Great vid! all i need to know is what mm rope to use to get normal sized monkeyfist poi? im at HoP lookin at kevlar rope but idk what gauge to buy. thanks
waa thanx man, now i know how to have my own poi done by myself! this was really helpfull, that's why i like to look for "how to..." in youtube instead of ask to some1 to show me how!
So you are using 12 ft length for one poi, meaning two 12 ft lengths for two pois when shopping for supplies. Also, I expect that the 4 strand poi takes more rope, but don't know. Please clarify. Rope is damned expensive! Thanks
Yes. It is 12ft for one poi. therefore 24ft for two poi. And if you want 4 layers instea of three it takes about 15ft intead of 12ft. therefore 30ft total. Just know that when you are finished you will have rope left over. But I have found many uses for the leftover rope. :)
@18lilpyro I am looking at the Home of Poi site and they have a diagram and instructions for this also. The recipe calls for a 12 ft length of 3/8 inch cord for making one monkey fist poi. Are the lengths discussed here referring to 1/2 inch cord? I am just trying to figure out the proper amount of rope to order to do this...Also is it necessary to include a small wooden core? All the components mentioned are for sale on Home of Poi except a core of some kind so I'm wondering if it is needed
Watch my video on how to make fire poi equipment. It explains what I used at first for my chain. Not string, because string will burn even if not soaked with your fuel. So if your spinning fire, ONLY USE CHAIN!! Otherwise it is a HUGE safety issue.
I'd like to know what you use for the strings that you swing it from. I imagine a bowline to the ring of the same stuff, and it probobly won't catch fire if it isn't soaked in kereosene.
Thanks for the tip on how. Doesn't look too hard, just time consuming. Good to know..... I wanna try making some with fiberglass wick to use with colored flame fuel.
what kind of material i need to use to make poi that i can light up

Im curious bro, being a fire twirler, i use wick instead of kevlar rope, so which do you prefer?
pyrotexnix 2 months ago
@pyrotexnix I have never used wick as I have not found a place that sells it in bulk. So I cant give an honest opinion.

Hello! Very easy way of making poi. Thank You for Posting!
But can you tell measurments..Like what is the size of your finished poi?
Buying the rope is the first step, it should be easy - if you know good size and good price :)

Could I make this out of regular rope so I have standard chain poi instead of fire poi?
SeAnStAmOn 1 year ago
@SeAnStAmOn Yes, you can make it out of regular rope, But I would NOT recamend lighting them on fire if you do. :)

How long does that just standard rope last as fire poi?
Rammstein2720 1 year ago
i have never seen this method of making a monkey's fist knot and that looks TONS easier than wrapping your hand with the rope
gubbgubb 1 year ago
man, wouldn't it figure the one part I'm trying to figure out, you couldn't demonstrate!!! =P
So, just like a 1 inch cube? Does that count for the 4 wrap, or is that just what you used for the 3 wrap?
Thanks for posting this by the way.
