Great technique, performance is too wooden though. Loosen up, pour your heart into it, and you'll be great! (And get a harpsichordist to accompany you. Piano is way too heavy.)
@J0EH3AD LOL The most funny comment ever ! Go a bit further than playing happy birthday on a 5$ plastic recorder and some universes will appear to you...
you have good finger technique, but you don't know the baroque style, and the pianist is certainly not helping. I suggest finding a teacher who really plays BAROQUE recorder
You play amazingly the flute, congrats! However, the pianist is not so good... And I agree that the piano doesn't suit very well. It must better be an harpsichord...
The person who recorded this is to blame for the disbalance in the sound. Both players are obvious amateurs and doing their best. Piano is not my favorite instrument for accompany the recorder, but there are few people who own a harpsichord en play it well enough.
Tip foor the recorderplayer: More emotion in slower notes!
I like the comment about how the piano player plays like a machine. The art of playing continuo is not well practiced nowadays I'd imagine. She has her mind too much into the arrangement and not so much into feel of the piece. Maybe just the arrangement is bad. The harpsichord with little sustain and light fast action is a completely different instrument...it has as much in common to a piano as an oboe has in common with a kazoo. Imagine beethovens concerto #5 on the harpsicord.

The microphone should be placed closer to the recorder player for this recording.
I think the pianist does an admirable job of trying to sound harpsichord-like, given tht she has only a pianoforte available. I think the pianist is in the right style by NOT using rubato and volume swells of the romantic & modern eras. May sound "mechanical" to some, but is very nice sounding to me. Thanks for sharing this performance!
Beautifully done! I was especially impressed with the arpeggiated 32nd notes. Let me know if you're ever in the Washington DC area, and feel like playing Telemann duets or something! It's soooo hard to find good players here. Really brilliant job here, though. Congrats!

@maltiskisokol just as the recorder--hehheh! They are blonds, you have to forgive them...They don't see the world the same way we do. they see it as "data", gain, etc, ...a very binary view, hence the machine-like (attempts at) expression the deliver. They most grotesque is that many of them trully believe they are somewhat "superrior" beings--lol.
@hallobaaaby They are! Nearly everything you know you got from them! What kind of art would we have if they had not created it, he?! Look around and listen around, all the master piece paintings were made by them, all the master pieces in music were made by them. What about Newton and Einstein, if you have ever heard of them?!
Very nice! This is one of the concertos I have never quite been able to manage.
I wish the camera had spent more time on the recorder player though, and less on the pianist. I am particularly taken with the image of the "dancing thumb" from around 0:48 to 0:55! I guess everyone's thumb has to be doing that sort of thing when playing this sort of passage, but I can't recall any other videos where you could see the movement so clearly.
Bravo ! This young blonde really displayed a fantastic performance in this extremely difficult recorder pieces in the world. however the pianist was trying her best to out play the recroder too, the brilliant tones produced by the recorder was over immersed by the piano. pls do it again, get another pianist.
I think the unpleasant drowning of the recorder you've experienced is the result of the piano itself, not the pianist. The recorder and its repertoire are not suitable for accompaniment by the modern piano whose sustain and timbre would be much better exchanged for that of a harpsichord.
Brilliant!!! I love the recorder sooooo much!!! xxx What size recorder were you playing??!! I play treble and tenor but couldn't see what size yours was because of the angle!! Keep up with your playing beacuse it is such a beautiful instrument.!!! x
i'm playing recorder too for 10 years and i must say: you're awesom *-* REALLY good played^^
and the piano was good too :P

Recorders really suck. I used to play on it, however as time passed I had to accept that it is weak instrument.

gute technik
