Yeah, it's a Fender Stratocaster........circa late 1978

It's not custom though.......just a stock Strat from the late 70's.

The amp I used on this tune was a Marshall JCM 2000 DSL 401 combo amp......it's off camera though, in the video. The amp you see in the video wasn't working.

No man, I can't play with the strings upside-down like Albert King, Eric Gales, and Doyle Bramhall can.

I ran everything to my mixing board....with the audio from the mixing board, I made a composite signal with the live video from my camera, and recorded this composite signal on my computer for the youtube vid.

So basically what I did was, use the camera as a live feed for video only, and used the mixing board for the live audio feed for the vid, and recorded it all simultaneously on my computer as I played and sang....If I'd used the camera mic, the sound wouldn't have sounded as great.

It's off camera, but I'm using a Marshall JCM 2000 40watt combo amp on this. The amp you see in the vid is another Marshall combo amp, but it's turned off....I didn't use my 50watt half-stack on this one.

I dont know if your using a tube amp, I like the manic tone, song is incredible, but if not a tube amp would sound less harsh.

No, my guitar is tuned the standard way. But playing the song like I play it does allow the unfretted high E,B, and G strings to ring out a lot while I'm playing the chords. Which possibly could sound like an open tuning.

I do tune my guitar a half step low like Jimi and Stevie Ray.

For my tone in the vid, I used a classic Fuzzface, feeding into a homemade pre-amp, feeding into a Lexicon MX200 Reverb/Effects processor.

I used the detune effect of the Lexicon unit to add a faint higher octave to the guitar sound.
