The first pilot is a first class ace. Came in very fast, parked almost in no time. Usually pilots approach with much more caution and that requires them up to couple of minutes.... And then he went away with a sharp half-roll. Amazing skills.
That shit is hard as hell to do even in a flight sim, I couldn't imagine how difficult it must be in real life. Those guys have mass amounts of skills.
@ValhallaAwaitsU lol.. yeah but they have lots of time to practice.. anything is easier with practice right? First pilot up has clearly done it many times
@SemperBeer Flares do not show up on radar, as radar detects metallic objects and not heat. They are meant to confuse short range heat seeking missiles, not radar guided missiles. Just a heads up =)
@se7en00110111 The flares are below and behind the KC-135 and no threat to it. The fuel plume washing over the A-10 after disconnect is of no concern either. If he popped the flares because of a missile alert, I'm sure the tanker crew would prefer them to a SAM up the ass. Flying gas tank,, Pfft Jet fuel is more like diesel fuel than gas. Flares are deployed to discourage enemy missile tracking or to lure them away from the tanker.Your spazing over a non issue.
yes, i would like to have a video explaining, how do you transport such planes across the atlantic.. do you use ferry, ..with KC help, or just put them on a transporter tanker kinda ship and ship them where u need them=) ??? I can't imagine A-10 going on a 10K miles trip.. very very not good for your health it would be.. Or any other planes for that matter, .. only B-52, B-1B, maybe F-15E, ..others are limited to 2000-3000 miles at best..without the KCs help..
@DeutscheRitter1 in thats case, poor pilots who have to seat in a A-10 or F-16 for 12 hours or more.. what do you do if you want to use the WC??? .. just open the canopy and do it in open air.. as you travel 800 km/h? ..
@DeutscheRitter1 on the contrary, they are quite obviously important.. since without the answers one cannot imagine how is it possible for a human being to be in a small cabin not moving his legs etc.. for over 12 hours and no food, no drink, no WC.. sorry if you think such matters are completely non-important.. it only shows your arrogance and ignorance. .. thank you very much for your insight tough.. ))
@BluestyleY when British tornado's are bombing Libya they fuel up and load up missiles and bombs in England, fly over to Libya refueling en-route.Drop bombs and missiles and fly straight back re-fueling again. No stops just one long trip.
I bet the person doing the videoing was drawing / symobolizing huge circles with their hand then giving the thumbs up trying to say 'when finished, roll away!!'
Awesome sight, although still quite dangerous lol lol
the little screen in the thunderbolt cockpit - the screen they use to zoom in when they find targets and fire missiles. many aircraft has that screen, almost everyone. do they all have a camera or something, or is it satalite? and when they fire laserguided missiles - do they find the target at the screen, lock it, and then fire? how does it all work?
look up video's of the game dcs a10, it is the same as real life, the tutorials for locking targets with the TGP and dropping ordnance are very informative.
@krokodillemedsnabel Little screen in the cockpit shows the picture from TGP (Targeting Pod). It hangs under L or R wing. It's an optical system, that has Laser, IR and CCD (video) cameras and a big zoom. Target coordinates may be inputed on the ground/air or received from forward air controller. Yes, you can find targets visually also. Laser-guided missiles and bombs use TGP lasing on target. TGP translates target position to Maverick head, locks it and fire. It's only basics of a process.
Pretty sure its because they knew they were being filmed, for the same reason to do those barrel rollout maneuvers...just showing off but damn its cool!

These A-10's are politically incorrect aircrafts (cross X). They hurt haji's religious feelings.
And it is good.
