классная тема! первый раз я ее слышал в 1986 г и танцевал под нее верхний break-dance)))) потом кассета затерялась и вот чудо, я снова ее слышу спустя кучу лет!спасибо тому кто выложил! super!
I tried contacting thes radio station but they dont carry that stuff that they used to have on reel to reel and cart tapes. How would I find out who created the remixes? Have really cool "Roxanne Roxanne" series on cassette. And as cheesy as most of the other versions "real roxanne, roxanne shante, roxanne's parents, etc." are, they are still a cool part of early rap history. HELP!
Attention REALLY old schoolers: I have tons of remixes and alternate versions of these songs on CASSETTE from a radio station in ATL called V103 back when they did the Fresh Party in the early 80's. I would I go about trying to get these versions that I grew up on with the radio? I can find some things on vinyl, but they aren't the mixes that I heard on the radio.
This is one of the best videos of the 80s. Not just hip hop videos, but videos period. Visually, it's right up there with anything the Talking Heads put out. I wonder if that rabbit didn't inspire the Donny Darko writer, too. I remember having nightmares about the boogie boys creepy easter bunny. And not the cool Dana Dane type of nightmares, either.
gucci mane,lil b.waka flocka,oj da juiceman,souljah boy,and all the other 2000's whack ass,pre-school rappers who rap about bitches,guns,drugs,gangbanging,beef,your dick,bling,houses,your rims,your cars and other senseless shit.......................YOU AIN'T FRESH.
The members that signed w/Capitol/EMI Records were William "Boogie Knight" Stroman, Joe "Romeo J.D." Malloy & Rudy "Lil Raheim" Sheriff. Lil Raheim left the group so then William & Joe pushed their dual-combined effort as "Romeo Knight."
@AcEoMaTiK Aha ha ha! See, I bought ALOT of albums in my teens in the early to mid 80s, but most of their videos I had never seen but I KNEW about Devo enough to recognized Mark, so when I finally saw a B Boys video, here on Youtube, I thought I was seeing somebody else--it's so fucking random--LOL LOL!!!
Wow, this aged surprisingly well! I thought that this was MUCH too commercial back in the day, but this is a BILLION times better than that wack Casio crap that thinks it's down and representin', and all that you hear on the radio today. Nevertheless, I had this on a cassette that I played till it wore out. Peace.
DAMN! This takes me WAY back! Between this, Fly Girl, and Party Asteroid, I was a huge fan of these guys in their heyday!
It's a shame that performers can't be like this any more... they all want to be gangstas and prove how hardcore they are.... so tired and unimpressive.
I remember they did a astounding sold out show that was FRESH when they played at the Greensboro Coliseum back in 1985 for the Fresh Fest concert starring The Fat Boys,
i'm glad i found this video. since 1985 i always thought it was "you ain't fresh...just go to hell with yourself", which i always thought was kinda mean...
DAAAAAAAANG! I COULDNT THINK OF THE NAME OF THIS GROUP! BUT THIS MADE ME REALLY .
now erry body says " GO 'HEAD WICHA SELF!"
I LOVE THEIR LYRICS ".. I KNOW TIMES ARE HARD BUT THEY AINT THAT HARD! GO BUY YOURSELF SOME RIGHT GUARD!!!..." LMAO 1884 ALL THE WAY... ALSO LOVED "FLY GIRL"
From back in the day when they had those big simple beats in the background. 1st set of records I bought this song on 45 with a gift certificate from Music Plus along with Roxanne.. the album, and Electric Breakdance. Brings back memories.
many thanks for this rap song, last time I heard it about 20 years ago. it is/was my fav.
because of the english is not my native language, unfortunately I don't understand every word in the song. that's why I'd like to ask someone to write down here the whole lyrics exactly.
Ahhhhh, when rap was about blockparties, havin fun, and hangin in the hood with everyone - - - not just a bunch of dumb, violent, wanna-be knuckleheads
Actually, William Stroman (r.i.p.) did this song with someone else. I can't remember remmeber the whole story. Stroman got murdered soon after he got out of the Air force. Shady details behind his murder (around 2000 I think). He was going to make a comeback but not with the dudes he was down with. Too long ago to remember all the details.
Yes it's true, although he's not it the video William "Boogie Knight" Stroman is the one actually rhyming on this song (he was THE BOOGIE BOYS!) BTW he wasn't murdered, he committed suicide. I knew him well on a personal level and have six finished unreleased tracks from him that we were working on before he died. I've always kept them to myself out of respect for his family (at least his mom) He was a real cool dude with a college degree and I never sensed any trouble with him...sad
Thanks for the 411. I didnt know he commited suicide. Brothers was like, "Stroman got killed!". I was coming home from playing ball at Rucker Park when I heard that. Dude did that joint by himself. I tried to figure out when this video came out, why both dudes sounded the same!
I had this 45 and tape. They didn't havea bad follow up with Romeo Knight either. While Fly Girl and You Ain't Fresh are some solid Classics, the REAL song from that album that someone needs to get and post on You Tube for listening pleasure was "Party Asteroid." Best song off the album in my opinion. Too bad the Boogie Boys' timing was just off. They were just as solid as Whoodini or any other group trying to come up at the time.
I used to own that on 45 rpm. Thank God for justmusicstore, I reclaimed the single/video version on mp3. This mix is hard to find! Anyway that was the cut back in the day, yet it charted so low on the R&B charts.
