This is why it sold. Who isn't gonna buy something with Alda sitting there telling you how awesome it is in his prime? Be like the Rock promoting a 360. Sales would go through the roof.
@kidd912thomas I guess everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but the Academy doesn't deny that he is a wonderful actor, and his philanthropic work proves he's a better human being than most.
She sounds like she's getting really pissed off with it towards the end of the clip. I hope she started punching the keyboard and eventually picked the thing up and flung it across the room
@fjccommish Ok, that's why you said that! No, I even admire Alan Alda. I love his work, and I think he's a good person. He's a terrific writer and he hosted The Human Spark, which I loved very much. He's been married for 50 years, and some of his grandchildren are actors. But there's not many people that I don't like...
Well, I'd say that if you only give into them once every 30 years or so (or give in 30 years after the original commercial aired) then you're doing pretty damn well.
Bahhhh, go on, indulge a little! I hears the Atari is an excellent system to own! =P
Playing with Alan Alda must be really annoying. "Shoot the R, shoot the R! NO, DO IT NOW!! GAAH!"

Atari's range of 8-bit home computers are very underrated!

Mash was a great show but too left-wingish!
belangerist 10 months ago
@belangerist The book was very right-wing. So I suppose it didn't help that the TV series was made around the time of the Vietnam war.
timbo177 10 months ago
@belangerist I didn't mind the shows politics, but i didn't like how preachy and self rightously heavy handed it became.

Atari aimed its commercials at parents and grandparents, rather than the commercial and product at kids.
fjccommish 1 year ago
@fjccommish That was before kids got 100 bucks a week allowances.
cchanderson 4 months ago
@cchanderson Sure, but when kids want something they nag the parents.

Girl: Wanna try?
Alan Alda: I thought she'd never ask.
Wow! Just by playing this game, Alan Alda could become a real typist!
(PS -- I love how at the end, the girl is telling Alan Alda to get the R and he says, "Where is it?")

Why is it I can't watch anything of Alan Aldaa outside of M*A*S*H* and NOT think of Hawkeye?
I half expected him to scold the girl and say something like "You're worse than Hot Lips"

Just after the commercial she hung herself. You would too if you had to play a game like this with Alan Alda hovering over your shoulder.
fjccommish 1 year ago
@fjccommish no. I know I wouldn't. I would play any Atari games for hours just to see Alan Alda talk over my shoulder.
I guess everybody's different!

@Hootshot112 What about Mike Farrel?

@fjccommish I wouldn't hung myself either. Did you like MASH?
Hootshot112 1 year ago
@Hootshot112 I love MASH. Alan Alda, outside of MASH, is annoying. Mike Farrel is even more annoying.

You people are forgetting -- back then, it was not a common skill to be able to type, much less as a profession.
