Start with "The Job" or "The Adding Machine," or "Junky" or "Queer." These titles all have straight narrative writing, and many of the same themes and characters of the more formal titles. This way, you will find out what Burroughs is about... then, if you have a new buddy, you can look further into what he tried to do with literature.
