Impressive car. It's all about power to weight. I think your not too far off superbike lap times. I was going to build a factory five kit car, now that's on hold...
@macexl we don't have any current plans for a/x since our focus is on track testing at the moment. the wheelbase is too short for SCCA A-mod but over the winter we are planning to petition for a rule change. it can definitely run at local/regional events. we'll probably do some hiilclimbs with it soon.
@jackobcooper i was wondering when someone would notice :) the wheel is not bolted on, it's a quick release and it was put on straight in the pits but the wheels were turned so it ended up 120 degrees off. we didn't get a chance to fix that before he went out. being a true professional, Jonathan didn't let a small thing like that slow him down!
DP.... Wish I could have been there man. I was working on our race car all weekend, but would have loved to see the dp1e and dp4 running at Laguna. Truly momentous occasion!
@Dug6666666 the gearing did work much better. still needs a lot of suspension work, we're revalving the shocks now. generally the car should be eligible for DSR/CSR (depending on engine), however it will take a fair bit of development before it can be competitive in those classes because top CSR/DSR guys run within a 5-10 seconds of LMP cars at most tracks.
Awesome! Have been waiting to see this car being pushed! Can't wait to see it become even faster as setup gets more developed. Best regards from Sweden. :)
So exciting! Great to see this car in the hands of a driver with a lot of seat time here! Awesome to see it really being pushed. Even at this early stage of testing, the dp4 is FAST. The dp1 is going to be stupidly quick! Can't wait :)
@kedelbach we'll try that next time. i generally prefer helmet-mounted because it turns with driver's head and gives a more natural sightline down the track but it does seem to bounce a lot.
I agree there are pros to a POV cam, and this video is smoother than the previous ones I think - maybe LS is a smoother track?
About 5 years ago I made a really crude helmet cam with a mini-DV Canon bolted to to side of a cheap helmet to film me and my buddies karting in Germany.
Can't link directly to google videos but if you search "kedelbach karting" it's there.
The rig was so heavy I strained my neck on a long, fast, bumpy kart track in Essen...
@MPalatov get your driver some gloves. I've seen friends burned through saftey gear and I'd hate to see this carbq without protection!

seems to me this car would be killer at auto-x, any chance you guys are going to take it to one and see how it does?

Did nobody tell him he had his steering wheel bolted on upside down?

Great video. I've been a fan of your original site for years. The new machines are magnificent.

Perhaps some of your customers will go racing with one.
If you gave them sponsorship in exchange for development feed back it has to be a win win situation.
As they say "what races on Sunday sells on Monday".

Sure looks like a fun car.
Gearing much better than last time.
It would be great to see further honing of this car to full race standard.
Does it qualify for any race classes as is?
