  • I am an African Not because I was born there But because my heart beats with Africa’s I am an African Not because my skin is black But because my mind is engaged by Africa I am an African Not because I live on its soil But because my soul is at home in Africa (Excerpt by: Wayne Visser) God Bless South Africa
  • Bellissimo il Sud Africa. Spero di tornarci presto.

  • I WANNA GO TO AFRICA !!! NOW !!!

  • Actually "Shosholoza" is a Zimbabwean song, so pictures of Maasai and Mt Kilimanjaro aren't really appropr--WHAT, A TIGER WTF???

  • @xepharnazos No the pictures should bring you into the spirit....apart from the tiger I don't get that either.

  • were listening to this in chours and ;learing it! its hard to do the horse soundssssssss thooough

  • Thumbs up If you love Invictus going with this song!

  • I love africa, I love the world and his war against the racism!!!

  • 2:00 TIGERS? In AFRICA?

(OK, I'm a Monty Pyton geek)

  • Excellent version! Which LBM collection is this from? I want to buy an MP3 of it, but it's eluding me.

  • Nice song!

  • Plenty of good pictures from S Africa without having to put in Kilamanjaro (Tanzania), Black panther and Tigers from Asia and S America. And all those snow mountains are the Himalayas or Alps. We dont have much snow .. Shoshaloza is a work song. Stimela means train. A song about the migrant miners going off to work in Johannesburg's gold minesn

  • I love this song..I heave heard better versions but this is pretty darn good.

  • You can"t blame the eight people that dislike this presentation of the song: clearly they're hard of earring and we should sympathize.

  • @schari30 :) I dont blame anyone that has other taste than mine. Neither would I critisize them about the way they do it :)))) My brain-space is too precious to use it for analizing other ppl´s dislikes. There are lots of styles of music I dont like, so what? :) x

  • @amidabuda Good to hear the opinion of someone, who knowes the word "tolerance". :)

  • @schari30 ....... but thank you for your "like" and defending my poorly dine video. :) Thank you.

  • @schari30 ....... but thank you for your "like" and defending my poorly done video. :) Thank you.

  • @amidabuda nothing heart felt is ever poorly done.....thank you!!!

  • @schari30 Or Maybe We Should Go And Kill Them........

  • please can anybody tell me what they are saying in this song ? its meaning... some translation? i notice that im french sorry for my bad english :/

  • @Shougizgiz see my explanation above. It is from a hit musical called Iphi Thombe written and produced by two (white Jewish) South african ladies in the 1970s. Viva Mandela!

  • @kenedal1

    thank you

  • @Shougizgiz Explore similar S African numbers like Brenda Fassie's Vulindela,Wewe, Nomakanjani;and beautiful choir and choral by the Ladysmith Black Mambazio, Soweto Gospel choir, Gugestenors etc. Welcome to the magic.. All on You tube search.

  • this song sends chills up my spine it is that good. What do the words mean?

  • Still the best version of Shosholoza you can find in youtube.

  • this are pics of africa, right?

so what does the tiger in 2:01 got to do there???

    :D failed!

  • @tripleLlawrence No Tigers in Africa unless they escaped from a zoo. Some of the initial pics are of Africa but i think the snow capped mountains are as you mentioned - the Himalayas

  • 2:01 wtf???

    a tiger?? in africa??

    :D failed

  • @tripleLlawrence

    It's not just the tiger.

1:37 looks like Mount Everest => Himalaya

    0:24, 2:23 Buddist prayer flags => Himalaya

2:08 Folded mountains eroded by glacier => probably not Africa

2:43 Forests covered with snow => probably not Africa

2:58 Wet temperated climate => probably not Africa

Perhaps it was never intended to show pictures exclusively from Africa. Or Amidabuda slept during geography lessons.

  • @BVBuergerbewegungen :))) Well spotted! :) No it wasnt intended. I had some nic pics and put them together. Nothing personal or anti-african. Love the place and the people.

  • die gees van Afrika praat ons selfs as ons ver weg van die huis af

  • LOVE FROM MY WHOLE HEART TO SOUTH AFRICA... STRONGEST MOST BEAUTIFUL COUNTRY IN THE WORLD. ALL THE WAY FROM THE U.S.

  • love the song.

  • 7 guys who dont know the mean of "SONGS made with love"

  • lovve this song i am proud to african

  • 2:02 Tigers? In AFRICA?

(Shades of Monty Python's "Meaning of Life/")

  • ladysmith black mambazo is best served without instruments.

  • language, color, politics...these things don't matter with music. open your soul and let the music flow into you and you will feel more than you ever knew was possible.

  • Thank You, amidabuda, for posting this most beautiful rendition of Shosholoza by Ladysmith Black Mambazo. My Dad learned this song and enjoyed singing it with his friends while living in Africa. I was told it is a song they sing while working. It soothes and nurtures the soul, as the body gives sway. A National Treasure!

  • INVICTUS

  • love the song! it makes you wanna dance:)

  • those who dislike are either Australian or New Zealenders!

  • @Qyute - I'm an Aussie and I absolutely love this.

  • although im not african , i love the sites , the sounds, the music, the people, at the end of the day, WE are all one, its the mind that tricks us to believe that we are different cos of our skin colour, so believe in your heart :)

  • Actually, this is absolutely BEST Shosholoza ever:

    /watch?v=5Ga2ULfmw2Y

  • AFRICAN MUSIC HAS THE BEST RHYTHEM.. ONE CAN NOT HELP BUT START TAPPING FEET...

  • was cool in the world cup, really cool

  • If you like this song, look this video

Best version: "Shosholosa @ Sing for Life 2008"

  • wonderful song

  • I love African songs!!

  • I dont know who is the author, but as some already mentioned before, the group that sings it is LadySmith Black Mombazo.

They are truly amazing. Great respect to their work.

  • @amidabuda they the best

  • Amidabuda, who's the author?

    Thanks by the attention!

  • @Alysonbsp Lady Smith Black Mambazo, dunno if that's spelt right.. not a native Zulu speaker :)

  • you know, it makes me sad to see this... Africa is such a beautiful continent, has such a rich history, damn it some say humans in their current form stem from Africa. yet it is such a tortured continent, so much war and poverty and misery going on, completely unnecessary, it would have everything it needs to support itself but greed and egoism and stupidity ruin it all just like at so many other places. Africa and the world would really be better off without humans. nature could blossom again.

  • Thanks guys, for all of your great comments. Just a little remark: when I wanted to upload the song I composed a little presentation to go with it from pictures I had on my PC, so dont take it personally, I know that masai, tigres, even some mountain views are not quite SouthAfrican, but please forgive me. I did what I could. :) Best wishes, A.

  • A beutiful song...really great im proud to be south african :)

However..just like to point out...there are no tigers in the wild in africa :/

  • bene

  • OMG!!! This is the best version I heard so far! And this is an awesome song anyway it's presented! Love it - Lady Blacksmith Mambazo is the best!!!!!

  • I am an American living in Perth, Australia. My mother was born and raised in Cape Town. I love living in Australia, but I am very proud of my American and South Africian ancestery. My maternal grandmother was born in Mbabane, Swaziland.

  • amazing... my kid keeps telling me to reply again and again..

  • melanie: this is Ladysmith Black Mambazo, they have been playing since circa 1960, the lead singer is called Joseph Shabalala.

Thank you amidabuda for sharing this wonderful song, replacing many removed

    from wonderful youtube,

  • Awesome!

  • Not sure what pictures of Masai of Kenya are doing in this video of South African music. That would be like putting some Italians in a video of Scottish bagpipes.

  • If this fella was irish i would call him Luke kelly

  • I'm Belgian, proud to have African friends...

I know there is one song related to that band that I am looking for, and that song's video clip got African people painted like african animals (Lions, Hippo, Zebra's etc) maybe you know what I'm talking about and perhaps we can find it :D

  • @thandixox Thanks m8 ;)

  • @thandixox Nice song though but unfortunately not the song that I'm looking for, nice joke though :)

I really love that song :)

  • I LOVE AFRICA... MY HOME TOO.

  • Which choir song this version?

  • Does anyone know what album this version of the song is on? I really want to purchase it or download it, but I can only find other Ladysmith Black Mambazo versions that aren't as good. If anyone can point me to where I can buy it or email me the mp3, I'd really appreciate it!

  • NO its not a typical African melody, sining of course but not the melody. The melody is like the Lion King, hollywood music made for making europeans happy.

  • @JSLegoMaster Sweetheart this melody is a traditional South African song. They just put some electronic beats and overlays.

  • Listen to native African music, they dont sing like this usual, they dont like the melody im sure. I mean we europeans cant listen to Arabic Muic to, we got other senses for melody, thats like that dependent where oyu live.

  • The melody is made by a Englishman, the sougth Africans were just told to sing a Text they got form him.

Its a kinf of gift this song, a commercial thing. Africans dont like such melodies even. There is no melody like this there done by the natives because this melody is clearly Western European and is made so we europeans like Africa for commercial stuff.

Listen to real african music and you will recongise they dont sing such tunes.

  • This idea that south africans are separate from the rest of africa because they "have made South Africa better" cant have been around for very long, I was born in Pietersburg but grew up in Zimbabwe - up until about 5 or 10 years before Mugabe and independence South Africa wasn't the most prominent and prosperous country in southern africa... It seems Africa is different things to different people, though I'm pretty sure most can agree its a humanitarian nightmare at the moment :(

  • @kpsupernut1

    Too true.

  • quel sospiro di gente umana

  • the first two images are from Namibia.... the man is from the nomadic Himba tribe in Namibia's Kaokoland and they speak otjiherero.

  • l'africa è una terra meravigliosa... l'africa è la più grande meraviglia del mondo... I LOVE AFRICA!

  • shosholosa means go forward or make way for the next man

  • This song is so beautifull togheter the pictures...

    Mi fa venire i brividi...

    AFRIKA 4 EVER

  • what does "shosholoza" mean? great song!

  • to move forward, its zimbabwean

  • @itsallhappeningtoday

actually its a Zulu word.....thats why the song refers to south africa

  • it's Zulu

  • actual in this context or should i say this current video ill go with its zulu but considering its origin is from zim when it was still rhodesia ill say it mite actual apply to both except zimbabwean is not a language lol!

  • oh and the part were it refers to SA it used to be rhodesia

  • the Best Song in my life

  • insieme per l'africa!! hanno tanto da isegnarci....

  • Black...White or Indian South Africans! We are all AFRICANS....

    AFRICAN PRIDEE!

  • You live in Africa

    Your an African

    I live in America

But I WILL never deny the fact that I'm African

    I Am African and proud

    Have Pride in yourself!

  • How ignorant can you be?? You are SOUTH AFRICAN when you were BORN in South African!! I live in the USA but will ALWAYS be a SOUTH AFRICAN. . . till I apply for citizenship! If you are happy to be an Islamic African, go for it! I have a lot of pride in who and what I am but surely do not have an identity crisis!

  • @ PeaceLoveIslam

Hi I'm South African and I live in New Zealand - South Africans don't believe in being part of the rest of Africa - We consider ourselves separate from Africa. It's all about pride and how we as South Africans have made South Africa better!

  • You should probably be more conscious of the things you say when you speak for everyone in South Africa. I know for a FACT that not all South Africans feel the same way you do. In fact, Id venture to say that only a small community of people would agree, most of whom live in Cape Town if you know what I mean.
