  • Bad luck you Aussies! Bad luck!

  • I really can't see what problem Ponting had with the umpires. The bowler didn't appeal, only the wicket keeper was interested, the only hotspot was on the bottom of his bat which likely came from tapping the bat on the wicket, it was certainly nowhere near where the ball passed the bat. Where is there any evidence that it was edged?

  • aussie are bad sport and ponting is the leader. THE BIGGEST LOSER.

  • @strangergoat if you were there, you would have seen (as the TV replays showed) that Kevin Pietersen did not walk and didn't take his gloves off, instead stepping back, and then shaking his head to the umpire. I don't think he knew.

  • I'm all for the DRS, especially here in Australia. Over the years the home team has received the overwhelming majority of questionable decisions in their favour. Warne and McGrath were terrific bowlers, but their excellent statistics were aided by who knows how many questionable or just plain wrong decisions. Andrew Strauss received so many dusty decisions here in 2006, he went on to be dropped from the test team altogether. Thankfully, the days of Australia chiselling guys out is over.

  • Snicko didn't show up anything, and as a batsman sometimes you generally don't know when you've nicked the ball.

The URS is a good thing in general, it just means that completely obvious wrong decisions are eliminated from the game.

As for checking no balls on a wicket, why shouldn't the umpries do that. Technology has been used in cricket for a long time, with run outs and stumpings, as well as checking if the ball has gone to the boundary, when fielders slide over the boundary rope.

  • i was there - pietersen started to walk - he had his gloves half off. it was a bs decision. but everyone knows you shouldn't fight with the umpire.

  • @strangergoat So he was out you think? And the Umpire was wrong, but Ricky shouldnt have argued with him .. Just wanting to know if you think he was out or not :)

  • @tiannahisawesome judging by the batsman's response, i'm sure he thought he was out. and that's enough for me to be pretty sure he was - as the batsman, you'd know if you nicked it or not, surely. still, umpire said out, so he's out. I have massive issues with the review system - i feel like it encourages players to argue with the umpire's decision.

  • @strangergoat Okay, thanks for your reply! :) I agree with you in regard to the review system, I think it's like if you dont want the Umpire's decision to count, you dont have to accept it .. you knnow what I mean? You can make your own call, as to what you think.

  • contd .. My major problem is the Umpire being able to check for no-balls after a wicket is taken, that is ridiculous! As Mark Taylor said, if it wasnt a wicket, no one would have bothered checking if it was a no-ball .. Maybe player reviews are ok, but definately not the Umpire .. just my opinion :)

  • @strangergoat learn something first and then learn again.

  • @strangergoat Pietersen started walking after being called out LBW. not after this one.

  • Ponting is a class act with the bat, and will go down as a legend of the game. It's just a pity that sometimes he doesnt think with his head, and does these very cringeworthy things. 40% was appauling, really- I think if Aleem Dar wasnt such a good sport and nice guy, Ponting would have faced a 100% match fine. I doubt they'd give him a match ban, not in an ashes series, would be unheard of.

  • Think Ponting regretted this as should the whole Aussie team, now they have been thrashed in thier own back yard a bit of humility wouldn't go amiss, only experiencing what england have been going through in the past. Ponting still one of the greatest batsman of his generation.............but his time at test level is over.........

  • That is without doubt one of the worst onfield spectacles i have ever seen in test cricket and Ponting should have got at least a 1 match ban - karma got him though ;o) I wont remember what a great batsman - I remember him as the self appointed champion of the spirit of cricket - he'd take half a handful of dirt with the ball and claim a catch that dirty little cheat. It was obvious from Pietersen's demeanour that he hadn't hit the ball. Bye Bye Ponting and good riddance.

  • What a sore loser.. quite some incidents where they have resorted to such behavior.. 40% fees docked.. that's a sham!!! Pointing is on his way down.. as much as I admire him, he is anything but a gentleman!!!

  • If Cricket happens to lose the tag 'The 'Gentlemen's Game', this Ponting-led Aus team might be the biggest culprits for it. Just watch Ponting's expressions, his persistent arguments/queries with the umpire and Siddle's gamely support to his skipper, not to forget Haddin, the wicket-beggar, who does not seem to know why he is appealing!!! Can you imagine our own MSD arguing with the umpire in such manner and escaping without a match ban?

  • that is at least partly the umpires fault - he's not there to argue or explain. He should have just said 'ball didn't hit the bat - not out' and walked away.

  • no where near

  • aussie aussie aussie oi oi oi - Indian Aussie :)

  • If you really ever played Cricket, then you must also know that if there was an edge or just a slight nick with balling speed of 135 or above, then there is usually a large deviation shown by the change of trajectory of ball. I think Ricky lost his sportsman temperament. where the fuck is ICC now. I mean why there is so discrimination against Pakistan, India, Sri Lankan world class players and just 40% match fee fine, i mean what the fucking blind we are living in. shit Aussies player and ICC

  • Alteast try to draw the fifth match aussies

dont try to argue with the umpire, i know that ponting is angry ...

    loser ponting

  • The Ashes, retained. Done!!

  • Comment removed

  • Desperation is an ugly thing. The umpires obviously got this call absolutely right. Australia need to stop moaning and making excuses and admit they were well beaten. For years England have been the worse of the two teams and we just had to accept that, now England are the stronger team, its as simple as that. We've won 2 tests by more than an innings, IN AUSTRALIA, and without our best bowler (Broad).

  • Aussies are such awful sore losers.

  • that is y India doesnt use UDRS....just to avoid such conflicts...hahahahaha.... neways true Australian colors r comin up... worst sportsman spirit and sore loosers... God is Great... It all changed for Oz's after the sydney gate... u won one test by cheating but lost everything after tht... its an equalizer...its ur karma

  • what happened to Aussies. Its a worst of sportsmanship. and where the fuck is ICC now, i think second time in series that Ponting is doubting an international umpire. Disappointed to watch the poor sportsmanship from Aussies ;(

  • Awesome show of strength and will by England... Its all downhill for Aussie from here...

  • @arpitagarwal82 - The Aussies have been on a downward slide for over a year already....... Where have you been?

  • @KnaterSpater I mean to say that this ashes is the final nail in the coffin.

  • an idiot ponting where the hell is ICC????????????

  • AND ENGLAND RETAIN THE ASHES! Sorry, Aussies! US POMS HAVE THEM and WE ARE KEEPING THEM!

    hahaha~!

  • Is that an Australian whinging ? The last act of a desperate man.

And another petulant cheating little turd wait's to take over a rapidly a side in free fall.

    How very sweet.

  • Ponting is a shamless piece of shit...Pity he was docked only 40% of his match fees...If this was a player from India, Pakistan or Lanka then match bans would have taken place....Aussies suck ass..

  • @calvingmail You are joking aren't you? Afridi eats a cricket ball on live tv and he gets a 2 match ban. The pakistanis are the biggest cheats in world cricket. But what can the players really do when the entire PCB is corrupt?

  • @calvingmail You mean like when Harbhajan Singh got banned and then the Indian board threatened to abandon the tour until he was reinstated and allowed to play again with only a 50% match fee reduction despite racially abusing Symonds proof of which was captured on the stump mic? If so, then you're absolutely correct. :)

  • @Menzo20

Aussies complaining about anybody sledging/abusing them is a joke. They are the masters of abuse and filth. Symmonds is a stupid monkey and chimpanzee...He is a huge cry baby.

  • @calvingmail There's a distinction between 'sledging/abusing' and racial vilification. I can't speak on behalf of the Australian cricket team, but there is no proof of any racist comments from the Aussie cricketers. There was blatant proof that Singh said what he said i.e. audio from stump cam, yet he got off. The point of my comment was not this though, it was just to say that I don't think your statement was entirely correct. My guess is Symonds is far more successful than you :).

  • @Menzo20

The stumped picked up Harbhajan telling "Madarchod" which means motherfucker which Symmonds probably was anyways. But the asshole Aussies took this and said it sounded like "Monkey"...

  • It's hereditary. Thieves, rapists, robbers, liars, etc.

I've never met an honest Ozzie. Ever.

  • What's more interesting is the failure of anyone else in the team to drag him away. Ponting needs help from senior pros, a year or two ago he'd have had people like Gilchrist or McGrath who'd have told him it was a lost cause, instead here he has Siddle chipping in and making things worse.

  • i think ponting did this coz of pressure of winning the match.

  • Aussies, you know how to win but Christ you don't know how to lose. Poorest of sportsmanship. Ponting is a clown.

  • pathetic ponting.. after sydney against india, and their attitude against england when they were down and out in the past, it feels good to see the aussies beaten .. but ponting's gotta be banned.. not jus fined.. thats freakin inultin!

  • Every season when Teams tour Australia, some individuals from the Australian team pull off stunts like these.

People will remember Steve Waugh and Gilchrist as the greats. Ponting will just appear on the stats column. Good Bat, spoilt brat.

  • ponting is an ass hole

  • sorry but there was no nick there it miss the bat by a fraction if it had hit the bat the ball would have diverted direction a tad but it didnt!

  • I'm an Australian but I support England, ponting I hope you enjoyed arguing with the umpire cause in my opinion ponting should be stripped ad captain and dumped from the side bloody hell your the captain your not meant to be displaying that behavior

  • Mate you are crazy if you think that was out. I am Australian and I know a turkey when I see one.

  • The Australian nation should hang its head in shame.

  • stupid rais ICC ..ganguly and inzmam got banned for 1 match each for talking aggresively with the umpire ..ICC is biased towards white teams ...

  • Chill out Ponting your an has been let the new best team in the World through, weve been waiting for this for nearly 25 years

  • dont need hotspot to see he never hit it the seam on the ball says it all on the slow mo

  • Ponting = a little whiner.

Even if it was out, the umpires decisions are final. Childrens role models are these cricketers and they see Ponting acting like a complete idiot.

  • My personal opinion: Who cares whether this is OUT or NOT?

No one should be allowed to speak to the umpire like this.

This is a major tarnish on Australian cricket. This really outlines their true lack of sportsmanship.

Ponting was fined only 40% of his match earnings. This is an absolute disgrace. He should be demoted immediately and banned for several matches.

Imagine what could have happened if this was subcontinent captain.

    Unfair world we live in...

  • @blueskiesredsunsets Exactly, if it was someone from the Sub-continent they would have fined him 100% match-fee and a 3 match ban plus, this isn't the first time ponting has done this!

  • Comment removed

  • The ball went through halfway up the bat, there was no hotspot in that area, only one to make an appeal was Haddin, not out correct decision! Ponting is getting more desperate by the minute, the Barmy Army will give him stick when he makes is familiar brief appearance with the bat!

  • Bad loosers it was not out.

  • What is Ponting thinking? It's been given not out on review. There is no way the onfield umpire can do anything from there. What could Ponting possibly achieve by continuing to argue at length about a decision that is final? All he's done is bring disgrace upon himself and Australian cricket.

  • ponting was well out of order

  • In the slow motion replay, look at the seam of the ball as it passes KP's bat. Even the slightest nick would have made the ball spin, but the seam stays dead straight and does not deviate from its original line (scientific, eh?!)

Way to go, Punter! You're a real shining star, the leading light of Aussie cricket.

The Ashes belong in Blighty old chap!

  • what would happen if an england player did what ponting did !! they would be band. lets see what happens to ponting ........... nothing

  • If you pause it at 1:01 you can see the bat between the legs without a mark from the hotspot at the same point which later shows a mark.

This clearly means that the bottom of the bat (where the mark is) hits his pad as he brings the bat around the ball.

    Decision was perfect.

Ponting is an idiot for blowing his head off and deserves the fine

  • @YouPubeist Superbly written and very succinct. I admire your style!

  • @YouPubeist

    hahahahahahhahahahahahahahahahhah. can't stop laughing,lamohahahahahahahahhah

  • Disgraceful behaviour from Ponting, and faceache Siddle should have kept out of it, too.

  • I do not know why Ponting's nagging but the 3rd umpire is not out. So I do not understand what he whines maybe he should get better bat and not interfere too much with the umpires. Or is that Australian attitude.

  • Spot on, 4duff5. A gracious comment, I have no animosity towards Ponting but he should be punished for that - last thing cricket needs is Man Utd style confrontations with umpires

  • Hot spots aren't always from the ball hitting bat. It can be the bat hitting the pad or in this case, the hot spot at the bottom of the bat was remenance of friction from where Pietersen was tapping the bat on the ground before the ball was bowled.

They also did a sound replay after the decision was made, and it showed there was absolutely no sound as the ball passed the bat.

  • I was at the game today and yesterday. Even though I am Australian, there's no defence for the way Ponting acted out towards Pieterseen or the umpires.

  • To the aussies moaning about this, I think I'll trust the officials who have experience and get paid to make correct decisions. Typical australians, you actually think you are more knowledgeable than the officials. Sums you up, idiots.

  • fuck u ponting

  • in the words of little Britain, COMPUTER SAYS NOT OUT.

  • Haddin strikes again with his outlandish howling - not one of the slips looked even slightly interested (Technology clearly demonstrated this point).

Ponting strikes again with yet another classless display of on field behavior, highlighting his miserly nature and lack of character.

And last but certainly not least, 'finger-wagging' Siddle....well there is only one word to describe that performance. First word W and it rhymes with ANCHOR.

Not a good look at all.

  • i cant believe it ponting is showing amazing consistency in blowing up things and loosing the ashes .... its just going bad to worse for the aussie skipper .... its high time he should hang his gloves ... i cant stand him anymore

  • Bahahaha. Suck it Ponting. The epitome of a poor loser and a poor sportsman. Time to jog on I think mate.

  • Whinging aussies twats

  • even pointing was out caught behind in 2nd test ...but this looser never walk and wait for the umpire decision .....gud player but not a very gud sportsman.....I don't know why everybody compare him wid SIR SACHIN TENDULKAR.......SHAME ON YOU RICKY..I THINK HE SHOULD MAKE WAY FOR USMAN KHWAJA NOW....YOU LET WHOLE AUSTRALIA DOWN...BEING AN AUSTRALIAN I FELT VERY BAD....SORRY RICKY...PLS QUIT...

  • Very difficult to call....

  • fuck u ponting

  • LASpurs.... you idiot. So your country is so smart it sent convicts to a country now you could only dream about controlling! hahahahahahahaha typical stupid english... ahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaahahahahhahahah hahahahahahahahahahahahah

  • @damnedvideonasty Im pretty sure we still own you.... look in the top left hand corner of your flag mate... our flag. Look on your coins.... our queen... now pipe down

  • @tomi1990 hahahahahahhahaah, very well said, lmao

  • @tomi1990

buddy ... you don't own jack shit ... you're broke!!!! Hahaha ... enjoy the (even) lower living standard.....

  • @damnedvideonasty Well that's not true... Your PM is a woman. Enjoy watching your economy crumble you dirty thieving bastard.

  • Personally I wouldn't like to see Ponting banned, it will likely be the end of his career if so, that would be a sad way to go. A large fine should do (he has a massive contract anyway) and it would be nice for him to show a bit more respect to umpires and opposition players when they score 50's or 100's. He is not making a good example to the new players (no matter what pressure he is under) and that does not bode well for the transition to a new captain, which is surely coming, but who????

  • Funny, but definitely NOT OUT!

  • As a cricket fan I have massive respect for Ricky, but he's loosing it now. His poor form and the fact that the Aussies look likely to loose this series probably means he's going to be axed and dropped... Real pity!

  • Comment removed

  • Desperate behaviour from Ponting. A poor captain under immense pressure from trying to steer a team of mostly incompetent and out of their depth players through a humiliating home performance.

Great batsman he may be, but he's never been more than a second rate captain, who got lucky at the beginning of his captaincy to be able to call upon 2 of the most effective bowlers to play the game.

  • unfortunately, this is true and ugly face of Australian cricketers. specially this punter is the worst cricketer in the world. They can't stand defeat. Aleem Dar is the world best empire now let see what will happen to punter. NOTHING

  • also where does it show there was a nick? the ball goes past the bat without deviating in any way in its line or its rotation. when theres even a faint nick the balls rotation changes dramatically. i dunno how you could call that out based on any of the video evidence.

    i smell one eyed aussie.

  • One thing is for sure, Aleem Dar is a smooth operator.

Punter should be banned for the next match.

  • @POWvi

good suggestion. Aussies might win when Punter is gone!

  • shameful. just shameful. would like to know wut richie benaud thinks of this behaviour.

  • The true mettle of a man is tested not in victory but by his behaviour in defeat. Ponting has shown he is wanting by his adolescent outburst. Truly he personifies the worst side of the Australian sporting psyche, the petty, whining bad loser and when he wins the rude, arrogant, cocky victor. I hope he is is booted out of his captaincy in disgrace and dropped by his sponsors.

  • ricky ponting... u loser :|

  • ricky ponting.. u loser :P

  • I will be so happy when this pathetic, washed-up, has been is dropped and sent back to the ghetto where he got his first black eye!

  • Definitely not-out. The ball passed the bat about halfway up it and there was nothing there on the hot spot. Either way it was shocking behaviour from Ponting to say the very least! Wont be surprised if he's banned from the rest of the series at least.

  • Sour grapes from ponting. He is getting thumped out there, and this I his frustration. He knows he will most likely be sacked as captain after this series, so needs to be seen to be doing something. My guess is he'll jump before being pushed. Any way; NOT OUT!

  • Ponting is just a terrible bad loser. He's had his day and it shows but his pettyness every time Australia lose.

  • haha....ponting is about to cry...come on!! u can't win it this time...your time is over.

  • The hotspot doesn't show much, the on field umpire thinks its not out , the third umpire thinks its not out. And if you see carefully when the ball passes the bat there is no change in the revolution of the ball which shows that it didnt touch the bat at all. (Otherwise there is nothing else to prove it either way!)

Thats pretty odd from Ponting. Generally players get penalized for that much argument with the umpires.

And finally thzis nothing more then sheer desperation from the Australian.

  • NOT OUT NOT OUT NOT OUT NOT OUT

  • some time ago i was really liked ponting ...

  • yes it was out

  • Ups & downs are the part of the game. ponting shouldn't have behaved like this. The decision was made by 3rd umpire as well. I believe match referee should charge him. its not a football match where everyone was shouting on umpire on the decision....

  • ponting is not the champion he used to be. its amusing to see the aussie team behaving this way. its downright disgusting if ponting gets away without him banned for a match at least.

  • @ashokpai75 Personally I don't mind it if they dont get punished I just enjoy watching how frustrated the sore losers get. I find it insane how just a few days the aussies were so cocky and now they are completely frustrated

  • Its Not-Out!! Good Umpiring by Aleem Dar. Ponting & Haddin mad !! ha ha :D Unbelievable ,, all other Australia fielders are standing behind because of no edge.

  • Whinging CONVICT CUNT.

  • Your "Out" decision is based on...blind patriotism ? As Harris & the slips didn't appeal it's quite amazing Ponting (fielding at mid-on or off, i forget which) reviewed on Haddins opinion alone.

Pontings behavior shows why he gets the pantomime boos, fine batsman though he WAS, he is an ugly soul.

& any Aussie complaining about KP or any batsman not walking should remember Clarke's second innings dismissal at Adelaide & keep quiet.

  • @eXploitationMusic No it's not .. and I understand what your saying .. I thought it was odd that Ricky appealed it, but I thought one of the replays showed that the ball slightly nicked the bat :/ Maybe I'm wrong. Yeah true about the Slips.. neither Smithy or Watto agreeed with Haddin.. anyways, what's done is done.

  • @tiannahisawesome Indeed it is, my comment was meant in a jovial way not accusatory, so apologies if it came across as so.

I'm just quite amazed by Pontings total over reaction to the whole thing. Surely he'll be suspended, watching it reminded me of the Gatting/Ranor thing back in the 80's. Thankfully Mr Darr is a class act who seemed happy to let Ricky put the noose round his own neck. Perhaps a little payback for Pontings "That's f*cking weak umpiring" rant during the first test ? :)

  • @tiannahisawesome It was not out. Fact.

  • @tiannahisawesome Hotspot only shown a mark on the bottom of the bat, a foot lower than when the ball passed. According to the Sydney Morning Herald, there was nothing detected by the Snicko either.

So if there is no hotspot in the right place, and no snick detected, then on what basis can the umpire give the batsman out?
