dear al, please read the MANGA then watch the animes ! it kinda seems unfair that your just watching the anime bc i mean if you review hellsing it has nothing to do witht the manga but its kinda like an extra story line! but the ova is about the manga. just like the anime for this series !!!!
I think that either the studio made the anime assuming that the audience read the light novel series (like they did with Boogiepop Phantom) and at the same time tried to condense the plot of the first series of novels, Rage Against the Moons and it's sequel series, Reborn On the Mars (in which Esther first makes an appearance). It did not help that the author died prematurely before he could continue the rest of the story, which is why the anime ended up ending so abruptly.
The anime has a lot of potential, and the side characters were amazing, but seemed to barely enter into the anime.
Your confusion is justified. Half of the anime is drawn straight from the wonderfully creative author, and the other half is filler crap so dense with cliches and other such shit that it made my mind spin.
The trick to watching this anime is knowing which episodes to skip. The good eps are so rich with detail it makes up for it.
i guess you are right with a lot of things. the first time i watched it i took it more on the surface but the next time i watched it i realised that it has many morality themes in almost every episode
As long as I know , im not very sure though, the creator of the series died during the making of the anime ;( After that they cancled it ,thats why it has a lot of plot holes I think.
@devilax96 That's such a shame... but it does make perfect sense. The ending was rushed tremendously, and the series in a whole felt very unfinished. A lot of the side characters where hardly in it, and the back story between Able, Kain, Seth, and that older red haired chick where barely even touched upon! O_o Which is kinda ludicrous since that was the most important part of the story. I just felt that the ending explained very little, and left us in the dark.
People you really need to read the books Tokyo Pop is publishing them. Yes, there are a series of light novels and they surpass the anime. It goes into the farther detail than what you're seeing on TV. The author also passed way before he could finished the stories so that's where they leave it in the anime. So read the novels they help clear up a lot of things.
The story i believe was far from done in my opinion, and i believe that the plot holes would have been fill if only the writer of the series did not die RIP Sunao Yoshida.
@facelessnophantom The plot holes can't be really attributed to Sunao's death. The only part of the novels he didn't finish was the ending. The anime goes as far as the novels time-wise, but it drops a lot of story arcs on the way and fails on character portrayal on several occasions. I mean, a whole chunk of Esther's development was cut out because the creators neglected the Shahrazad-arc. They didn't even include the Iblis arc, even though they used the title in a few episodes. Grrrr!
@AngedeMystere No prob for the wait. Yea, you have a point, but if there was a second season i though that character development would have improve, but i guess we would never know.
@facelessnophantom *sigh* That would have been nice - at least they might have made up for the stuff they ignored at first. Maybe. I'm hoping they'll be a rehash of the series at some point. Won't happen for a while, though.
hrrm, i didnt really have a problem with anything...lol.....i love trinity blood, trigun, and FMA,lol, all great could watch them all forever...but to me nothing will ever beat DBZ!!!
hahaha AMAZING review. I just finished the series and was looking to see if anyone else was as confused as I was about the ending. And the Vash rip off- I'm really glad I wasn't the only one who was like ... "Wait a minute, I've seen this loveable (yet suprisingly badass when the time calls for it) goofball before!" -.-....
This show sounded so good, but there was something lacking that prevented me from enjoying it. I also didn't care for the ending with its lack of closure.
I like your Review. Totaly what I would say! My fave character is Dietrich...but he's caugt somewhere between side character and main character...so yeah. But stupid Cain had to go kill him, crazy dutch bastard. Anyways! Love your vid 5/5.
Yeah, Trinity Blood was too much of a Trigun rip-off.
I'll go one further and say that Father Abel Nightroad was a cross between Vash The Stampede AND Nicholas D. Wolfwood. Father Abel even LOOKED like Vash, for Pete's sake.
All Father Abel needed was an extreme craving for donuts and a giant gun shaped like a cross!
I hated this show i honestly felt this show was so unoriginal, it kind of rips off of hellsing and really rips off of trigun. I thought the same thing when i watched it. I was like this sounds alot like trigun. i also didnt like the art style, it seemed so girly and emo, plus the porportions seemed a little off.
I don't know, maybe I got to watch it again but it didn't really have an ending. Where it ending was like a big fucking cliffhanger like Witch Hunter: Robin, but going to Trinty, it seemed to end right at the good part!
Nice job on the review here. Gotta agree with you for how they tried to do something nice and all, but it felt...."feh" after all was said and done. Of course, when it came time to actually watch it, if I missed an episode, I'd be S.O.L. In any case, great job with the review here.
Yeah, the novels are so much better. Esther is practically useless in the anime, but in the light novel she gets to actually do things like dress up as a prostitute to go under cover and fight on occasion. And is therefore is actually useful to the other characters and not just the plot.
*cries tears of joy* That does it mister, I am going to subscribe to you, because YOU. F*CKING. ROCK!!! T_T I mean, this anime came out when I was in high school- (like, sophmore or something, I dunno) and do you have ANY idea how annoying it was to have nearly all the other anime-lovers at that school actually LIKE Trinity Blood?? *rubs her eyes* It's not that I "hated" it, it's just that I was never able to get the "plot". But now I know why! It was the PLOT HOLES!! @_@ Thank you..so much..
I also think that Able is Vash too. That was a good anime and everything but the mian characters does need to get a life and if you see the last ep it was like Inuyasha but the manga fo that is still going, but no I don't think this is a end and it like **** you right?
Even though it can't be compared to animes like rumbling hearts or air tv, I think trinity blood did well with their characters depth. there was always the intrigue to want to learn more about the character. And, in my opinion, i thought the story plot was excellent but the ending somewhat baffling. i think that they need to carry on with the series so it can have a more conclusive ending. but trinity blood is one of my favorite animes. ^^

This anime sucked, true. But perhaps that was because it was supposed to relate to a higher level of intelligence. Like Ghost in the Shell, which had good action(whenever they got around to it), rather likable side characters(pick one, any one), and a deep(and BORING) storyline with tons of non-stop talking. Just like Trinity Blood. But the strange thing is I'm pretty close to the people they would target and I hate both series. I understand them, but I hate them. Who are they targeting? Adults?
D; The novels make more sense, despite rather poor translation. Abel was a bit less of a goofball and the usual jizz, but you know, it gets altered in every version. They also focused on other characters, too. 8D Sworddancer got his own segments.
I didn't mind the 'Vash clone' thing. :/ Considering that anime heroes are either SUPER angsty and powerful, super ANNOYING and powerful, or goofy and gentle and powerful. I rather prefer the last one to the other two.
you notice how adult swim always playing anime like this a while back.most of what they show had to do with church. or related to church.not only that some American production company's only want to bring anime that relates to American or europe culture.
i have nbever seen thisa anime before or full metal alchemist, but the whole part of vowing not to kill sounds like Kenshin Himura from Rurouni Kenshin XD
True, but I think Trinity Blood was ten times more offensive when you coonsider how hard they tried to rip off vash and how obvious they made it. It was just disgusting.
@Akamisago Lol so true the second anime i watch was rurouni kenshin and the third was trigun. i was like does the protagonist not kill and act stupid in all anime????
I just finished watching it and it was kind of hard to get into I think the needed to give more backround info and stronger emotional sense, and deapth of thought that or I'm just hard to reach
Had only read about this series once, and though I had no desire to get it I'm glad to see it's not a total waste of time. Really for art lovers and secondary character supporters though I guess.
