  • thought they tried to reinvent email with this, they seemed to have presented this as a social site, and it might have done better lol

  • at 2:20 does anybody know how they did the picture in pictures live presentation? As you both presenter screen are on the the projector screen? Or do you think they did it in post production? What tools would you use for picture in picture in a lice presentation?

  • You can use skype.Moar Easier

  • too bad it failed

  • this is such an awesome idea!

I can't wait, hang on, this is already out, right?!

  • ? O God

  • 1:15

FIREFLY REFERENCE!!!! (actually there are more, but you need to have Google Wave to get them)

  • the applause is ridiculous :D

  • Who want wave, pm me

  • I'm sure this has good features but this clip makes it seem quite unnecessarily confusing

  • @mistawabit You must be amazingly simple.

  • @inviktus1983 and you must be amazingly blind if you don't see all the hundred other people who have said almost the same thing as I did.. the shit is confusing for someone who has never dealt with anything like it...Fact and valid point. Period. Now go try to bother someone else with your insolence and negativity.

  • @mistawabit Well I for one found it intuitive and fairly easy to pick up. The only thing that wasn't immediately obvious was how to access public waves. And wouldn't you know it, using this mysterious device called a search engine, I was able to divine how to do what I wanted. Just sayin.

  • why not just use an IM

  • @Aber911 IM sucks

  • I have plenty of Google Wave invites to give out. Please subscribe to my channel then send me a message with your gmail address and i will invite you. Thanks.

  • this looks confusing as hell

  • Comment removed

  • i have spare invites if you want one go to /watch?v=awF61Tf9Pzk

  • can someone invite me bonepac@

  • uh what?

  • pffffffff

  • that guy looks dead

  • Overwhelmed. This is a completely different way of thinking about online communication. I need baby steps and a tutorial. This is like a whole new internet.

  • they are using win XP

    XD

  • That clapping is real cheesy

  • the people at this presentation are the nerds who are to nerds what nerds are to normal people... everything that they applauded was what they saw as a technological breakthrough equivalent to the discovery of a new planet or the curing of a disease. they made a presentation like this to announce the iphone and the people attending were gasping and cheering and making little exclamations the whole time XD

  • Its a demonstration, clapping is cheesy? Cmon!

Its not fake, it sounds fake cause this video is a cut and edited version of the full video.

  • Sometimes, when people are on a stage, and they say things that people in the audience really like, there will be applause.

Not cheesy, just a natural response.

  • It's funny the way he says, "Thank You!"

    lol

  • I just got mine and I don't really andestand it

can u guys help i'm willing to send one or two invites

  • i got one of my mate ;)

  • Geek... lol

  • hiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii

  • hiiiiiiiiiiiii ii

  • have one!!!

  • Those google wave shirts suck

  • i want invitation......

  • ЖДЕМ!

  • havent got a fucking clue what im watching

  • agreed lol

  • @fuckoff583 Me neither... :S

  • @fuckoff583 The future of the internet.

  • i am gonna do a video that actual humans can understand about google wave

  • its like a "live email client" and more, is not that hard to understand.....

  • Am I the only one whose head feels like it's going to explode from this thing? Holy shit this is confusing. And confusing is not what Google is good at.

  • Use as much or as little of it as you desire.

The point is that it will be open, you can write your own user/client which acts like a peer in a wave, and even host your own server so that you don't have to rely on Google's goodness (and host it on your own LAN if that suits your needs better). I am just learning about it and am something of a Luddite, but I think this is KEWL!

  • I got my invite yesterday :]

  • I want an invite :)

  • I want an invite!

  • guys i got 20 invites left if anyone still needs one pm me for an invite

  • heyy i want a invite

  • Can some one send me a invitation for google wave ?Please ! :)

  • THIS IS GAY

  • i know right

  • No, the clapping is not edited in, i was there during the presentation, the only reason you hear the clapping at weird moments some times is because this is a cut version of a 1 and a half hour presentation, and the sounds are mixed up a little bit

  • clap clap clap clap clap clap clap

  • LOL as you said it might have been edited in!

  • was the clapping edited in?

maybe they can donate their code to YouTube and finally fix the comment threading too?

  • google is slowly becoming SKYNET!

  • rofl!> xD

  • wave wave wave.. google is getting too big for its britches.

  • GOD BLESS YOU

  • I need wave

  • im Giving Out Invatations to Google Wave Close Beta Sending me a mail for a invite

  • Hmmm im not sure about this :(

  • Google Wave?

    Don't you mean Facebook?

  • Isn't this the same thing as OneNote?

  • Cool! Al-Qaeda all over the world will collaborate better.... :D

  • fantastic idea:)

  • Ive got someone to send me a wave invite 4 days ago. Apparently it takes some time

  • wow...wave looks fun (:

    i wanna use it!!!

  • Why is it done on a Mac? Thats basically the COMPLETE opposite of open source lol. They dont even sell their OS stand alone....

  • I don't think you really understand what Open Source is. Mac OS X is based on FreeBSD and Darwin, and they open source large parts of their projects (WebKit, GrandCentral, etc.) That's way more than Micro$oft can say.

  • Open source means the code is open to everyone and anyone can mess with it for their own needs, which then release to the public. Niether MS or Apple is open source, Apple is worse because they dont open their OS to the market, hide their code, and get all annoyed when hackers got it working on PC computers.Which is why i said its dumb they use Apple computers when they say they are all about open sourcing....

  • The OS doesn't matter - you're watching a browser remember - as long as whatever system you're using runs, IE, Firefox, Chrome, etc., you can run Wave - you can't get much more open than that! :-)

  • I love it. I think the little touches make this thing great. Yeah maybe it's a bit complicated, but something so different is bound to be hard to understand in an abridged video, which probably leaves out a lot of the explanation in favor of getting the content in the video instead.

  • this would be good for meeting minutes and that's all....otherwise pick up the phone jackass.

  • Too complicated.

  • sorry but they spent too much time on this. in 10 years what they will have titlewave???

  • Thanks for the short version

  • I don't get it; Wave is just a fancy chat browser app?

And Orkut is yet another 'social' network?

Isn't Google usually more ambitious than that?

  • yahoo messenger is better maybe the best

  • fucking nerds... i'm going to break in thousands pieces my fuc.... netbook to start living...

  • A graphical chat program...ooooo. Thought of that 14 years ago.

Good for people working on projects. Good for extroverts. I stopped chatting ten years ago.

  • 8:34 ? Who was that?

  • what a joke... this seems way too tedious and wayyyyyy too much micro-managing to send little 1 line IM's back and forth... looks like a glorified gchat... 0/10

  • GOOGLE™, ™, ™, ™, ™, ™, ™, ™, ™, ™, ™, ™, ™, ™, is a bAD JOKE

  • Sounds like a fantastic, useless application for doing what could be done more easily with a phone. Although it'll be great for giving directions to all the people I chat with who live near me (zero) or my friends who don't speak my language (zero), and it's a great modernization tool for all the people I know who will be abandoning email and instant messaging to fiddle about with this confusing, untested software (zero).

  • "The Telephone has too many shortcomings to be seriously considered as a means of communication" - Western Union, 1876.

  • You don't spend much time collaborating on large projects with a large amount of that communication in email, do you?

The phone you say? Yes, I can write down everything I get answers to over the phone, make a list of everything I said I'll do, and then photocopy that and pass it out during a meeting or leave copies for people. Or I could forward emails and clutter inboxes. Or, wow, I could just invite people to a wave.

And being able to contribute to a meeting without attending. Nice.

  • yeah, this is way beyond just a fancy chat app. i'm loving this application. it's like an all-in-one collaboration suite and works on multiple platforms... fantastic piece of work this is.

  • Google took facebook, multimedia tasks from windows, msn, twitter put in a blender and made google wave.

  • After reading some of the comments here, I wonder how Google Wave will revolutionize the way trolls fight each other :)

  • I can call you an asshat in realtime. ;)

  • Touche, fgt :)

  • lol :D

  • Hey if anyone did not get his google wave invite . You can get from here clipsbar ( . ) com/waveinvite.I am feeling lucky that i got one from there

  • Google seem to be trying to invent a solution to a problem which doesn't exist.... I can see people wasting alot of time on here not doing anything productive!

  • You obviously have not been in a real business, or have not very long. One glance and my company wants in on this. It is a problem solver, and Microsoft Sharepoint does the same thing, so they see it too. This technology is an amazing leap forward and greatly useful/innovative.

  • Sharepoint is infamous for being pure lock-in. Wave is open source and anyone will be able to implement their own without being locked in to any single vendor.

  • The difference is between people focusing and not focusing, i have been and am involved in many real businesses, employees waste time on things like this. Unless your employees are robots or have a share in the business they will easily get distracted by online applications such as this.

  • Ah, I see, but you're assuming that it will have access to such things as unproductive destractions. It looks to be that, deployed correctly, the admins can choose what an employee sees when, aka, it can be isolated to not show social networking sites and only perform office specific tasks. In such an instance, what's wrong with having fun doing productive things like managing the company website?

  • the world needs young blood...and all your children are mere fucking zombies, that's all i'm saying. by the way, i was not having a bad day and i'll apologize for the 'fat twats' bit, if you want, but i wont take anything else back.

  • how would this sort of innovation improve anybody's life in the same way a car does? this will only get more people hooked up to social networks which already are a waste of time. people should be focused on inventing something that will set their minds free so that they can actually think of productive things. AND/OR looking around trying to see how fucked up everything is because of the fact that no one really cares for anything but these stupid networks to begin with.

  • Bad day? Innovation leads to progress. This is like saying we have a horse and buggy and get from point A to B, why invent the car?

  • wow its facebook

  • no its so much better integrated together its ridiculous

  • Hey if anyone did not get his google wave invite . You can get clipsbar( . ) com/waveinvite .I am feeling lucky that i got one from there

  • Wow, I can't think of a better way to waste time than by following people's useless blathers and rants, all in real-time.

  • You use email right?

  • you don't watch ot. It's made to have a chat with a bunch of people, or organize events/products.

  • Pleasse invite me :

  • Sir, you have done a service to the world. Making long, complicated, yet important things short, sweet, and accessible to the world really makes a different.

  • Sam & Dave Special Delivery!

  • fucking NERD LOL

  • As far as email being passe for kids, gimme a break. Kids don't use email because they're IMing and texting people they see everyday: it's just one big, extended conversation that starts in school and continues at home. But not everyone needs or wants an instant reply--and not every situation calls for it. The problem I see with Wave is that people could easily spend more time communicating about a project than working on it. And if you're "online" but not contributing, people may wonder why

  • What I want to know is what's in it for Google...I think they're trying to undermine Exchange dominance as well as social media sites. This reminds me of what Apple does: Google sits back and looks at what everyone else has done (email, Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, etc.), determines what's "wrong" with them, and then develops its own communications product and is praised for being innovative. It's easy for Google to play Monday-night quarterback and pick on email, which is 40 years old.

  • "I think they're trying to undermine Exchange dominance as well as social media sites"

    It undermines proprietary lock-in.

"It's easy for Google to play Monday-night quarterback and pick on email, which is 40 years old."

You said it yourself, email is 40 years old... I'm sure the creators of email expected that it would be improved or replaced by something better at some point. I doubt they would have thought it would take 40 years though.

  • ...WHAT? Oh yeah, I remember all those emails I sent in the freaking 60s. Do you mouth-breathers know what year it is?

  • Up! Unchaste stairs mumbling the ritual of the Percy..

  • Ohhh my gosh!!!

Google is going to take over the freaking world!!!

  • nerd

  • Well, you too are on this page, sir.

  • pwnage

  • If this was a wave all the feedback in foreign languages would be translated for me. My kids barely use email at all. It all has to be live. This software will become the default email/instant message/communication system for the Internet. Bring it on!!!!

  • that is shit

  • good s**t?

  • awesome

  • Waardeloos dus.

  • Geil

  • Leuk maar willen we nog meer Informatie naar Google brengen?

  • Je kunt het dus ook op je eigen server draaien, net als e-mail..

  • Ok, dat is wel tof :)

  • quite impressive eigenlijk geenstijlers

    Hoi Geenstijl.

  • Wow.....another great tool for kids to call each other whores with!

  • Shut up whore.

  • More overhyped Google stuff.

  • ......one more group chat site. Facebook, Twitter, Email, Stickam, etc. have already done this, even though they're a bit different. I see this as very useful for an online business meeting though.
