At the time this video was uploaded(early WOTLK) ret paladins were op as hell and could two shot everything while having great survivability and frost mages were balanced and had one of the highest skill caps in the game. ähm.. i'd like to say that this ret does a awesome job, in general a ret won't win again a mage, even with resistance gear and 3.1.x patch. and this is an awesome vid to see how much pressure a god mage can do, but even can he lose. Thats because Orange blow all his cds for aggressiv gameplay, if he would play more defensely and have an eye to his mana he would kite the pallie oom. that was his failure.

Casting sacred shield on urself is a stupid thing to do against a mage , if ur aim is to burn his mana u'll also burn urs , and eventually he will get the sacred shield + Shield barrier then it is hard for u to break them so that u can judge him and gain mana . But good game :)

This orangemarmalade is polymorphing too much! He is damaging the paladin to about 60% and then polymorphs him just beacuase of HoF. He burns away a lot of mana that way.

The true power of a retadin = 5:03. The other five mins was waiting to catch orange when he's oom. Because in wotlk the only way for a retadin to beat a good frost mage was to stall until the mage goes oom. All my fellow retadins that felt the pain after using judgement on ice barrier mage and not getting mana know exactly what I mean. Cata makes it easy mode 30yrd judgement and guaranteed to give mana if it hits? I think so.

@crippledmage He didn't use frost resistance on this battle, but he did use frost resistance gear on the fight against Minegi. Also, it was actually a tournament where you copied over real characters and then you could use any gear that you have in your inventory!

orange is great in arenas, not so much in 1v1s. The only way a good mage would beat a good pally in an arena 1v1 situation would be to bait the pally out of LOS. save all cds, get your health low enough so that the pally thinks he can kill you, bait him to a starting area, sheep him, bandaid/evo to get health up, then use all cds. If the pally takes the bait, you win. If he doesn't, the game will either never end or it'll end up with the mage ooming and the pally winning.

Paladins were extremely overpowered at the date of this duel (not only Retribution, Holy was also overpowered and especialy the Holy/Ret Hybrid build). At the actual state of the game a Paladin doesn't stand a chance vs a Mage (I have both classes at 80 so I'm not biased or something).

Anyway the 1v1 balance suffers big changes between game versions or gear evolution. At the actual state of the game the best 1v1 class BY FAR is Priest. A Shadow Priest is capable of beating absolutely everything

1st I dont know if the vid was speed up but to me it seemed like that and for me it's hard to follow all of orange's moves even when the match is played at normal speed. I know the vid would prolly be too long but you could have uploaded it on two parts.

2nd This match should have gone to Orange, he had from the moment when the paladin was pretty much OOM and should have just nuked the sh1t out of him.

@walterinatl Hammer of Justices were instantly blinked out of{The mage only blinked 1 time with his hoj being up, and it costed him the game}, He repentanced pretty much on CD. His LoSes were perfect, he never got kited into a bad position, and always kept his health over 30%{outa killshot range}.

I can only find 1 mistake this paladin did, when he Hand of Freedomed too soon and got Deep Frozen Directly afterwards.
