  • there's a david allan coe song called the ride some of it's lyrics say Drifter can ya make folks cry when you play and sing? Have you paid your dues, can you moan the blues? Can you bend them guitar strings? He said "Boy, can you make folks feel what you feel inside?....These guys defiantly do all that and more

  • @ironwindow01

    I agree ironwindow01!

James King actually got choked up while singing. He really puts his all into his music. I think that makes all the difference.

  • This guy's great.

  • this is one of the best bluegrass voices i've ever heard. he should record a song called bring back to me my wandering boy i think it would be a big hit for him

  • James King is the best in Bluegrass......

  • Mr. King is able to put himself in this palce. John Prine couldn"t do it better. It is a great salute to our silent heroes, elderly and others that we need to give a kind word to time after time.

  • This song has so much meaning to me. My uncle, Bill Cook(covington Va.)Sang this song for my grandpa(Arthur Cook), his daddy, the evening of his funeral. I was raised an Bluegrass and my family palys too. This song makes me cry like a youngn every time I hear it because iy reminds me of my grand daddy laying in his bed the last couple days he was alive. And he loved his bluegrass and loved James King!

  • He gets inside the song. Thats what it is all about

  • He cried at at the end hahahaha!!!

  • The lead guitarist and tenor singer, Kevin Prater is one of the best in the business too. Can't beat him and James together....

  • wow... all artists should move people like this song does!

  • This kind of picking and singing I could hear all day and night and still want more. Hard to beat the King for a sleve wettin bluegrass tune. *****

  • I love how they use one mic...old school.

  • Tony Melendez did this song too- can't find his on You Tube though- but I'm glad this one is here :)

  • one of the most under rated bluegrass performers out there today. James King and Charlie Sizemore can play bluegrass better than anyone out there right now. They bring back the memories of Monroe,Flatt, and Jimmy Martin like no one else but with their own style.

  • I don't know how many times I can stand to listen to this song. You paint every scene perfectly...we should all wish to have to have friends as such...A true performance. Breaks my heart everytime with a smile.

  • This is a magnificent song. You can't listen to it without crying. The singing and picking is wonderful, and that harmony part is awesome, it just melts me.

  • dandy song..bulbhead you have impeccable taste..i wish you were running for president!! you'd get my 37 votes...

  • So beautiful!! I have read this as a poem. Didn't know it was a song until my sister had me look for it on line! So glad she did. You do a wonderful job!

  • This song makes me cry almost every time I hear it. T.T

  • Peel the paint. Make me cry.

  • This is a great song...

  • and where is the macc fest? This is very good. Really enjoyed this guy's singin.

  • I think that is at the International Bluegrass Museum in Owensboro, Kentucky.

  • The guy singing the harmony on this is just outstanding. It is superb in every way - the notes he chooses to sing and so tight with James King's voice. Wonderful!

  • Dang right and his pickin is tight too. I am happy to have run into this video by sheer accident. Very nice.

  • you rank up there with bill monroe. thats no bs.

  • This song takes me back.. WOW.. You did an excellent job! I love it!

    Thanks for sharing.

  • I love this song

  • I became a James King fan this summer up at the M.A.C.C. festival at Columbus!

  • But for me he wont top Dave Evans though....

  • Music is supposed to evoke emotion, James & Kevin can sure bring up the heart strings....IMO, one of the best ballad singers in bluegrass music today..Randy

  • I agree randyflats
