when I was little, they were lazy and only played a roll every few hours... Also they never filled up the damn rings every ride which sucked if you made an effort to be on the outer loop..
Nice video, looks like it's got scenes of California's gold rush painted on it and I agree, it does need to be tuned but I'm glad to see it working. An antuque carousel just isn't complete without a working band organ. I went to King's Island in 2007 and they have an original 1926 PTC# 79 (according t the National Carousel Association) with the original Wurlitzer 157 organ which wasn't working as they had taped music playing when I was there.
Their organ hasn't been working sense 2005! And the manager is just another big coaster lover! Roller coasters are fun but what about the other rides and band organs!
I'm also a band organ fan. I have heard this roll too. However, it was on the 65 key Gebruder Bruder "Elite Orchestra Apollo" organ playing 66 key B.A.B. rolls on the now closed B&B Carousell in Coney Island. Sadly, Mike Saltzstein who was the operator of the carousel passed away on July 4, 2001. The carousel operated on a limited basis after his death until May 2005. The carousel was sold to the City of New York in August 2005. It is currently under restoration.
Nicely done. Thanks for posting this! I'm a huge Wurlitzer 165 fan and I hope the Boardwalk records a CD of this organ (and I hope they tune it first!). The "Old Timers Waltz Medley" heard here is from a B.A.B. roll transcribed to the 165 scale. The tunes that make up the medley are: The Bowery; The Sidewalks Of New York; Sweet Rosie O'Grady; A Bicycle Built For Two (Daisy Bell); Comrades; Little Annie Rooney; Two Little Girls In Blue; The Band Played On; After The Ball.
is this a CD?

@anglerfly No, recorded on site. The Boardwalk doesn't offer a CD of the 165 yet, just the Ruth from several years ago.

Oh, the organ may be slightly out of tune here, but the performance it gave was lovely.
