To be honest, I never heard of these guys, but their music is amazing!! They are coming to play near by, in Pennsylvania, soon. Guess I better get some tickets... and learn the Tommy K dance!! :-)
Great vid and great version of a classic tune! As the Doctors age, their quality improves! Well done to all, and Galway looks brilliant....love the place, been there numerous times...wonderful
Great song - i also sang it incessantly in the 60s - am 52. Petula looks fab for her age. Wow! Downtown has done her a world of good. The saw doctors are great fun too.
Great song, great video, great version ... but like someone said: "brilliant touch that you were able to get Mrs. (Ms.) Clark herself to be on the track as well" - that was a true touch of genius to get one of the BEST singers ever to sing her signature song with them ... now a new classic!
Ok, any one out there that is my age and loved Petula back in the sixties. I was just a kid, I am 54 now. Any one out there that loves the Saw Doctors and this is just a great song and memory. God, Petula looks great. What a great song. Thank you Saw doctors.
just listen to the screams and the crying in the city , look at that robber stealing all that ladies money..downtown. just look at that stalker staring at all those young ladies look at all the hobos starving on the city street...thats all i got so far ;D
Would buy it but I don't like Ray Foley. The guy is sooo bigheaded he comes second only to Ray D'Arsehole. The two reasons I don't like Today FM anymore.
Petula Clar Kis a gifted artist who is now 79 years of age and has done probably everything that can be done in Musical Theatre..... FFS The Sawdoctors are from Tuam and sing rubbish in crappy venues around the West of Ireland and this looks like it was produced for about 100 euros yuk

This comment has received too many negative votesshow
This classic song should never have been redone, especially by this group. It's so connived and frankly adds nothing to the great original. Maybe if you are a local you might enjoy watching it for the scenery, but in my opinion, it is lackluster and just an attempt to capitalize on the iconic Petula Clark's solid performance.
@ridesllc123: This comment should never have been made, especially by you. It's so connived and frankly adds nothing to this discussion. Maybe you should stay local and enjoy the scenery. In my opinion, you are lackluster and are merely attempting to capitalize on the interests of others in order to interact with the outside world.
Hope this makes it all the way to Christmas No1. We've had enough of that X-Factor sh*te down through the years. This is a fantastic tune. Well done lads! A great Galway band!
I just sooooo LOVE this. It's got the feel-good factor, just like Peter Kay's Amarillo, or Geraldine MacQueen "Over and Over Again". DEFINITELY want this to be CHRISTMAS NUMBER 1, and if Santa can arrange that, then I'll be delighted.
This was played on Aled Jones show on Radio 2 this morning (4-12-11) as well ,this really must get to number 1 for Christmas, just tell everyone you know about it and download it from December 9th.
Whoop whoop... Paul O'Grady played Downtown at around 6.43pm tonight (Sunday)! That's the first time I have heard it played on Radio 2 since Janice Long played it a couple of times over a week ago! Let's hope the rest of the Rdio 2 DJs catch on to how good a song it is!!!
When is it going to be on the Radio 2 playlist? I have only heard Janice Long playing it so far... she played it three times in the first 2 weeks but she's not played it at all this week. :o(

You know no matter what song the Docs turn their hand to it always sounds good. The Saw Doctors are a credit to Tuam / Galway and the entire west coast, unlike other bands they have never forgot where they come from and I am sure that this video served a dual purpose of promoting the song as well as Galway as a Christmas shopping destination. Hope the song does well, I know that it has already hit the newspapers on the US West coast.
Great to see Galway and the Saw Doctors doing this song. Such an uplifting video. No way to be other than elated to listen. By the way, Petula Clark was wonderful to see again. Looks great and has a beautiful voice. Makes me want to go back to Galway and do my own version of Downtown.
