Ye Thebuirningfestival... Jarvis Cocker thinks he's GOD or a reincanate of real talent like Tony Wilson....Cocker's a knobjockey who thinks he's the "voice" and would never have behaved like an arsehole around a british act like Oasis
wtf @selecktabo and @TheSunnyday64 , jarvis cocker isnt racist and he isnt jelous, he did what he did in 1996 because he didnt like the fact that michael jackson acting like god, it was a protest not a "look at me im so spiecal" he knows that hes not popular as micael jackson and i wonder why he has such left wing and fielded influences, provocation was the thing in the 90s amongst britpop aritists such as brett anderson and menswear, get your facts right
hahaha so this video is another home for the MJ argument... shame Jarvis has to be associated with Jackson, its like somebody talking about dog shit whenever you try to eat a lovely chocolate fudge cake
Okay perhaps I ought to say here too - we're NOT MJ 'haters', I don't hate the ol' harpy, we just think he's overrated and overhyped, and we hate the way his obsessive fans attack poor ol' Jarvy Cocker! Anything I say with regards to Jacko in a negative sense is mostly in jest (altho we're not fans, obviously!)
There's a difference and there is such a thing as CONTEXT, you get me? I think most of you could do with lightening up a bit (and put A SMIIILE on that face!!!)
He could not ruin the performance. He wanted promotion for his "new" album, which was published shortly after the event.
He is a jealous freak who has no own ideas. His work is provocation, that's not new. We destroyed enough, yesterday. This is the time to find solutions.
why are you all being so snobby? your opinions are subjective. he 'ruined' a Michael Jackson concert because he didn't agree with MJ portraying himself as some sort of Jesus figure. who has the right to judge what is and what isn't talent? nobody, that's who.

You're talking to a hunch of sad, obsessive unfortunates who consider it daring to play devils' advocate for a dead suspected paedophile. Ain't that right, sunnyday/hardonne/fruitcake64?
hey flossy -did you hear the program - was actually quite good in my opinion 5* to Radio 4 forproviding something a bit alternative - by the way this discussion has nothing to do with Michael Jackson
IMO, being a public drunk is embarrassing, not artistic, particularly if the art that comes to mind during the drunkenness is to destroy what another has made, as opposed to create something better. The only thing I have ever heard of Jarvis Cocker is that he tried to ruin an MJ concert. Maybe he also does interesting things, but clearly not so interesting as to overshadow this drunkenness. But to each his own.
The fact you only know THAT much about Jarvis Cocker damages any credibility you had in this whole thread. And if you hate drunk musicians, you'd better dispose of your entire music collection, mate.
Sorry folks, the world don't end with one commercially successful, Messianic pop star whose closest thing to a political statement was singing Earth Song surrounded by kiddies.
Let's open our minds a bit here. Yes, Michael Jackson was talented, and a commercial success, but there's more to music.
Agree, the world does not end with one artist. Î was actually not comparing Cocker to Michael Jackson, and don' t think my opinion about MJ is really relevant. I just don't find destroying things to be creative. Anyway, not looking for credibility here: I have this opinion based on trial and error experience, not threads. Doesn't matter. If you like Cocker, that's your prerogative.
The thing is, he's not expressing himself as an artist.
usually, when an artist sees something, movie, song, anything that is really irratting him, he just reacts, yes, but with a song, another movie, something with mind, art, ...
Showing your ass is nothing smart or artistic or classy.
I love beards, and Jarvis' is a nice one, but we're spoiled already knowing what he looks like sans beard, and this is quite a change for us. But he seems to think he's old (he isn't), so maybe the beard must go along with his mental state at the moment. I don't mind it that much. And I was actually listening to what he was saying. XD
he was about 28-32 when their most famous stuff was coming out, but he always looked abit younger. its just cause the beard, and his attitude thats making him look abit older than he actually is. I think if he really tried he could look very similar to how he did 15 years ago, his face hasn't aged etc.. just his "look"
Jarvis come back and blow away all of the bland mediocrity that is the 2010 indie UK muzak scene
