  • Great vid and great version of a classic tune! As the Doctors age, their quality improves! Well done to all, and Galway looks brilliant....love the place, been there numerous times...wonderful

  • Great song - i also sang it incessantly in the 60s - am 52. Petula looks fab for her age. Wow! Downtown has done her a world of good. The saw doctors are great fun too.

  • Ok, any one out there that is my age and loved Petula back in the sixties. I was just a kid, I am 54 now. Any one out there that loves the Saw Doctors and this is just a great song and memory. God, Petula looks great. What a great song. Thank you Saw doctors.

  • Would buy it but I don't like Ray Foley. The guy is sooo bigheaded he comes second only to Ray D'Arsehole. The two reasons I don't like Today FM anymore.

  • Everyone go to iTunes and download this song make it Ireland's Xmas No 1

  • the saw doctors rule! :D

  • Do your bit for society, Download Downtown December 16th.

  • for christmas number 1 in Eire I hope

  • downloaded it, but love the video. galway is amazing

  • cringe

  • It's funny listening to Petula sing inthe key of Davy! Good job guys!

  • brilliant touch that you were able to get Mrs. Clark herself to be on the track as well. great work

  • One of my favourite songs, in one of my favourite City's, and I love the Duane Eddy "twang" as well, excellent stuff.

  • Love it,love it, love it!!!

  • Petula Clar Kis a gifted artist who is now 79 years of age and has done probably everything that can be done in Musical Theatre..... FFS The Sawdoctors are from Tuam and sing rubbish in crappy venues around the West of Ireland and this looks like it was produced for about 100 euros yuk

  • @jerry2623 And who are you? The Saw Doctors are renowned worldwide and not just in the West of Ireland. If ya don't like them, stay off their videos. And in regards for the video, the simplicity is what makes it and makes us Galway people proud of where we come from.

  • i love it

  • Brilliant. Would be fantastic to get to No 1 for Christmas.

  • Saw Doctors sing this so well and combine great with Petula Clark. It's actually a better version than her original...and that is saying a lot. Terrific video production too. Deserves No. 1 for Christmas.

  • Would be great to see this get to No.1 for Christmas, this is real music not like that crap 'Little and big fat one mix' buy this and get a real song to No.1 for Christmas!

  • Not too sure about this one...a bit of a departure from the usual. Still enjoyed it though! Waqtching this from my home In CHILE!

  • typical doctors class band class song class act roll on the manchester apollo on 17th i am there

  • 12 Dislikes must not be downtown

  • GO THE DOCTORS !!!!

  • @gc0624 I was on The Stone Pony website thumbing down to see the acts when, by accident, I touched the link on this video. Pure chance. Never heard of saw doctors. But i gave it a shot when I saw Petula Clark. 0 stars. Should stick to original material so as not to ruin a classic hit. Petula must be embarrassed. Guess she needs the $.

  • ha! my friend's in that!

  • @ridesllc123: This comment should never have been made, especially by you. It's so connived and frankly adds nothing to this discussion. Maybe you should stay local and enjoy the scenery. In my opinion, you are lackluster and are merely attempting to capitalize on the interests of others in order to interact with the outside world.

  • @ridesllc123 Seconded!

  • everybody loves the sawdoctors

  • lovely vid! Its like the cast of Father Ted gettin back together again!!

    Fantastic!!

  • @pmc8219 lol totally agree. Rock on lads

  • @MouldyGamer true!! i think it was shot around 3 or 4 weeks ago as one of my friends were there when they were shooting it :)

  • I just sooooo LOVE this. It's got the feel-good factor, just like Peter Kay's Amarillo, or Geraldine MacQueen "Over and Over Again". DEFINITELY want this to be CHRISTMAS NUMBER 1, and if Santa can arrange that, then I'll be delighted.

  • This was played on Aled Jones show on Radio 2 this morning (4-12-11) as well ,this really must get to number 1 for Christmas, just tell everyone you know about it and download it from December 9th.

  • Whoop whoop... Paul O'Grady played Downtown at around 6.43pm tonight (Sunday)! That's the first time I have heard it played on Radio 2 since Janice Long played it a couple of times over a week ago! Let's hope the rest of the Rdio 2 DJs catch on to how good a song it is!!!

  • class song

  • can't stopping playing this song, cheers me up no end

  • When is it going to be on the Radio 2 playlist? I have only heard Janice Long playing it so far... she played it three times in the first 2 weeks but she's not played it at all this week. :o(

  • LOL. Is Lesbainia near Corrandulla or Corofin?

  • Ray Foley wants this at number 1!Buy it december 16th

  • @eddymackiss eddy, your comment makes you sound as if you're a secretary for ray foley, why would you care what he wants

  • hon galway

  • Fantastic, this has got to be number 1 for Christmas, sounds just as good today with the addition of The Saw Doctors as it did way back.

  • I love this!!! Hope it gets to number one!! I'l be buying it certainly!!

  • I liked everything but the cheerleaders... i hate cheerleaders...but i love Petula Clark.

  • Great collaboration, great song... good to see Davey on form & the backdrop brings back many happy memories. Keep it going lads, Jon aka the Doctors Massive

  • great song from a great band fan-fekintastic.

  • Absolute brilliant song & vid, even though it isn't Cork::D

  • 7 people don't like going down to Downtown

  • woop woop. i knew everywhere in that video 'cause im from Galway.

  • Great song by top band with briliant video - guaranteed to cheer anyone up.

Should be no. 1 across the planet.

  • She just gets better and better. Who can believe that she is 79 years young? What an incredible woman. Music to last the ages. Thank you Petula and Saw Doctors for immortalizing this classic song and lady even more than they are already!

  • You know no matter what song the Docs turn their hand to it always sounds good. The Saw Doctors are a credit to Tuam / Galway and the entire west coast, unlike other bands they have never forgot where they come from and I am sure that this video served a dual purpose of promoting the song as well as Galway as a Christmas shopping destination. Hope the song does well, I know that it has already hit the newspapers on the US West coast.

  • Great to see Galway and the Saw Doctors doing this song. Such an uplifting video. No way to be other than elated to listen. By the way, Petula Clark was wonderful to see again. Looks great and has a beautiful voice. Makes me want to go back to Galway and do my own version of Downtown.

  • Super super video. Loved looking at all the shop windows. I seen a shop called "Rainbows" Maybe the saw docs could do a version off A Mary Poppkins for Christmas, " Somewhere over the Rainbow". What ye think Ladsssss

  • pass the bucket

  • Loved it the first time and love it now. Just what we need to give us a lift in these dreary times.

  • fantastic band in a fantastic city, can't wait to see both again, keep rocking lads !

  • I'm a big Saw Doctors fan, but this does nothing for me. Mind you I don't like the original either!! The band has so much creative genius there's no need to be covering bland 60s pop.

  • Galway without rain. What are the chances?

  • @lipsandhooves apparently they waited 6 years before shooting this video cos they needed a day without rain, true story.......

  • What a brilliant video! I already loved this version of the song, but the video should become a classic, it is so good.

  • Great stuff. What a great choice for a cover

  • Awesome. Galway looking great & Leo looking as 'cheeky' as ever !!

  • Superb good on them

  • Absolutely love this, hope it goes massive.why don't you play York? All your gigs are so far from me.

  • Loved it, and seeing Galway again reminded me I must go back soon.

  • Yeah! Very well done!

One of your Cape Cod fans!

  • Superb! Well Done guys. Fair play to Ms Clark. Lets get this back in the charts for a Christmas No1!!!

  • I like this, but not as much I want to like it and I can't put my finger on why.

    Saw Doctors? Brilliant.

    Petula Clark? Brilliant as well.

The trouble is, "Downtown" is so iconic and associated with Petula Clark, a duet just seems . . . wrong.

  • Comme d'habitude....les SawDoctors nous on encore fait une..FANTASTIQUE CHANSON !!!

    Merci guys, et bonne continuation

    Manu

  • Great change of direction for the Sawdoctors, and Petula looks great too.

One of the best pop-songs of all time.

  • who on earth could dislike these guys?

  • @laydeexoxx Shitstirrers, that's who. Full stop. Mind you, it's an insult to shit to associate it with people who dislike the Docs.

Have a brilliant rest of the week!

  • woop thats me at 1:52 :D :D

  • Over 15,000 views... BRILLIANT! The first time I looked the other night there were 7 views!! I really hope it does well in all of the charts as it's so catchy and the video looks a lot of fun too!!!

Looking forward to next Saturday night when the SDs are in Edinburgh! :o))

  • Petula clark is my idol :0)) love it ..

  • another brilliant cover from the saw docs cant wait to see them do it live at barrowlands roll on dec 16th

  • Totally excellent video. Fantastic song which is going to be around forever, the band is awesome, great guitar sound, first class video and a brilliant idea to ask the awesome Pet Clark to feature in it... All in all I hope it knocks the manufactured pop of Simon Cowel's latest money maker off the top of the charts at least in Ireland. Remember it was released in November the first time round and sold at least 4 million discs!

  • great song and an even better video lads!! I was very disappointed my wheely I did when ye were a bit up from brown thomas didn't make it into the vid (only joking ;)

    best of luck with it

  • great song guys, petula clark my favorite singer fron the 60s

  • She is looking good for her age, not sure about them though.

  • Love it, love it, love it :-)

  • it would be a great number 1 for Christmas, hopefully it can beat the crap that the Xfactor will produce.....Galway looks fantastic

  • Video is genius lads, hit for sure x

  • I wanna go to Galway now :)
