folk which is much different

  • @houseofaction you guys need to get a life....who cares about what genre i called it? its a fantastic song no matter what its classified as

  • @fender11bender11 Well when music is fantastic it's kind of annoying to classify it's genre into a whole other category. If you say you've got a new found love of country... you're wrong. You have a new found love of bluegrass/folk. And you just contradicted yourself by saying "who cares about what genre it's called" If it didn't matter the genre you wouldn't have said you have a new found love of country. So it does matter about the genre.

  • @BritttsMADferIT914 Thank you self acclaimed music critic...I think most people would agree that the really annoying thing is when people take the time to nit pick stupid crap like this....i dont want to take anything away from the music so call it what you will...i merely called it country because i've played guitar for about a decade now and the chord progression is classic country structure

    peace

  • @BritttsMADferIT914 In the end no one new what to call Bob Dylan's music by the beginning of '65. He didn't like for it to be labeled & over the years we now see why. Hopefully these fellow have a lot more to accomplish & who know where they will fo with the music! Just hang on for the ride & enjoy!

  • @fender11bender11

I am pretty sure they play folk.

  • so damn good

  • yes!!!!! My MOST favorite version yet!!!!

  • the only thing more impressive than this song is that beard.

  • this is what i call.....music genius.

  • you can tell that they miss their kick drum and high hats at 2:34

  • Scott has an insanely beautiful voice.

  • @timeconsumerd They're getting good at it? It's amazing, now or 2 years ago.

  • This is music. . .

  • i love this band <3

  • They're getting really good at this song.

  • @timeconsumerd just saw them them Friday night in Nashville....one of the best live shows I've seen in a long time.

  • @timeconsumerd I don't think they are getting really good... I think they've always been REALLY good and had to record the track a specific way for the record company...

  • I'm really digging the way this is filmed. Thanks so much!

  • Truly heartwarming, thank you R.

  • Excellent!

  • That was The best version of that song I've heard so far... thanks for posting!

  • i know they're the best band ever!

  • How can you not love the Avett Bros?

  • @irollerblade89 Only be avoiding them.
