Wow i watched in Providence during th late 70's. My fav was def Gaiking. I still remember seeing in the window of a store on Federal Hill that had the huge all metal gaiking and grandizer toys. They were like two feet tall, and shot the fists and rockets. Must be so rare, i wonder if any even exist.
Battle of the planets was not part of the force 5 series. Different animators and companies. Battle of the planets was also close to 10 years prior, I think. The 5 shows were, from monday to Friday: Danguard Ace, Starvengers, Spaceketeers, Grandizer, Gai King. I would love these to be available on DVD.
My friend and I would have these long conversations on which of the Force Five shows was the best. God, I miss all those great cartoons. I lived in Somerville, MA and it was a great time to watch TV.
We used to get this in Ayer, Mass here in New England when I was a kid, I grew up watching all of these kick-ass animes long before America was bitten by the craze!
CFMT, channel 47 cable 4? I still have an unopened pack of Grandizer trading cards. I think there's still a piece of 30 year old bubble gum in there too.
I lived in Boston too! It was great. Force Five, StarBlazers and Battle of the planets. It's too bad many parts of the Country were left out on great space cartoons of the era, especially Star Blazers which was way ahead of it's time.
I remember being in awe when, at the end of the series, you find out that Darius was the same size as Gaiking

Battle of the planets would be played before this and star blazers followed it here in boston on WLVI.
This was a great time to be a kid just prior to TF's and GI-Joe.

I totally agree. Wikapedia says that many of these were only shown in New England. These clips bring back lots of memories.
