  • And the man that sent him into that barrel roll is now his co commentator :)

  • Wasn't the first time he was lucky in an F1 car

  • Why has sauld420's comment recieved too many negative votes? He's bloody right!

  • brundle was a driver who did nothing for f1 but he can talk about it

  • even the crashes are boring in F1

  • @tedmaulz Not as boring as when I am fucking your mother. You dirty buck toothed Yank.

  • @tedmaulz Tough talk for a cunt that's only into "motorsport" with no corners.........

  • @tedmaulz I know he didn't die which must have upset you, eh? You dopey cunt.

  • @tedmaulz boring?? you must be american, aren't you?

  • @Donfrak You got something against Americans? How bout I kick ur fuckin head in cocksucker??

  • @TittyTittyBangBangXX No, don't have anything against americans, but generally they got something against F1, just because there is a stupid rivality between their autosport and european autosport

  • @Donfrak I love F1, Jenson Button is my favorite driver.

  • @TittyTittyBangBangXX oh yes, i said "generally". sorry if i ofend you. Jensen Button is my favorite driver too xD

  • Brundle is a legend, hugely underrated driver who deserved a few wins under is belt, has astonishing in-depth knowladge about F1, and is far and way the best commentator ive ever personally listen to. He has an brilliant tallent at making things intresting for people, he could talk about watchin paint dry and he couldnt make it intresting.

  • @Phoenix1664 very true. he's so pleasant to listen to, and he's been a wonderful follow up to the murray walker dynasty.

  • he was luck to roll the car. Rolling the car is less painful than hitting the barrier head on

  • I wouldnt say he was Lucky. The lucky ones didnt crash lol

  • Brundle to Eddie Jordan on BBC: That was a dog of a car you gave me in '96, that thing had more grip upside-down.' Hence why he overtook 5 cars.

  • Horroric crash :) Brundle has lucky :D

  • Martin Brundle is a Absolute Legend :) thumbs up if you agree :D

  • The commentator, Simon Taylor, now makes a living interviewing ex-drivers and racing personalities for Motor Sport Magazine. He gets a good pay cheque and ritzy lunches out of that cushy deal. I'll have some of that, thank you very much! :-)

  • now the bahrain gp is cancelled , the first race in australia with its low dforce, moving wings and kers could b very tricky. bahrain turn 1 easy in comparison.

  • great guy brundle.. really like him

  • best bit of overtaking martin brundle ever did

  • Bad crash, MB is a legend but how does the replay show "Martin is more than just lucky"?

  • takes some nerves after a crash like that and run back to the pits to get in the spare car - respect man .................

  • @schumiisking you don't need to be good at something to know a lot about it.

  • @schumiisking So what he was a great driver with a lot of experience and is an entertaining commentator. Coulthard never won a WDC and people like his driving. The same applies to R Schumacher, G Villeneuve, Sir Stirling Moss, etc

  • @F1Fan0001 Villeneuve won a world championship mate, in 1997 for Williams.

  • @MegaSparky555 I said G Villeneuve (Gilles). He was second in the 1979 championship and died in '82. He was Jaques' father. I know that Jaques won the '97 championship but Gilles didn't and is still regarded by many as the best ever.

  • @F1Fan0001 I know who Gilles Villeneuve is, I'm not that stupid. :-)

  • @schumiisking He might not of won any races or that stuff, but he makes a great commentator! You couldn't be able to drive one of those V10 beasts, crash it then run back to the pits and get in another car with the risk you might do the same thing!!

  • @MegaSparky555 1983 world sportscar champion, 1990 Le mans 1st place, to name a couple

  • @schumiisking - The guy is talented though. He challenged Ayrton Senna pretty hard for the 1983 British Formula 3 title he was better than Stefan Bellof in his Tyrrell days. He gave Schumacher a tough run for his money in 1992, won the 1988 Sportscar title AND Le Mans in 1990, which is only the single most prestigious race in all of history.

So yes, the guy is an expert, he does know what he's talking about and he has every right to be commentating as he makes more sense then anyone else.

  • Comparing it to the modern day, the 1996 cars look a lot flimsier. It's amazing Brundle was OK.

  • Massive error by Brundle - instead of crashing into Coulthard, he should have avoided him.

  • @pmanngw And do what exactly? Swerve to the right, spearing into the Footwork and Minardi cars, most likely vaulting those 2 in exactly the same way, but instead heading towards a lovely dollop of catch-fencing and spectator seating?

Hold on, in fact, please tell me you're trying to be sarcastic, right? Otherwise, you've most likely achieved the worst use of hindsight I've seen in my life...

  • shows how good the cars have got now with safety as that fell apart more then it would now

  • This is what Brundle will be remembered for

  • Martin Brundle was pretty much the best ever driver not to win a Grand Prix... Apparently Johnny Herbert said to him after the crash, baring in mind Brundle flew over his head at 150 mile an hour... "you could have waved.....!!" How cool is that!!

  • Crazy crash really lucky to be alive and yeah insane that he got in the spare car for the restart

  • much better with his grid walks than most of his career as a driver but still an F1 legend in many ways (to UK fans anyway)

  • Just watched Mark Webber go airborne in the Valencia GP. Reminded me of this incident - I'm surprised Martin Brundle didn't comment on the fact that he'd had a similar experience. Both Brundle and Webber must've been terrified in those moments.

  • Holy shit, Brundle crashed upside down, thats one hella experience i think...

  • That was a nasty accident. Brundle had been gone a bit:)

  • the entire chassis was cracked in half after the crash, its amazing he didnt damage his spine, brundle is a lucky guy remember his crash in monaco he was hanging out of the car!

  • he was very lucky to walk away from that incident, unlike Senna and Ratzenberger

  • What does this accident have in common with Senna's and Ratzenberger's?

Accidents with rollovers are less dangerous, because the energy of the impact is smaller!

  • @Ultrajuiced Well Brundle had a cavalier attitude and detests all eletronics s ''gimmicks''.

  • it depends where the impact is located. i've seen many (unlucky) drivers who have died because they hit their head somewhere against something (walls, tires, guardrails etc).

  • in 2008 australia he said i rolled around about ten times in that corner when raikkonen went round the outside of someone at turn3

  • Brundle is a fantastic driver. He won some titles and were worthy competitors of current F1 drivers, but he just never had a good car to prove it.

  • he is lucky to be alive.

  • this was a really good season, and the first i watched

  • this was the first formula one race i saw and after that watched almost every single race :)

  • 0:14 It looks they dontt have Traction Control in 1996.

  • they didnt havethe probs with traction that modern cars have, the cars then where wide track but they were changed to narrow track bout 98 onwards, also the slicks were much bigger and grooveless before 98 too, nice to see slicks back but a return to pre-98 construction rules would be nice

  • this was a real hold your breath moment.

  • Big sigh of relief when Brundle was persuading Sid Watkins to let him race in the re-start!

  • the thumbs up, an indelible memory

  • thats a monsta of a crash

  • "less well" is that proper english??

  • OMG! Die haben ihn da ziemlich in die Zange genommen! Guter Start von Schumacher und Irvine!!

  • jesus why do people on youtube get so irrate about other peoples grammar in their comments, get a fucking life.

  • After this he ran back to the pits and got in the spare car for the re-start!

  • Which he then crashed again. (:

  • replay , in crash Alberts San Marino 2006

  • omg what a burnout start! I miss the 90s F1

  • waiter, there's something in my sand.

  • Thats Why Safety Is So Important In F1

  • No need to put a capital letter on very word, sort your grammar.

  • safety is EVERYWHERE IMPORTANT ... what a statement .. lol

  • Oh my dayz, Brundle is so lucky to be alive. I'm happy that he is, he's a good commentator.

  • "I still blame you for that..."

  • That's his no claims bonus gone...

  • senna , brundle, patrese, prost, mensel, piquet, sumacher, hakinen are heroes

  • Coulthard, always causing crashes...

I think the guy is talented, but you have to admit, almost every incident in 07 and 08 somehow involved DC :D

  • remember spa 98, about 2/3rds of the grid crashed, Coulthard started it... and it was even after the corner

  • Holy shit I can't believe thats 96 it looks like late 80's!

  • no brundle, yes barrichello

  • Why don't they have those first corner pile ups any more?

  • yeah sad

  • This crash is what made me a lifelong admirer of Brundle. The speed of impact, the look back at the car,and the run back to the spare car. This guy is VC material if ever you saw one.Fucking magnificent example to all men.

  • well adjusted commentator too ... shame about that dickhead james allen.

  • good thing James Allen isn't doing the commentary this year

  • yeah dude, im really looking forward to him not being there

  • no ! Brundle is the man.

  • I strongly disagree but everyone has their opinion.

  • Got to hand it to Brundle, he overtook about 5 cars with no wheels on the ground! If memory serves i think he ran back to pits and jumped in the spare car to finish the race

  • Yes but he retired again xD

  • @land4x4ever he did run back to the pits and got in the spare car, but I think he retired about 10 laps from the end with gear box problems

  • @land4x4ever Actually Brundle spun out in the spare car when the race was restarted, at the very same corner!

  • @land4x4ever Actually, he spun at the same corner and stalled!!!!!

  • @land4x4ever

Haha. You know he overtook them only because this was at a corner and the others had to slow down. Brundle is crashing, gets airborne and it's impossible to brake, so of course he flies by the others :D

  • @land4x4ever Yep, Sid Watkins made him get out for a medical though!

  • @land4x4ever you sir are correct

  • @land4x4ever He did get in the spare car, only to crash out at the restart, in the exact same corner, I think.
