I have an 09 hhr ss with a gm stage 1 and it runs a 12.35 in the 1/4 its fast for something to get the kids from school in plus its so much fun to blow the doors off a honda or two :)

the stock lnf is limited because gm was worried people who done no how too drive may kill them selfs ....add the gm stage kit in and id like too see the calper beat it with an intake and the gm tune my hhrss put 302whp and 332ft if only they made the hhr ss awd ....also the hhr ss has no limiter soo its really fun too toy with the local cop lol and there hybrid cop cars lmao
i have a cobalt ss turbo and i beat one of these fairly easy. the same ecotec turbo is in the hhr ss....wonder if theres a weight difference from the cobalt and the hhr or the driver just sucked tant?
@jesse71190 Actually you can. Its called twin charging. The blower and turbo don't build pressure at the same time. Basically, the supercharger (usually roots) boosts the low end, then it is bypassed and the turbo takes over. Its a pretty cool set-up.
Dude in the SS needs to learn how to drive the SS before he races it. Win or loose that race was unrealistic unless the SS driver was a 6 yr old child....
The HHR was such a disappointment in terms of what it did to the LNF. A Turbo SS would have beat the Caliber by the same margin it beat the HHR. WTF was GM thinking? Clearly it wasn't about good performance numbers. Props to the Caliber on this one though.

The Calibers look WAY nicer than the HHR. The only cars that are uglier than the HHR's are the SSR's. The calibers look way more aggressive. It really is entirely personal preference between those to cars. You love them or you hate them.
Yeah I agree I might actually get a Caliber one day!! I road in an HHR and it felt like riding in the Magic School bus. At first glance I used to think the caliber was ugly but now I'm reverting to the other side!!!

yeah but you dont need to take off the front splitter every time you drive in the street like you do with the zr1, plus the ACR has r compound tires while the zr1 has runflats, my point is that the acr is a pure racecar while the ZR1 does both very well and that is why i would rather have it over a ACR
I'd like to know the option packaging on that SS. Was it equipped with the LSD? The CSRT4 should have won, but not by that much. Sorry driver. Also, on a tune alone, the SS 5MT picks up 50+whp. Other quality basic bolt ons like intake and exhaust aren't even available yet. The Caliber looks okay from the front, but it looks like ass in the back. I wouldn't trade it for my new SS, whether I'll lose in a straight line (for now) or not.
I own a HHR SS, It doesn't look like the driver is even trying, Mine is just crazy fast! Most Owners dont even know about launch mode on the traction control, This guy should try reading his owners manual.
when it comes down to it the Viper beats the vette simply for the ct that it has a serious handling advanage. But stop comparing them to eachother because the new GT-R, ahe new RX-7 and Supra cars (when they come out) will all be smoking both of these cars, and they'll cost far less.

It's fairly badass, and strikes a good balance between the Viper and GTR as far as functionality and comfort are concerned. I would drive any of those cars any day though, they are all sick.
There never will be another Supra, and it wasn't so special out of the box anyway. It's a very heavy car, with only 300hp. It has POTENTIAL, if you have $100K to dump under the hood, but that's it. Toyota has no balls anymore as far as sports cars are concerned. The IS-F is nice, but it's vanilla in comparison to its competitors. As to your "Japanese reliability," look at your fabled RX-7, and tell me why so many owners swap to AMERICAN LSX motors. Reliability.
Holy fuck man. They're both sick cars. Personally i'd buy the Vette because i's more affordable and easier to drive. But though I prefer it, the last time I checked any reviews from pro drivers or car magazines showed the Viper was better performance. Frankly the Skyline mops the floor with 98% of the cars in existence and would slaughter either of those two but by count the only cars in slalom that kept close to the GT-r were the Viper and the 911. I'm actually glad Dodge discontinued the Neon. With only 25,000 cars sold, I want a rare tuner. I don't want a car I see everytime I turn a corner. However, just like the 2003 SRT-4, it was more like a test model. I'd like to see Dodge make an ACR version for the Caliber.

There are CSRT owners driving high 13s low 14s but when you compare the CSRT to the MS3 you use magazine times that favor the MS3 so the MS3 is faster, now you use forum times to favor the SS. The Cobalt SS has been out what 3-4 months in the first month of release the CSRT4 broke 11 secs, with minor mods the CSRT breakts 12 secs, what about the SS?

Another thing Id like to add to your pricing comparison, the 2008 SRT10 ACR gets sold for basically MSRP and only 100 or so have been made, the ZR1 will be WELL over 50,000 dollar markup as already shown by the dealers. Taken into account the Zr1 will cost well over 50,000 more and is still slower on the track. Tsk tsk tsk Chevy did a good job there, not only did they have to slap a supercharger on it they still cant beat the Viper in price.
With the ZR1, you get 638hp with leather, bluetooth, navigation and a everyday suspension. That's why it's 103,000. I bet the viper wouldn't be under 100k if it had any technology in it.
Just like you chevy fan boys, cant beat it one way go another route, guess what for the 103,000 (which you wont get Zr1s are markedup over 50,000) you can buy the ACR 96,000 spend 6,000 for a Roe blower and have a car the ZR1 wont even come close too. Hell buy a base Viper for 83,000 spend 10,000 on a DLM S/C or UGR TT and once again no corvette will touch it.
Dealer mark-up is not gm's fault its the dealers that are doing that but I will say this, if the viper is such a better car, why does the vette sell 40k units a year and every ZR1 will be bought as soon as they're built but chrysler is thinking about shelving the viper all together? Being the fastest is not everything, just like when they tested the srt8 cherokee against the trailblazer ss the jeep lost because it didnt have any utility. Plus the chev was more refined!

The viper is getting shelved because it isn't financially healthy to keep. Chrysler is going through hard times right now, and the Viper is the least of their concerns- they've got to worry about meeting CAFE standards and improving the quality of their vehicles.

As for better gas mileage the new viper gets better gas mileage then the previous which owners see 16city/24 high way which equates to the same, actual MPG not EPA rated crap. Even at EPA rated 13/21 vs 16/26 is such a wide gap is amazing (sarcasm if you didnt get that) Id take the 13/21 over the 16/24 while z06 owners just see tail lights. Another thing the Z06 is designed by Bob Lutz one of the founding fathers of the Viper, the z06 needed to copy the vipers styling to look better.

Um actually no it took 600HP V-10 to murder the z06, the 510HP SRT-10 does just fine, they are very close in a straightline with the edge going to the z06 due to it being almost 300lbs lighter, but on a road course the viper hangs right there with it. Um it did.. they were banned from racing...1997-2002 they raced in Le Mans, excuse me they DOMINATED Le Mans winning almost every race setting more records then almost any car. They were restricted in 2000 from 750hp/750tq 2400lbs, 10 throttle bodies, to 520hp/540tq 3100lbs 2 throttle bodies at 40% restriction each and guess what they dominated again for 2 more years until they were banned and Dodge stopped racing.

13.1 in a Cobalt SS! I could run only a 12.9 in a Stage III NSRT, with 60 more hp and 70lbs less weight. So I call bullshit, even with slicks the Cobalt SS Turbo could not run those times stock.
As for being a crappy replacement you really need to learn about these cars before you speak. The CSRT is limited in 1-2nd gear, from a roll the CSRT hands the NSRT is lunch stock for stock, so by your logic its a "drivers" race between a MS3 and CSRT which it is. in reliability and track use, no it doesn't. the only the the csrt4 is good for, is in a straight line, which it isn't great, where the hhr ss is meant for track use. csrt4 is heavy, clunky, and can't even keep up with a mazdaspeed3 which has 20hp less than the csrt4. dodge sucks bad.
The HHR is ment for the TRACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I would love to see you on the track with an HHR!

I'm pretty sure the FE5 suspension in the HHR SS(which was specifically tuned on the Nurbergring track in Germany, so your comment on "cheap suspension" is completely retarded) will out-class the clunky ass CSRT4 on track. The 0-60 time is 6.3 seconds, which isn't a big difference than 6.4, but it's better. There is only a .3 second of a difference between the CSRT4 and HHR SS. You would need a stop watch to notice that. Plus, Dodge just sucks.
Stock for stock, the dodge beats out ALL competition power wise. Numbers dont always show the true potential of a car. Since I've bought my CSRT-4, I have beatin at least 7 High Power v8' street cars. Every gear head I race gives me that look that they just shit their pants when my boost kicks in. I have only lost to a z06 from a 40-150mph roll by 3 cars and a Low 12 second LS1 from a dig and the 40roll was dead even to 120mph. All I have is the K&N filter.CSRT-4 is the way 2 go for street race

@jesse71190 Actually you can. Its called twin charging. The blower and turbo don't build pressure at the same time. Basically, the supercharger (usually roots) boosts the low end, then it is bypassed and the turbo takes over. Its a pretty cool set-up.

The Calibers look WAY nicer than the HHR. The only cars that are uglier than the HHR's are the SSR's. The calibers look way more aggressive. It really is entirely personal preference between those to cars. You love them or you hate them.

I'd like to know the option packaging on that SS. Was it equipped with the LSD? The CSRT4 should have won, but not by that much. Sorry driver. Also, on a tune alone, the SS 5MT picks up 50+whp. Other quality basic bolt ons like intake and exhaust aren't even available yet. The Caliber looks okay from the front, but it looks like ass in the back. I wouldn't trade it for my new SS, whether I'll lose in a straight line (for now) or not.

There never will be another Supra, and it wasn't so special out of the box anyway. It's a very heavy car, with only 300hp. It has POTENTIAL, if you have $100K to dump under the hood, but that's it. Toyota has no balls anymore as far as sports cars are concerned. The IS-F is nice, but it's vanilla in comparison to its competitors. As to your "Japanese reliability," look at your fabled RX-7, and tell me why so many owners swap to AMERICAN LSX motors. Reliability.

There are CSRT owners driving high 13s low 14s but when you compare the CSRT to the MS3 you use magazine times that favor the MS3 so the MS3 is faster, now you use forum times to favor the SS. Does the SS handle better, maybe, but considering the CSRT4 has a BLD it wouldnt be something to brag about. Dodge gave what the people wanted, a great performing car, with aggressive looks, while keeping it a great daily driver. Once Dodge comes out with the CSRT4 ACR with an LSD the Cobalt SS will be once again yesterdays news. So enjoy your N-ring track times ones that you'll never be able to get close to while you get stomped on by CSRT4s on the streets.

Another thing Id like to add to your pricing comparison, the 2008 SRT10 ACR gets sold for basically MSRP and only 100 or so have been made, the ZR1 will be WELL over 50,000 dollar markup as already shown by the dealers. Taken into account the Zr1 will cost well over 50,000 more and is still slower on the track. Tsk tsk tsk Chevy did a good job there, not only did they have to slap a supercharger on it they still cant beat the Viper in price.

Dealer mark-up is not gm's fault its the dealers that are doing that but I will say this, if the viper is such a better car, why does the vette sell 40k units a year and every ZR1 will be bought as soon as they're built but chrysler is thinking about shelving the viper all together? Being the fastest is not everything, just like when they tested the srt8 cherokee against the trailblazer ss the jeep lost because it didnt have any utility. Plus the chev was more refined!

As for better gas mileage the new viper gets better gas mileage then the previous which owners see 16city/24 high way which equates to the same, actual MPG not EPA rated crap. Even at EPA rated 13/21 vs 16/26 is such a wide gap is amazing (sarcasm if you didnt get that) Id take the 13/21 over the 16/24 while z06 owners just see tail lights. Another thing the Z06 is designed by Bob Lutz one of the founding fathers of the Viper, the z06 needed to copy the vipers styling to look better.

Yes change the subject, the viper is a VIPER you get a 600HP world beater it beat the Porsche 997 GT2 by 4 seconds around buttonwillow the GTR and Z06 by 6 seconds. You pay 83,000 for a car that performs with the worlds best and has exotic looks and rarity to match european exotic. You dont get that with the dime a dozen Z06, and yes the ZR1 looks like a regular C6. Get over yourself the viper is faster, you want a creature comfort car get the GTR which is just as fast if not faster then the z06

Um actually no it took 600HP V-10 to murder the z06, the 510HP SRT-10 does just fine, they are very close in a straightline with the edge going to the z06 due to it being almost 300lbs lighter, but on a road course the viper hangs right there with it. And no you supercharge a z06 and you got a car that can beat the ACR in a straightline but itll still get beat on a course by the ACR. Get over it buy a z06 get creature comforts but a slower car, buy the viper and get a true performance car

Um it did.. they were banned from racing...1997-2002 they raced in Le Mans, excuse me they DOMINATED Le Mans winning almost every race setting more records then almost any car. They were restricted in 2000 from 750hp/750tq 2400lbs, 10 throttle bodies, to 520hp/540tq 3100lbs 2 throttle bodies at 40% restriction each and guess what they dominated again for 2 more years until they were banned and Dodge stopped racing.

If your going to keep bragging about vipers being better than anything, why don't you pit a v8 with a v8?

Chryslers 4 year throw away v8's can't hold a candle to gm or fords.
Give it a rest already. If you have no problem in comparing a v10 to a v8, then this shouldn't bother you either.

Sure lets compare the GTRs V6 vs chevys V8, the GTR must be a better car since its a V6 compared to the V8 hell the Carrera GT must be a better car then the Enzo because the enzo has a V12 wow just like you chevy fanboys cant accept getting beat so you make up excuses to why the car is slower.

Sorry but if the viper cant go toe to toe with the best in the world the z06 couldnt either, the viper beats the z06 in every performance catergory in every magazine out there. The Viper ACR beat the new Porsche GT2 around buttonwillow by 4secs, the Z06 and GTR by 6 secs (on a 2 mile track with no long straights thats an ass whooping). And its Aston Martin. Learn about something before you speak. Whats with you corvette fanboys you give vettes a bad rap with your lack of knowledge.

You still don't understand just as to why they got banned. And your pitting a v10 to a v8. Thats the only way chrysler get anywhere in the world of sports. "Make it bigger". You don't think that chevrolet can produce a v10? They don't have to, Their v8's are giving vipers a run for the money or better.

Well, it seems obvious that Chevrolet wants to beat the viper in the horsepower wars, and they had to keep the v8 (a v10 or 12 vette would be blasphemy) so naturally they threw a supercharger in.

And anyway when it comes down to it any car can beat any car these days a smart can torch a ferrari and and aspire can beat a z06! So all it comes down to is bang for the buck when you buy! And 90% of reviews ive seen even if the csrt-4 isnt their favorite overall it has the best bang for the buck what you do with it after is all depending on youre driving skills and youre wallet size! So why waste are times with little pricks like Mr.Romance! what realy counts is what happens on the asphalt!

13.1 in a Cobalt SS! I could run only a 12.9 in a Stage III NSRT, with 60 more hp and 70lbs less weight. So I call bullshit, even with slicks the Cobalt SS Turbo could not run those times stock.

As for being a crappy replacement you really need to learn about these cars before you speak. The CSRT is limited in 1-2nd gear, from a roll the CSRT hands the NSRT is lunch stock for stock, so by your logic its a "drivers" race between a MS3 and CSRT which it is. Get over yourself kid learn about cars before you speak, you just make yourself look like an ass when you spit your idiotic idealogy based on absolutely no facts.

I had a 2004 srt 4 and i loved it and i tried the csrt 4 and loved it! So i baught one! Man im sick of this chit im a dodge lover and sick of taking crap from others ! but now im even reading crap from srt-4 owners man just try the dam thing you just might be impressed!

in reliability and track use, no it doesn't. the only the the csrt4 is good for, is in a straight line, which it isn't great, where the hhr ss is meant for track use. csrt4 is heavy, clunky, and can't even keep up with a mazdaspeed3 which has 20hp less than the csrt4. dodge sucks bad.

You would get your but kicked by an accent! An by the way the csrt4 is 9 grand less than the ms3 here in Canada! With 9 grand in in youre pocket you can do a lot! But youre probably right with 0 to 60 in 6.4 secs. 5 speed tran. cheap suspension no sway bars ect... the hhr is a much better car!!!!!!!

I'm pretty sure the FE5 suspension in the HHR SS(which was specifically tuned on the Nurbergring track in Germany, so your comment on "cheap suspension" is completely retarded) will out-class the clunky ass CSRT4 on track. The 0-60 time is 6.3 seconds, which isn't a big difference than 6.4, but it's better. There is only a .3 second of a difference between the CSRT4 and HHR SS. You would need a stop watch to notice that. Plus, Dodge just sucks.

Stock for stock, the dodge beats out ALL competition power wise. Numbers dont always show the true potential of a car. Since I've bought my CSRT-4, I have beatin at least 7 High Power v8' street cars. Every gear head I race gives me that look that they just shit their pants when my boost kicks in. I have only lost to a z06 from a 40-150mph roll by 3 cars and a Low 12 second LS1 from a dig and the 40roll was dead even to 120mph. All I have is the K&N filter.CSRT-4 is the way 2 go for street race
