Acoustic bass drums sound just fine when you're well coordinated. Triggers are pointless and cost more than they're worth in my books.

When you're well coordinated and your bass drum has a mic, the need for a trigger is nonexistant. Besides, when you have a trigger, you can't change the volume of the drum. It's basically stuck to that volume until you find the time in the middle of the song to change the volume on the drum module.

LOL are you serious...? For a trigger setup, you need to buy a decent trigger ($30-$50), and a decent trigger module (approx. $500-$700). For a decent, non-professional kick microphone, you're looking at approx. $100-$300.

Do the math:

Trigger+module =

$30 to $50 + $500 to $700 = $530 to $750

Savings = Trigger&Module cost minus Kick Microphone cost

= $530 to $750 minus $100 to $300

= $430 to $450

I'd rather save almost $500 and just buy the mic.

A module makes the drum sounds. Quite simply, a trigger triggers the module to make the sound for that specific channel. Why would you need something to make a sound for something that's already picking up sound of the original instrument?

I think you're confusing a mixing board with a module. And you don't have to have a mixing board if you're plugging the mic directly into the computer and using recording software (which has a mixer).
