one thing if a person is bron in another country from people that are outside their country but carmen parents where portuguese and had her in portugal witch makes her portuguese, right you have parents that are portuguese and have a children in portugal it makes the child portuguese through and through, she was baptized and registred in portugal she had double citizenship

I love the part when Aurora Miranda starts to sing at 3:08. This was the same woman who sang with Donald Duck in one of my favorite childhood movies, The Three Caballeros. She actually looks a lot like my grandmother today, except my grandmother is Honduran.

I've wanted to see this documentary for years!

It still is difficult for me to understand how some people in Brazil still question whether she was Brazilian, just because she was born in Portugal. She was brought to Brazil when she was less than one year old - how could she NOT be Brazilian? In the USA, there'd never be any discussion - Bob Hope was born in England, Mary Pickford in Canada, yet they were considered Americans without question.

Yes, the US, in an attempt to ensure the rights of Blacks, instituted the 14th Amendment which provided US citizenship broadly. A person born overseas of Americans parents would still be American, no problem.

Apesar de o parente dela dizer no primeiro vídeo que Carmen era Portuguesa,eu não concordo com ele,pois ela só nasceu lá,mas amava o Brasil,e se considerava brasileira.Ela não foi criada em Portugal,foi criada no Brasil.

Aurora Miranda appeared in the movie "The Three Caballeros". Walt Disney did tried to get Carmen Miranda to play the cookie lady in the film. But Carmen was busy at 20th Century Fox at the time. So she suggested her sister Aurora Miranda. Aurora died back in 2005.
