  • Now I can see where Mike B got some of his style on the keys.

  • There is something amazing that happens when Thoms Whitfield allowed us to be apart of his worship time with the Father. He taught us how to go in to the presence of God not as an emotional option, but as a mandotory privillage.

  • Wow he was truly anointed and blessed, indeed a maestro! He remind of James Moore so much. Gonna luv that Detroit sound!

  • The MAESTRO!!!! LOVE IT!

  • YES!

  • TRACKING LOL

  • I miss him. :(

  • greatness!

    Artis brown organist

  • Thomas, my dear friend, teacher and mentor, I miss you!

  • The chords at 4:16. OMG!!!!

  • OMG!!! I'm just sitting here screaming "TOOOMMMMYYYYY!!!!" as if he'll hear me and come down from heaven and give us just one more year's worth of music! My God today I miss this man! :-(

  • @loopyman76 ....I know thats right.......OMG he was such an anointed worshiper.......

  • I Praise God! and I bless God for this annointed, holy spirt, filled man. you see it was 1993 shortly after my wife left me. the hurt, and the pain was so great that I thought to kill myself..and somehow as I laid on the floor crying... the song Hold me by Min, Thomas Whitfield came on the stereo..and I say of a truth that God came in that room and held me in his arms and gave me his peace..like no other, Thank you Lord Jesus for loving and holding me..when I had none to even care.

  • I had no idea that that was the voice of Thomas Whitfield, you see I was only familiar with his popular songs like," I shall wear a crown" and that was it, I mean i was a teenager at the time, but this clip right here, oh I understand now why this man was so special, cause he has stirred up my soul as i witness this man who is annointed by the holy spirit...

  • Wow this mans music was truly inspirering. His songs often encouraged my soul. Another one gone to soon. Thank you 317naptown I never saw Thomas Whitfield before.

Thank You Jesus for loving me!

  • oh sweet memories -

  • does anyone know where this was recorded?

  • That's just against the law to be that good sing and play

  • WE LOVE U TOMMY

  • This just aweseom work long after Thomas is gone off the scene @:26-:45 and this segment 1:38- 1::46 is just a triple anointed endowed skillful genius playing with power from on high. I hope he is the band director in that Heavenly Choir... God had to call him, to worship Him in that perfect place.

  • OMG I miss this man of God! No one like the only Maestro. Thanks for posting him. I listen to him over and over again. Wow, what tears come to my eyes when I hear his voice

  • @4:00 til the end is soooo...Ok I can't describe it.

  • This is a rare video. Still a powerful song. Donald Lawrence did his version of this song for Rodney Posey with the Whitfield Singers in the background.

  • At times it is so hard to accept what God allows. God called him home because He's God! Oh I wish these young cats could see the fervor of his ministry. All yall are right on it. He was doing praise and worship music and styles before we really knew what it was, yet he still had a traditional Detroit spiritual root to his music. I'm too filled up... Thank you for posting!!!

  • I can't say a word... I've watched this segment all day.. and still can't say anything... Dear Jesus.

  • he was the first contemporary worship leader in black gospel. you can hear it all over his records.

  • he tickled me when he looked away and stopped playing...

  • Maestro, Maestro, Maestro!!

    I loved this man!!

    I love this man!!

Thank you for this post 317naptown.

  • Just like William Shakespear is considered the master of the english language, Thomas Whitfield is the master of comtemporary gospel. No one since has been ever to duplicate him.

  • Now who would say anything bad about Thomas Whitfield's music. His musical ministry imprint supercedes James Cleveland. Think about it. People don't use James Cleveland's chord progressions like they do TW. Most chiors today sing TWs songs without even knowing it and sample his songs and arrangements. We're not talking about anything else but music here. Let this man rest in peace. TW lives

  • To every hater who looks at the "Maestro" with a tainted perspective please understand that you are entitled to your own opinion but let the record show that his, TW, imprint is upon and shall be upon Gospel music for years to come. His piano progressions are still widely used today and when he was singing P & W songs to God we didn't even have a genre to place those songs in. We just called them beautiful arrangements. TW was the man.

  • It took me a few minutes to figure out what i was going to say due to mixed emotions..still can't get it together. those of us the loved the music ministry of Tommy and the TWC understand..Its like 'whoa' God made a decision to take him at that appointed time, and listening to this brings joy and pain all at the same time while giving God the praise and saying Hallelujah Anyhow !

  • Play them keys Tommy

  • He was so ahead of his time
