That's the thing! The formation of twins (especially identical twins) is considered a random occurrence. Scientists even today have no idea WHY the egg splits, resulting in identical twins, triplets, and so on. According to this speculation, Mengele may have found the reason why through his twin research, and performed a massive experiment using that variable. What's even more interesting is that he may have found a way to perpetuate it, which may be why the twins keep on coming in this town.

My grandpa immigrated w/my grandma from Germany after the war, and yes my grandpa served in the Germany Herr and was in the Afrika Korps. They came in the late 50s, b/c my granpa was an electrical engineer and was taken to Brazil by a Germany company that helped build hydro electric plant turbines.. Thus he ended up liking it here and stayed w/my grandma.

Perhaps he discovered a chemical that would encourage twinning when the egg was first fertilized. Added it to the local water supply and the results are clear. A chemical like that would be a big advantage for a nation that was intent on creating the "master race". Why make just one Aryan every 9 months if you can make 2, maybe 3 in the same amount of time.

The interesting thing is the IDENTICAL twins thing-- identical twins are supposed to be random. Fraternal, or multiple separate eggs, is genetic and runs in families, but incidence of INDENTICAL twins is still possible for anyone to have. So it's interesting that there is a high concentration of them in one town because this random event in candido godoi seems not random. I think it would make sense if Mengele did it because of all his previous work in this eugenic type of field...

There are also Italians, Lebanese, Portuguese (of course), and strong Jewish communities in Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo.. But it truly is a melting pot, everyone is comfortable with socializing outside of their racial/ethnic background. You don't hear native-born people saying "I'm African-Brazilian or German-Brazilian or Portuguese-Brazilian." Ppl find that weird over there.

And then we are about as mentally different as can be! He likes Call of Duty and Left For Dead, I like Mario and Crash Bandicoot. That's the thing! The formation of twins (especially identical twins) is considered a random occurrence. Scientists even today have no idea WHY the egg splits, resulting in identical twins, triplets, and so on. According to this speculation, Mengele may have found the reason why through his twin research, and performed a massive experiment using that variable. What's even more interesting is that he may have found a way to perpetuate it, which may be why the twins keep on coming in this town.
