  • do you need to put on lots of clear? because my clear chiped away because i put on to much clear

  • @LiLsweatheart1 Two thin coats should do. Remember it is better to do several thin coats than one thick one.

  • Thanks so much for the video

  • Nail polish is my obsession!

  • im not saying this in a bad way but you sound like thats ginger girl out of american pie lol :P

  • Every time I do a top coat, it bubbles. Tiny bubbles all over. I hate it! Do you know why?

  • @Neequu78 Do you shake your nail polish vigorously. The best way to mix nail polish is to roll it between your hands. Some people are taught to beat the bottle against the pad of your hand, but that creates bubbles that can transfer to your nail. That's the only thing I can think of. Is your nail polish excessively thick? It may be time for a new bottle, or you can try thinning it with some acetone or regular nail polish remover.

  • Great thankss yehh u can also get very fine brushes I have one as well they work better

  • @Sassylicious16 Thanks for the tip and the comment!

  • hey can u help me...... i have small nails so when i do french manicure it doest look good and its very hard so i needed help with that

  • The shorter your nails are, the thinner the french tip should be. You can try a thin line (about 2 mm) following the shape of the end of your nail. You may need to place tape under your nail to prevent painting your finger tip. For a line that thin, you may also want to try sticker nail guides or the French manicure pens that are on the market. I don't like them much, but it would help for a thin line.

  • 'Thank you soo much

  • No problem

  • grow them out it wont take long my only take like a week

  • ohh i thought it took like a month

  • Nail growth depends on the person and diet, and even season. But if you have strong nails and protect them from damage (use gloves if you wash dishes, don't use your nails to pry things, etc), a week or two is about right, depending on how long you want them. Nails tend to grow faster in summer, so now is a good time.

  • oh thnx :)

  • there are also brands that do nail polish for french tips.. the brushes are thin and really fine so that you can draw exact lines. i have mine from essence, and also u can get ones from bipa right now with about 10 different colours! i have a nail polish pen from essence too, but i don't like it much cuz i eventhough i put on 2 layers of top coat it always rubs off!

(i live in austria)!! hope i helped!

  • u should always use a basecoat.

i use 2 do this but now i use tape or french liners

  • That's true. The base coat is meant to protect your nail from the nail polish to help prevent yellowing. I've ever had a problem with yellowing though, and I've found that too many layers of nail polish makes it chip sooner, so I often opt to skip the base coat. It is a good idea to use it though.

  • Hi, since you have long nails it must be easy. But my nails are short and square. It's kinda hard to do a French Manicure.

Do you have any tips or help for that please??

From: your fan/someone who admires you

  • What exactly are you having trouble with? Getting a straight line? Keeping it off your cuticles? If you tell me exactly what's giving you trouble, I might be able to give a better solution.

  • i know what u mean

i have short fat ugly nails

    my tip is use a basecoat,then a natural color,a white nailpolish,and a topcoat

i personally like the essie nail polish kit (french manicure)

if u hav short nails keep the "french line" short and that can make ur nails look longer

and keep everything thin.apply a thin coat of everything.

    hope this helps

  • Thanks so much for this, i've always wanted to try this now i know how! my only problem is i have a hard job painting my right hand.

  • Yeah, that is the hard part. Just go slow and make that nail polish remover and brush your best friend.

  • ur right-handed?? me 2. its hard, hein??

  • It is difficult and takes some practice. It gets easier as you do it more often.

  • any tips on applying it without streaking?

  • I just got my first opi and I thought it was best quality but IDK it's hard for me.

  • Is the white for the tips streaking? Or are you talking about nail polish in general? I don't usually have a problem with that. Typically streaks spread out as the polish dries. Are you sure the nail polish is new stock? Maybe the store was selling old stock. Does it seem too thick? Another option is buying a different brush to use for nail polish. You'll have to clean it every time, but it might giver you better, more even coverage.

  • oh just nail polish in general and thanks! I'll try it :)

  • All I can say for that is practice and make that nail polish remover and brush your best friend. It really comes in handy when you make mistakes. I used to put a coat of pink-beige over the top, but I started really liking the stark contrast of the super white color. Thanks for the tip though!

  • nail polish remover and a brush..Never really tought of that one :) Good Tips!Great Vid. Thanks a lot

  • Thanks. Glad it was helpful!

  • wow never thought to use a paintbrush to clean up :) but i was wondering, seeing as all the whites on the tips are painted in a straight line, how do you do your thumbs? cuz thumbs are usually curved at the top and i was thinking that it might be a bit awkward if it was done as a straight line...so is there a simple way to do it such that it follows the curve of your nail?

  • I still do it the same, except I paint vertically short swipes. This gives the appearance of a several rectangles side by side. Then I go through with the paintbrush to wipe off the squared edges and give a curved line to the tip.

  • THX so much this heped me alot!!

  • All I can say is practice or use guides. Another option is to invite a friend over and do each other's nails. It is harder to do the other side, but it gets easier as you practice. This is where the brush dipped in nail polish remover REALLY comes in handy.

  • i use guides.

i love them! they help so much!

  • I'm glad they work for you. My mom and I don't like to use them. As I mentioned before, sometimes the nail polish peels off with the guide. Sometimes it leaks under the guide. Sometimes you mess up the polish trying to remove the guides...maybe I just haven't figured it out. Either way, I just find it easier to do it by hand...

  • I have a problem with polish peeling. Is this because it gets old at a certain point?

  • peeling how and where? How long have you had the polish? How long do you wear it?

  • It starts to peel at the tips when I do a french mani. I'm thinking that the polish is at least a year old and that might be it. Because When I do a regular nail color it doesn't chip. I'm wondering if it's just the white when I do the tips.

  • Does the polish seem thicker than normal polish? That typically happens when polish gets old. If that's the case, the result is that the tips you are painting on are too thick and will chip easily. Either buy new white polish, or try diluting it with a (VERY) small amount of nail polish remover or acetone until it reaches the consistency of normal nail polish.

  • I use the white pens for the tips, only problem is that sometimes if you close it incorrectly the brush seperate and it's a challenge to apply afterwards and its about 7 or 8 dollars each pen. I'm taking your advice on this, as soon as my nails are really long so I can use a regular polish. Thanks!

  • I tried the sally hansen pen, and I didn't like it. I only find it useful for touchups. The material is not really nail polish, and it's hard to remove unless it's been covered with real nail polish. And yes, it gets expensive buying those pens. What I don't understand is why no one makes those nail tatoos (like the flowers and stuff) and just make them white tips, then there's no mess at all! I should make them! Anyone wanna fund my new business venture? haha

  • They aren't really polish, no wonder they chip so easily despite the fact that I put clear gloss afterwards for more hold.

What a rip off. Thanks again, definately not buying those again.

  • WOW is that your engagement ring?? its beautiful!

  • That's actually my wedding ring. I wear my engagement ring on my right hand. They don't look good when worn together...Thanks for the compliment. Both were actually special ordered by my mother-in-law. She had them made in UAE.

  • Awesome tips! I definitely have a problem with my nail polish chipping off at the tips. I'll keep your tips in mind the next time I do them. Thanks! :D

  • I used to have problems with the bases chipping...then I starting the "push back" method. It helped alot. In fact, now when I have no nail polish at the base of my nail, it's because my nails have already grown out! haha... I get lazy to re-do my nail polish...

  • Very useful tips. I recently bought the Sally Hansen French Manicure Kit. I'm finding it rather challenging to do the French tips myself, but I do believe practice makes perfect.

  • I don't like the kits, the stickers they use sometimes pulls off the white polish...I find doing it by hand easier AND faster...

  • Ohhhhh, haha, I actually haven't used the guides. :P But yes, I see what you mean.
