remember: tiny mammals have nervous systems similar to yours, they feel pain similar to how you do - so be gentle and don't drop them! and find a good vet if they get sick - our hamster vet was the best! <3

@Heyisthatjade No, it's true. There are 90 breeds of gerbils. Some can get as big as rats. I have two gerbils that big.

You're not supposed to have a wheel. Especially one that's not plane. Their tale can get caught in it and it will detach, and their feet can get stuck and they can break them.

Also gerbils tales are an extension of there spine, so it is not good for them running in a smal wheel like that. Big wheel so they can run straight or let them out to run around. :)

@awsomehighvoltage You DO need a bigger cage. That was VERY mean to say that your gerbils can't get a bigger habitat. When you got the gerbil, you have to fulfill it's needs and by not getting them a bigger cage is not giving them the best.

How would you like it if you were cramped in a bathroom with another person? :(

i would put a bit more bedding for them to dig thats it, u cant always listen to the pet store, go to TheGerbils (dot) com You'll find EVERYTHING to make you more interested in the gerbils, very nice though

I see that a pet store recommended the size but I recommend a size or two larger than that. The aquarium that I had my two male gerbils in was at least twice that size and they lived happily for 5 years in it. I always had at least 3 inches of bedding (I used Carefresh) in the cage for them so they could dig a burrow. That size would be fine for one gerbil but since there is two it is way too small.

I have the same wheel! Your gerbils are very cute :) a little more bedding for them would be nice, the tank size is alright as long as you filled it all up with bedding so they can burrow into it!

@AkitaInu97 its all what the pet store reccommended. usally after a day or 2 they will pile most of it up under the platform and hide. the stuff is just shredded paper from the pet store. its kinda like tissue paper.

The pet store does not care whether it goes well the gerbils. The cage must be at least 1 meter long. And the straw(?) must be at least 10cm deep. You can watch my videos. My cage is much bigger!
