OK. I'm sorry. I'm a pretty reasonable guy but this is by far the Worst tutorial on YouTube. It doesn't work, i cant understand what your doing because god forbid you just talk and not cover up the entire screen with your damn fake annotations, and what your doing doesn't even make sense! I didn't learn anything from this. Honestly, my IQ probably DROPPED just from watching this. Like if you agree.

no it does not. well the technique does not, but if u are suggesting that only rap songs have an intro loop and a beat that is mostly repetitive throughout that is true. but the technique if done right can work on almost any song it al depends on if the instrumental DOES NOT change tempo, With this technique.... instead of finding 4bar loops then alligning them, u cantake any part/ allign with any other part then KNOCKOUT to remove parts unwanted. then yea.

@1multikentish when you installed audacity, you should go to the folder where it was installed, click to open it and the plugins folder should be there...click to open the plug-in folder and copy and paste it there, that should do it...?!

Someone mentioned karoake versions. Making your own karoake will not work with the official stuido vocal release. Frequency wavs have to be exact in order to knock out instruments and leave just the vocals. It isn't always as easy to phase noise out of these tracks. I have owned CDs with both vocal and intrumentals together yet the two were not perfect matches. At least what is shown in this video will be of some help to those who are trying to make acapellas.

Okay, I was pretty much studying this video for about 4 hours now... Just to learn that it is WAY easier to make an instrumental/karaoke version of a song first, then you can use the instrumental that you made and open it with the full version of the song then follow the last few steps without copying or pasting over and over again and you get only vocals with the same or even better quality than just copying and pasting a repeated intro. I wisht the video just showed that. 100x easier.

tru but when u make a karaoke version of the instrumental, (no matter how good it sounds) the vocal PRESENCE will still be in the audio. So no matter what u do u WILL lose some portion of the vocal. if you was to do it this way, to cut and paste untill you made a instrumental (Im talking about a loop the has NO vocals whatsoever. then when you use kn0ck0ut u could just use the default setting. then your acapella will retain all the frequencies

Then use Noise Reduction 2.0 tool in Sony soundforge. to better remove whatever left over behind the vocals. Soundforge has the best noise reduction tool. DONT use noise removal vst in audacity.......Shit sux

He finds 8 beats with no vocals, aligns inverted copies of those 8 beats into different tracks: track 2 and then another 8 beats into track 3, and so on. He mixes track 2 and track 3 into a single track so that he has 16 beats of instrumental in a single track. He knocks out one side (e.g. left) from both tracks, and combines the sides into one stereo track. Then he uses knockout on that stereo track, leaving one mono track of acapella. Needs endless repeating instruments to work.
