its good that alot of ppl came here because of the "jack white guitar" ha ha ha jack is GREAT and so is joey leone, this guys amazing and im so happy i found em!!!!!! if i owned a guitar company this is who id want to do the demonstrations LOL your the man mr leone!
I love this guitar, I have a white one with black pick guard ...I love it but hate the stigma that goes with itl,,,just because Jack white plays a similar looking one doesn't mean that everyone who plays them wants to be a jack white clone...the eastwood one has a lot of power in the humbuckers, more that jacks singles, and this guitar sounds like many others, its all about your amp setting, pedals etc..this can be a metal, funk, grunge or blues machine, but you don't sound like jack naturally
@stevoe1000 it's not a bright guitar, compared to a tele it hasnt got the brightness although you hear jack haivng lots of bright tones, you need to use your amp to get high highs..I have an aphex bass aural exiter that does the trick..it makes your tube amp bright and sparkly, you get this sound if you use the amp full blast but not at home levels, the exiter helps a lot...it stays in tune really well, nicely built for a Korean made one, beautiful looking, I mostly liked it because of the looks
i havean original airline and i need info on it but i cant find any. do you no a site? it looks like the one your useing im prety shure exept its white. it looks like the remakes there making the Airline 3P DLX the white one. any help would be aprechiated i took to the shop and they restrung it and ever sense it isn't staying in tune.
i have a original Airline looks just like the one you have from what i see exept its white. i cant find any info at all about Airline with pictures just little scraps of info, do you no any website? its a great guitar but ever sense i got it restrung i think the guitar shop put the back end in backwards it comes off but i no its suppossed to. any ways ever sense than it doesnt stay in tune good and it's pissing me off. so any website you no with pics would be awsome.
I've been looking at Eastwood, and I gotta say some unique looking guitars, and they sound great.. If I hadn't just bought an Ibanez ART300, I probably would've gone for one of these instead, to be honest. I just found out about these like yesterday... They're great. Maybe next guitar.
Not knowing too much about guitars but listening to a lot of music... I would have guessed Jack White used humbuckers because of that fuzzy tone compared to the blues guys (Clapton, Buddy Guy) who usually play Strats with single-coils. So White uses single-coils, too? Someone explain the sound difference to me please. Thanks!
Erm, I don't know if Jack uses humbuckers or P90s (a P90 is a single coil that looks like a humbucker). He plays through like 20 pedals though, so it doesn't really matter. A humbucking pick up has two coils wound in reverse so it "bucks the hum" that you would normally find in single coil pickups. Humbucker means bluesy or metal tone, Single coil is more of a straight up rock'n'roll tone. (I think. could be wrong)
Jack white uses an original Airline from teh 60's, not an eastwood replica that is made today, You can tell by looking at his guitar close if you care enough to..
so the original J.B. Hutto had single coils in humbucker casings? NEW WRINKLE :D
Im not completely sure but i think jack has one (or more) eastwood replicas. His original 60's airline was fubar. In "Under Blackpool Lights" his airline is missing all but the master volume knob, no neck pickup, and has a different pickguard than the originals.
he has two originals, one has always been missing the adjustment guts. If you look at the eastwoods, they are made of one piece body. The real airlines are two resin halves glued together over wood, and there is a white bonding band around the edge that the eastwoods just dont have. jacks both have it:)
The Jack White binding heheh.. actually I just saw on ebay they are now selling the eastwoods with a fake binding in place to look just like the real deal. If you do some google searching you can find the whole story on where jack got his, he got one for $200 and a fan bought the other for $3000 dollars on ebay and gave it to him as a gift.....(!)
Indeen from a dude named Jack Yarber or Jack Oblivian right after recording the first album. he used that Crestwood Astral II for the first one. killer tone on that first album. loved it.
WOW! how can i have missed this?? Joey Leone, with his usuall "chill making" tones from his guitar and a great song.. I really, really enjoyed watching this and i can't stop thanking you who put this up (as well as joey, for being so talented and gifted) I don't get how Joey Leone can bring out so much soul from those tones, it's awsome.. I hope to be half as good as him..
That video was done using the STOCK AIRLINE Alnico HOT -10 Humbuckers. There is another clip from the same session where he is playing the AIRLINE MAP (gren) one, it has the AILRINE VVSC Single Coils in it.
i have 2 pick up dlx. its awesome for riffing and slide. not the fastest neck but decent for solos. i got mine in sahara blue. i also put in the eastwood single coils. they dont growl like humbuckers but they brighten things up, and are still great for rock.
jack white's guitar is a bit different. these i think are re-issued models. his also has a distinct white boarder around the edge of his guitar, which this one doesn't have.
Jack White uses a 1964 (or 1965? close enough) JB Hutto Montgomery Airline. This one is a reissue of that. It's not exactly the same as reissues never are.
No way man, those are standard humbuckers, you might as well get a Les Paul. The old Airlines had amazing single coil pickups (that looked like humbuckers) and produced the sound that you could hear in many old blues records, white stripes etc.
Jack White didn't had the original one, he had the JB Hutto signature that is made out of wood. the original one is made out of some kind of plastic. the old blues records are probably recorded with the original plastic one.
You can get replica single coils to go with the Airline. And a Les Paul is not going to sound like this airline even if you get the HB's :-) I own both.
yeah it is pretty good for slide...i've been using my airline for slide lately...and it all started because I broke a string so i couldnt play it in standard so i started playing slide in open G...its sweet
Hey Joey, this is great!!! Since I'll never make it over to Killington this winter, I'll look forward to seeing you and the Chop Shop in May at the Claremont Opera House. Let us know if you post another video. Rock On! Louanne at COH

White's Airline is an original, it has Humbuckers. the new eastwood ones are single soil's made to look like single coils.
PS. Jack actually doesn't use that many pedals as far as being in that big of a band goes. he only uses 5.
BrackishWater 3 years ago
JackWhite indeed plays an original BUT
those pick-ups on the original Airlines are single coils that are in a humbucker format !!!
Eastwood reproduces these single coils, also in humbucker casing, and they're great PU's.
(And can be ordered seperatly)
The (most) stock Eastwood's Airlines have Hot-10 humbuckers and not single coils.
Those Hot-10's are also great btw but they are not single coils
silenus74 3 years ago 2
Oh, those single coils from Eastwood are called Vintage Voiced Single Coils (see: google)
silenus74 3 years ago
Humbuckers (1959) came after the Airline's (Valco/Keller) Patent (1954), so humbuckers are in fact in Airline's format!
flyingvdude 2 years ago
Now that's what I call a nice fact.
Thanks

Jack white has P90s on his eastwood. They are more agressive than regular singcoils and humbuckers. There very differnt i must say.
