  • This app is a brilliant idea. Please see Lyn's disability Mac Blog

  • Simple apps, like note-taking apps, called Ghostwriter Notes app available via majorspot[dot]com can help students with such condition.

  • I love this, it would be very useful. I wish smart phones had this app too.

  • Wow! nice application.

  • engineers like her are really working hard to give us the suitable customized gadgets that can be use according to our needs..Nice!

  • Is the app released yet?

  • Has this app been released and if so where on the app store can i find it?

  • This is awesome. My brother has cp and uses his ipad/iphone with his nose in his chair and feet on the ground.

  • @TheNapaCenter I use my nose too. Made a video

  • grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr cp is NOT a desise !

  • I love it.. Can't wait until the App is available! Keep us updated!

  • i think this app is fantastic however for someone with cerebral palsy for example it Would be a huge benifit if you could include a word prediction box at top of keyboard. This is common among other speech programs and something which would fasten he process of communication up

  • Is this app available? DevelopEase would love to learn more about it!

  • Someday Daniel might be able to benifit from this type of technology to communicate with others.

  • Great job! Great to see college students use their talent to improve lives of CP population.

  • THANK YOU!!! I have a 6 yr old with moderate CP who started to use an IPAD this summer. He is doing well with PROLOQUO2GO for communication & other apps for fun. Your app could really make general school work so much more accessible to him & others. Even just for selecting answers alla multiple choice questions. Accuracy is a big challenge sometimes. Looking forward to seeing the finished product. Great job guys!

  • what will it be called? i keep looking for it on app store but not sure what you gonna call it?

  • @Katilea69 Thank you for your interest in the app! The latest news we've gotten from the student team is that they need more time to finish developing the app before putting it in the App Store. We will post an update when we hear anything more.

  • good job urrrica

  • maybe you can add speech output in future edition so could also be used as a basic communication aid? you could add abbreviation-expansion which would speed things up alot by simply making it textexpander compatible. Any shorthands created in text-expander would then work in your app.

an extra row above the keyboard with word predictions would speed things up too, in landscape mode on ipad you be able to fit more on and with speech use it as very effective text-to-speech device.

  • Hi!

Why didn't the students only switch on the built-in "VoiceOver" in the settings/general/acccessibility?

The children with CP could use almost any app by only flipping left or right on the screen without the need of hitting the elements spot on.

They could hit the selected elements by double tabbing anywhere on the screen.

This way they could even use the built-in keyboards!

If flipping left and right isn't possible, neither, you could connect an external keyboard.

  • I posted this on Twitter and got an interesting question. "Why do they not use the ipad with built-in VoiceOver? Swiping back or forth and double tabbing? No fine motoric necessary." From DesignedByBlind

  • My son is proficient using head switches, a mouse immulator and an onscreen keyboard. This is good, but apps that are designed in the first place to accomodate would be ideal. It is my understanding that there are a few available? I was going to call RJ Cooper today for more info. I am thinking that Apple would be the source for the solution though? Anyone have Bill's phone number?

  • @DetroitCyn The student team expects to release the app on the Apple App Store within the next few weeks. Even after its release, they'll continue working on the app, but they hope that people will download it, as is, and give them feedback that will help them make improvements. They'll announce the release as soon as it happens.

  • Hey guys! Great job! This is RJ Cooper. I've been creating PC/Mac applications since *I* was in college, in 1986!!! I've created a switch interface for iPad and would love to integrate with your app! RJCooper.com is my website and the links for the way to get a switch(es) into your app is just under New Items.

Also, I have an Apple Developer Account and can put your app into the App Store (Free) if you'd like!

    Great work!

  • @rjcooper725: doesn't that mean we then have to buy your interface for this app to work for us? what happens if not in US and shipping costs more than the accessories?

I think the beauty of it been within the app is anyone in any country can download it from the apple store and it will work on their device, without needing to import any equipment./accessories from another country to make it work

  • That's brilliant! I could do wiht it on my iPhone to make sending SMS easier. will it only scan within this app or could it scan for example grids made in Proloquo2go?

Be good if could add an external button too if screen was too small to have space to press on or if person had head switch? maybe via the USB adaptor thingy that comes with camera accessory for iPad or something?

  • Thank you so much for this. It's fantastic! My daughter just began writing words to us hand over hand for the first time 2 months ago. But your app would make it so much easier for her and would probably open up the whole world for her. Is there somewhere your app can be purchased? Thanks again.

  • Do you folks have this app available inside the App Store? I would love to get this for my 3 year old daughter who has cerebral palsy. Great job and god bless!
