Thanks for the comment! How I learned to sing this like is actually a combination of church and Monty Python: a lack of girl singers made it pretty much required that I sing the girls' parts, so I camped it up, and the "there's been a robbery" sketch where the one man can only be understood when he speaks in "a higher register". eventually I decided to try and stretch my vocal range as much as possible.
