u must read this. once u have started there is no turning back. a litle 10 year old girl was raped and murdered in 1945. her body was not fund until 1947. then a boy last week read this and did not copy and paste this message. the dead girl appeared in his room haunting him and killed him. if you do not copy and paste this onto 10 videos 30 minutes the dead girl will appear in your room tonight and hant you and kil you. well you better start to copy and paste to be save
im not writing this 2 argue im only saying that in my opinion this video has been made using krakatoa particle render and realflow and 3ds max or maya.this is my opinion cause i m using all that software and it just feels 2 me like u get the same result.i have 2 say if this is 3d then im amazed the detail is amazing
Some of you people are pretty ...naive I think the word is or just plain f*cking ignorant. Of course its real. Photoshopped...are you sure. A 3D program.....Its real, not a fake, not a photoshop image/video. ITS REAL
That "particle" is a reflection from the metal ball on the glass holding the sand, it disappears because the ball disappears below the surface of the sand.
I think its a real video. But its no ordinary sand. Probably a fluidized sand bed created by blowing air through sand. makes the sand behave like water.
This video visualize the transformation of the kinetic energie into termal energie. Visualize also the mathematics of physics in our everyday molecular level. To compute this sequence in a equal resolution, i guess a state of the art supercomputer needs hours or days. In nature the same happens in realtime, without any calculation. Nature is like a realized, amazing dance of mathematics, rendered in "realtime". Finally matter is nothing u really can touch, it's "only" the effect of a process...
Was that dropped or shot? Looked like a little too big of a reaction to be a drop (not to mention the seemingly quite rapid 'fall', despite being in time lapse).
Well, unless they filmed it in a vacuum, air resistance would slow down anything not able to deftly punch through it, like an iron ball, for example. The fine sand, on the other hand, would be very susceptible to being slowed by air resistance due to their diminutive size.
hi mikekearn. I don't think it's filmed in a evacuated environment. See at 0:19 where the particles don't fall down with the same acceleration. In a vacuum, every matter accelerate with the same speed under equal gravitation conditions in direction to the local gravitation center. the Apollo 11 Crew executed this experiment on the surface of moon for brodcast on TV. From 0:19 you can see particles remains like dust. That's why i think it's filmed in a gas medium.
Now how do we do this with space time to form a worm hole?...

This is AMAZING !
btw It's not fake. It's part of a slashdot article: "Researchers Discover That Sand Behaves Like Water" just read it and shut up =)

wtf you're all morons, why the hell would this be a fake?
ddillybar1 2 years ago 2
why are people debating whether this is real or not?
why would someone go through all the trouble to make a fake 'iron ball falls in sand' video... would have to be pretty sad huh...

jabbaboy 2 years ago
if it was fluidized, it wouldn't be as dusty or powdery!
n8daboss 2 years ago
by fluidized it didn't mean adding water. particles in air is known as a 'fluid'. cheers
jabbaboy 2 years ago
The little particle that disappears at 0:03 makes the integrity of the video as a whole seem iffy.
That said, that was freaking cool none the less.

I think it's sand dillued with water, really wet sand...
firefly300 3 years ago
wet sand sticks together. I've done these kind of experiments.
Really fine, extremely dry sand acts like a fluid. This video looks legitimate with the observations that I've made at the Univ of Illinois.
issaccheriyathu 3 years ago 13
I'd say it was dry quicksand.
