I've already my character with smooth bind and some blendShapes, But I wanna put him that effect of stetch in the arms and legs, Do I have to start from the beggining or what can I do, how is that called??
HOw do u do for the clusters to be correctly parented to the head avoiding bad deformation due to the rotation o te head?
For stretch the limbs use should have a look how to change the length of a joint, translation or scale, there are plant y of videotutorials or tutorials how to do that.
I rather not use cluster but joints, they are better to use, but if you wanna use clusters I suggest u not to put them in main head geo, just create a copy and use that one as a blendshape, so u can set cluster/lattice/soft/ or anything, without effecting your original head. hope this help.
@alessio11 Holy sh!t, man you opened up my mind!, thanks!
One last thing, about the joints... can I add single joints let's say around the lips... but maintaining the main weight of the rig that the character already have? or is it inevitable the normalization of the weights?
hey, man! u made a awesome rig with very good features and ideas i like this facial setup with sliders on top of the picture of the head - its really nice! and these deformers that u added to the head, and maybe other parts of the body... and the feature of clothes and hats - this saves alot of work if u re working on project with many characters just a matter of few minutes to make new character fully rigged and ready for animation! this is my goal too, but i want to do this in blender!
@alessio11 yes, i will upload and let u know, but it will not be so soon - i work with blender after work, im not professional, i was working on other programs, but from a month or so i disovered blender and was really amazed! so it will take some time to make something that i want to show! for now i learned the modeling tools and the second thing is rigging - i wish to take the automatic rigging system in 2.5 and improve some functionality - just dont want to start from scratch! peace!
Hi mate, yes you can rig your characters like this in 3dsmax, but i suggest you to use maya, any way, you can find a lot of videotutorials and tutorials to improve your rigging skills...
Yes, i did all things in maya 2008, started with maya 8.7 sp1, and then moved to maya 2008...now i'm working on maya 2008 ext2, and i'm waiting for maya 2009 ! ! !
Well, depend on what you want to do, if you want to be a character td for feature films or for games...actually maya is better for feature films but some companies use 3dsmax as well, 3dsmax is better for games...But the difference is: 3dsmax is friendly than maya, but needs a lot of plug in and is a bit limited (about rigging, unless you are good scripter)...maya is a bit tough but easier to script somethig...at the end of the day, is up to you :) Cheers
Exellent job!, I got couple of questions.
