Odor of the Day" is a 1948 animated short in the Looney Tunes series starring Pepé Le Pew. It is the only short in which he appears not as a lover; it is also the only short in which Pepe does not speak, save for one line at the end. The title is a play on the phrase "order of the day".
@Protheeus Gesundheit was said in 1965's FELINE COMEDY, of Disney's THAT DARN CAT!, by Supervisor Newton, to "Zeke Kelso" played by Alabama actor, Dean Jones.
@Protheeus hehe ;p "gesundheit" in polish means "Na zdrowie" :P so it means that they want to that the other get well. maybe i wrote this wrong cause i'm from poland :P
In Volume Five of the Looney Tunes "Golden Collection" DVD series there's a feature about the directors who didn't get all the fame and attention...Art Davis is among the several mentioned and they show a brief clip of this cartoon and the commentator refers to the skunk as Pepe so I'm inclined to believe the skunk is Pepe with a different personality given the director is Art Davis. Chuck Jones directed all but two cartoons featuring Pepe between 1945 and 1962.
I should also point out that Chuck Jones created the character as to why he directed the bulk of the cartoons. This one by Art Davis, from 1948, was at a time when Pepe wasn't as familiar as he became later on so it wasn't such a risk to portray the character differently. Pepe's first cartoon was in 1945 and his second arrived in 1947
The 1949 cartoon, "For Scent-imental Reasons", won an Oscar and from that point forward Pepe started appearing in more and more cartoons as the '50s rolled on.
@godpeace7 This version of Pepe is actually closer to Fifi, his apprentice from Tiny Toon Adventures. Fifi even uses her tail as a gun like Pepe does in this short.
I have never seen this cartoon before. I'm used to hearing the phony French and seeing the female cat/skunk, and everything. Interesting. Thanks for the post.

Dude, that dog is a jerk! D:
He's comes into someone's house then tries to kick the owner out?!
This is why you don't let people stay with you!

@Acodin100 Oh! That could be, but then again, he's still coming into someone's house uninvited. The dog has the nerve to kick someone else out. :/

This is the funniest Pepe Le Pew cartoon

This is one of Art Davis's cartoons. It's the only Pepe cartoon not directed by Chuck Jones, which is why it's so different.

@digifreak10101 Thank you for that history! I was wondering what was so different. a change in directors does account for a lot.

I doubt that this is pepe. The white pattern on his tail is different. If you notice, Pepe has a black ttrip down he middle of the top of his tail

@moviencartoons2 One word is said... in German. : ) Nevertheless, it has been disputed whether or not the skunk here is Pepe.

Maybe because there is no "petite feminine femme skunk" to seduce. :))
