from 6 sons and daughters only carmen was born in portugal and from all of them she was the star and they believe this wasnt destiny she was supposed to be born there... i believe things are witten history is written, and she was following a path... made out for her to be a star
here in portugl people dont even care about this matter we understand she represented brazillian culture but saying someone that was bron in portugal from portuguese people is brazillian is just dumb
one thing if a person is bron in another country from people that are outside their country but carmen parents where portuguese and had her in portugal witch makes her portuguese, right you have parents that are portuguese and have a children in portugal it makes the child portuguese through and through, she was baptized and registred in portugal she had double citizenship
I love the part when Aurora Miranda starts to sing at 3:08. This was the same woman who sang with Donald Duck in one of my favorite childhood movies, The Three Caballeros. She actually looks a lot like my grandmother today, except my grandmother is Honduran.
Fui "obrigado" a aprender inglês aqui no YouTube, principalmente nos vídeos de Carmen. Será que não há nenhuma "boa alma" para legendar alguns vídeos dela?
It still is difficult for me to understand how some people in Brazil still question whether she was Brazilian, just because she was born in Portugal. She was brought to Brazil when she was less than one year old - how could she NOT be Brazilian? In the USA, there'd never be any discussion - Bob Hope was born in England, Mary Pickford in Canada, yet they were considered Americans without question.
hebneh, what Carmem Miranda's baby sister says has been lost in translation, plus, it is not correctly translated at all.Subtitles at 0:21: she was almost Brazilian . WRONG !!!! Because
Carmem Mirandas baby sister ACTUALY said: Carmem was practically Brazilian; she was born there (Portugal) by chance. She could have been born here (Brazil) like all the other ones (sibblings) did. In other words, that was never
an issue to them. They were Brazilian through and through.
Yes, the US, in an attempt to ensure the rights of Blacks, instituted the 14th Amendment which provided US citizenship broadly. A person born overseas of Americans parents would still be American, no problem.
Aurora Miranda appeared in the movie "The Three Caballeros". Walt Disney did tried to get Carmen Miranda to play the cookie lady in the film. But Carmen was busy at 20th Century Fox at the time. So she suggested her sister Aurora Miranda. Aurora died back in 2005.
