  • This is my new theme song! I used to sing this back in '98 on my way to Masters Swim class at Haines Point pool, in DC, getting up at 4AM for for 5AM swim class. Boy was that morning sun a welcome sight! Lost my son, and both of our childhood's, replaced by fear, such a true telling memento to faith. Like the lyric substitution...

  • This is by far the best version of this track ... I wish I could find the exact version with the same intro ... there are several out there including the PSB ver everyone keeps quoting, but none have the exact intro they used here.

  • This was the first festival I ever went to, amazing show great weekend!

  • True Talent.... so many live performances don't hold a candle to the "production" version.... This group doesn't need much "Editing" to sound really fine.... Hey... did that drummer break a stick?! (at about 4: 32)

  • @WilliamMarker777

    sure looks like it.

    Stephen Morris = human metronome

  • simply the legend

  • Brilliant Band

  • New Order inspire, by turns, joy, tears, frustration and happiness like no other can.

  • New Order is one of many bands that have inspired me to learn both guitar and piano. Cheers!

P.S. Peter Hook's bass playing is awesome.

  • Yes the best!!!

  • this is legitimate superstardom. is there a 25 minute remix

  • I was there in '98 and pill'd out of my gourd and loved every single minute of it - especially the Joy Division songs.

  • @briancromack Way to go, son.

    I bow down

  • George Michael needs to retire gracefully. Never has a cover so murdered the original.

  • George Michael is releasing a cover of this for Comic Relief. I kid ye not.....

  • Like is not the word. Love IS the word.

  • Pioneers Of The Electric Age & Sound. Much Respect and Also Much Appreciation. RIP Ian Curtis. Every End Leads To A Beggining, and New Order Was That. IMOP...

  • THIS IS AMAZING!!!!!!!

  • true faith, bizzare triangle and blue monday were the only 3 songs on the A side of my casettes..that played over and over.. best age ever!

  • Bert looks as if h was tired here, on this video. :< Lov him:)

  • I had no idea so many others felt as strongly about the band I refer to as "God's Favorite Band" since the late 80's. It pains me to think for 20 years the vast majority think "Bizzare Loe Triangle" when I mention them as my favorite since that song is like an outlier from their "main" sound. It's the poppiest, brightest sounding, least bass-driven song they have. I always admired the fact their albums never showed them. It was all about the music. No cheap marketing pics.

  • This is an AMAZING performance!!!

The story of Joy Division/New Order is legendary. These guys have persevered through thick & thin.

And the lyrics of this song are pure poetry/genius.

Love the handshake at the end!!

  • if It was not for this band, acts like The killers would never exist :) l

  • Awesome stuff!! Awesome band!!

  • I love this song. It's really good ;) ..just downloaded it from downloadmusic.im

  • THE BEST POP-ROCK-DANCE-ELECTRO GROUP IN THE WORLD.

    COME BACK THEY AGAIN PLEASE,PLEASE,PLEASE.

  • This talent will never die

  • the best version i love it

  • that intro blew my mind: now I hate all the other songs in history but this...

  • "Now that we've grown up together/They're taking drugs with me"

  • Dear People Whowritesongsthesedays,

    THIS is how it's done.

    Yours sincerely,

    Russ

  • Simply one of the best songs of the 80's.

  • You know..it's easy to forget how good New Order could be. The chorus is bigger than life

  • love it

  • classic track. just wondering are they still around ??? if so, hope they one day might pay my country a visit !

  • @singaporemusicboy Unfortunately not, it looks like they've split for good now, Barney and Stephen are in Bad Lieutenant and Hooky was in Freebass before it disintegrated earlier this year

  • "you're a fucking ugly bitch, I want to stab you to death...and play around with your blood"

  • the best version

  • I'm 15 and this is my favorite track of all time

  • @soldat182 You rock!!!

  • @soldat182 Well done young one, the force is strong with you!!

  • Not so much the soundtrack to my formative years; rather, my formative years full stop. New Order, I love you. Thankyou for the memories.

  • Yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Is it just me or does everyone wish that song went on about 3x longer.

  • @hpbruce1 FANTASTIC!!!

  • Absolute class, best version ever!

  • the song of my life !!

  • FUCKING AMAZING!

  • Unbelievably good rendition. True masters at work.

  • WOW! Awesome!

  • que show foda

  • wowowow amazing sound!

  • better than studio version

  • awesome

  • Just perfect!!!

  • ce groupe est fantastique et la voix du chanteur est identique en live que sur les albums c est une perfomance vocal.magnifique chanson......

  • Wow! This must be like Gillian last performance live with them ...

  • great song

  • this is rave culture...

  • This was the first and best Reading festival I went to. Will never forget that weekend.

  • increible!

  • LOVEEEE THIS SO MUCH...

  • The Best!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Now THIS is Dance-Rock how it should be. The Pendulum shite of today can't touch New Order.

  • @VCK9009 Pendulum is D&B .... want to compare something like "Korn" to "Slayer" or "Megadeth".... pppfff....

  • @VCK9009 indeed

  • @VCK9009 amen

  • @SquallLionheart89 PIONERI?

  • New Order and depeche Mode the 2 best bands of alltime, you Brits always have had the great ones.New Order numero Uno!!!

  • i'm getting the chorus tattooed on my side :D

  • I prefer the first 2 albums when they were joy divison.

  • they're just a completcriticisedely different band man if new order continued as joy division they would have failed and been . it wouldn't work. they had to change, and that's why new order were so awesome! in a completely different way to joy division.

  • Sure, they had to change, they were changing their style song after song, but I don't like what they became later.

  • no gimmicks...pure talent. 5*

  • I see New Order in the shade of the morning sun...

  • these guys defined the 80's. timeless and still as good as ever.

  • excellent performance and song.

  • Extreme focus at 2:09

  • I can't stop listening to this - I'm just about to give up the booze - this seems very relevant,

    Fucking class A band *****

  • Classic Barney vocals here folks.

    NO Forever Wherever

  • Joyous rendition from a happier time...wonderful stuff.

  • Be honest,without New Order,no House

  • yeah, I heard Hugh Laurie really digs them.

(I'm joking of course, sorry, I realise it's awful)

  • @LozJBell i appriciate that particularly awfully yet brilliant comedic sense, made me lol

  • house was out before new order

  • @TIGEREYE1111 no it wasn't!

  • @tokyoselecter i'm a bit young to be accurate, but, isn't it right that new order were in america for something (can't remember, but i think it was just a holiday), came back and started doing what they'd seen... which is partly why the hacienda was too early. The music was around, but not really in uk, certainly not mainstream. Like i say though, i was about 13 when true faith was released, so a bit young to really know properly.

  • @russ13b No. The U.K are always the innovators in music.

  • @theSCAWP

I would pretty much agree there. Whether it's pop, rock, alternative or house, artists from the UK have either been the innovators or have revolutionized the particular form of music. We're talking about everyone from Led Zeppelin to Depeche Mode to Travis to New Order. The list is endless!!

  • @kazmaq Yes, the Brits have been musical innovators for 50+ years. For some reason they always seem to set new standards and create music like no on has ever been able to do.

  • @russ13b watch the dvd '24 hour party people' with steve coogan, its about new order and happy mondays b4 they were famous, also bout hacienda and stuff, good film.....................

  • @johnslack13 have seen it a couple of times. Tony wilson described it as a novelisation, and recommended you watch the film instead of reading the book due to the inaccuracies and/or exaggerations, to the extent that he points one out in the film (in the back of the van). Still good though, and gives you a good idea of how things were!!

  • @johnslack13 Try to get yur hands on New Order Story a more accurate documentary.

  • @ivar0602

    ...don't forget depeche Mode;-)

  • @ivar0602 Are you being serious?

  • 1997?

  • those were the years

  • "Now that we've grown up together, they're all talking drugs with me", loooool!!

  • In case this comment is in the wrong place I'm replying to katymagnets

The real meaning of the song is disclosed on the live version for anyone who didn't get it originally I suppose lol.

  • Yeh, I think most people know the real meaning, but that one line change does make it very clear. Not to mention a bit more sense than "they're afraid of what they see".

Doesn't Bernard sound good here though? Almost exactly like the record.

  • So it wasn't just me hearing something...

  • i met them all, and Hooky twice, sound bunch of lads!

  • I bet - it would be interesting working with these guys, they hit all the right notes when they compose music.

  • if ian curtis didnt suicide, joy division may have just been the best band of all time.

  • And if Kurt Cobain didn't, and if Michael Hutchence didn't...

So many great singers and composers decided to take their life, and what's left is at most a faint copy. Too bad the wrong people decide to go early.

  • sucks i missed this :\

  • Wewooo thats freekin nice

  • 4:32 Stephen lost one of its sticks ... and i haven't notice any difference in the beat ... strange !

4:10 Gillian made a wrong chord on his keyboard and this time you really hear it ;-)

Anyway, wonderful version that makes me move my ass and jump everywhere in the dinning room !

  • If you look at Stephen he switches sticks to use on the drums. Usually the other hand is for the cymbals, thats how he kept it going.

  • Idiot me. .The leg is still going. I meant the cymbal..

  • @telecastro2 Its not a sad thing at all. There's a "Paul Van Dyke" style thick percussion track playing yes, but Stephen is playing live drums as well. No imitation here. In order to do this new version, it was either have a backing track to give the song a harder feel or have 2 drummers. Believe it, Stephen is one of the greatest drummers of all time. The combo along with Gillian's Loveland style piano riffs, sounds really good.

  • Esecuzione MAGISTRALE

  • ma come fanno ad essere cosi coinvolgenti...la musica elettronica cosi leggera ma cosi profonda che suoni che meraviglia !!!

  • I couldn't have said it any better. : )

  • This was always a very deep, moving song. I think these guys were one of the last of the 80's New Wave acts. Heavy metal would fade soon after. Still, the 80's rocked!! Good memories and good times.

  • Wow!!!!!!Great!!!!!!!grandissimi...

  • SOOOOO Good.

  • epic performance.

  • HOOKY MY COOKIE...LOVE U!!!

  • OOOOOOOOO God

  • Great song!!
