[Part 2] i believe that even if i were to try to place in my frame of mind that there is like you say no higher life, i would subconsciously and consciously reject it every step of the way. My whole understanding and perspective of the world is based on there always being a God.
@gibbsies .. but that would be saying we are gods, we being part of nature. Is it that even possible, that this world in it's perfection, and delicate balances is in fact it's own creation. how can something of such detail have created itself? How can the whole universe that if changed by just 1% would come crashing, be maintaining itself?
@WildMeemz You say that is if there is no destruction in our current universe. I didn't say that we are gods I said that all of nature is "God." We are not all of nature we are just a tiny tiny fraction of it. I recommend you research chaos theory to see how easy it is for complexity to arrive out of simplicity. Natural systems build upon eachother (cells reproduce, plants cover the earth) without any conscious decisions being made. It's really quite simple.
@gibbsies I see what ur saying, but how can any part of nature any part god if a natural disaster can destroy it? by observing and looking into nature it points out to such perfection that the One who created it must be indestructible.
Yet behind these natural systems there Must be something? ... is it possible for anything to begin from nothing? Especially with no conscious decision being made.
@WildMeemz Yes, anything is possible. How can you be so sure that anything is "indestructible?" How do you know that there isn't an infinite number of universes and that you are only viewing things from a strictly human perspective? A natural disaster is only destructive to humans, animals and plants, to the rest of the universe it's completely and totally necessary. It's not destructive at all. Research M Theory
[Part 1] it's impossible for us to not have a creator, everything is created, everything has a beginning, and i have reason to believe 100% that God is there. So with that in mind, and with that being my understanding of the world, that has captured all heart, mind and soul.
you don't need to see to believe, you just feel. good question, bdonski. I suppose if dead was dead, and no thereafter, then we could not depend on a god to fix this world. We might decide to fix things today, and enjoy the rest of the time we have, for what it may be worth.
After exploring spirituality, I found this in fact to be MY exact case. And knowing how short and precious life is as a result, you would think my life would change. But I still haven't found a better job, a girlfriend, ect. I try harder though. Knowing I will die and there might not be anything afterwards, I want desperately to squeeze as much joy out while I still can. But, still, I am unable to accomplish this. Which sucks. So there you have it. At least for now. Nothing has changed.
I think your question was great because it shows it's not just about comedy...i admire you Ben! I mean, I'm more about science than religion, so, if you ask me I'm probably the person with no faith, and when the time comes we die and that's it... The hard part of it is to accept it and try to make the fullest out of what we have...

I'm not really sure Mr. Bdonski... I'm already in the in between about that. I fear death as much as the next person, maybe even more. But I can't stand the non-existent life I already have... you would think this would be enough to motivate me, but it's not.And to be perfectly honest, I think two of these options could happen to me; live for the today, or die for the tomorrow. But I've never been in that position so I can't really say... I hope it would be the former, how I wish the former....

there is no god.. when u die theres nothing.. but u still live with caution it is in the moments of decision that your destiny is shaped.. so u still have a life to live for on earth and its the only one youv got.. (so it wouldnt change anything cause i already know) and i think being "spiritual " is a good thing (doesnt mean going to church) and if god wont get u than the law will
I Think This Question Is Really For Believers So ima stfu
This isn't really a question Ive asked myself. I've always wondered what happened when I died, but never wondered how it would effect me if I knew. So you wanna know what Id do? How would I change if I knew there was no god?
I'd kill more people. Thats all there is to it. Not because I think its cool, or something like that. But if there's anything Ive realized in my short life, its that I've almost never been as happy as I was the last time I killed an animal. Im just sick.
Id live without out regret like do what i want acttulay be free not to say "oh im free i do what i want" an the next day get told from a teacher to shut up an shut up id break the law do what i want say what i want when i want an how i want. But my question is what if you die an then come back to life in a different time zone like the past or the future anytime but you dont now that you had a past life?
life is not a game, its meaningless nothing, after u die there is nothing, means you dont have good or bad choices, what you choose in life doesn't mean anything, so what would u do if u knew god doesn't exist, no reincarnation etc? u just put on a mask behave how u want and care about nothing, u play it like a game or just behave like a good boy should, it doesnt matter..
There is no meaning to life, all it is, is a game that we are supposed to try to play but most of us never even start. During most of us make wrong turns, such as smoking, robbery, rape, or ect. Some times if you take a wrong turn you can never get back on track. On the way we pick up stuff, family, friends, boyfriends/girlfriends, and ect. So all together I think that life is more life a really big game of Pac Man. If you put it into perspective you will realize I'm right, message me for more.
people would do anything they want. have sex, drink, kill, steal, do ABSOLUTELY NOTHING....if it was REALLY true, i would stop going to church, i think i would have sex before im married. thats it
I'm not sure.If for certain there was no god, well, I would do anything I want, since i am a muslim, not necessarily strict, but I follow most rules ( no drinking, no pork, no fortification/adultery) I wouldn't follow those rules no longer, it would change my life, for the worse.Or I would deny the fact that god doesn't exist, and still follow the rules of islam, but my life would be a whole lot more fun if I didn't believe, but I would probably become some drunken poor idiot.
I think there are two possibilities:OR people would commit crimes for like 200 years. Then the world would decide to teach their kids about religion and start all over again.Which would fail again.OR people would be much more civilized since they want to accomplish something in there lives because there is no other place they can and more people would help healthcare researches so we can live longer. And i think this would happen because now atheists are one of the most educated people on earth.
Can't sleep, couldn't sleep for hours, so came to check out ur channel before getting ready for work in about half an hour.
So at a point where sleep is lost and time and darkness is left to ponder, what IF there was nothing, but our existence and none other... I'd just want to fall asleep and dream, holding the hands of the people I most care about.
you answered that for me the first time you said it, no god, no reincarnation, no high life form...when we die, we're done, just our bodies left to decay, all i have come to believe through some years of living
however, that doesn't mean we have excuses to break the common rules (which are written and changed by us) or not experiment things life has to offer, or not study and find ways to go against the laws of nature. just live and sample what you may/may not like while you can. be creative
I am not religious at all, but when I watched this I realized that I do believe in that undefined "more" that I think we all always imagine will come in the future. Things which I believe doesn't happen for most people, but we cling tho the dreams and the visions. I believe, as Pascal, that the dreams themselves are the goal, and if they were actually be fulfilled we would not enjoy it.
If that stupid hope went away, I simply don't think mankind would be att all as are today.
Imagine there's no heaven It's easy if u try No hell below us, above us only sky Imagine all the people living 4 2day Imagine there's no countries It isn't hard 2 do Nothing to kill or die 4 and no religion 2 Imagine all the people living life in peace Imagine no possessions I wonder if u can No need for greed or hunger A brotherhood of man Imagine all the people sharing all the world You may say I'm a dreamer but I'm not the only 1 I hope someday you'll join us and the world will live as 1
"when you die - you're done" There is a very cartesian presumption underlying the question which you pose which assumes that my essence is the voice which is thinking inside of my head. No doubt when brain function ceases that voice will vanish. But it seems so utterly reductionistic to define ourselves by the synaptic brain activity. When a skin cell dies the life of the body continues. We never die for we are a part of a bigger organism and we are just germs in the petry dish.
I am christian turned agnostic, and the only reason I don't become atheist is because of the hope I still have in something being out there. I already do what I want really. I do kind things not for any "god" or purpose, but because it makes me happy. It makes me feel important. I try to be the best I can be. It's how I am naturally, but I would fear for the world if religion was discarded.
I don't think much would change for me since that what I think will probably happen regardless. However a spark of hope or uncertainty will probably go out within me.
Not really sure what I'd do. It'd be a whole different world altogether. I think the most desperate religious people would still hold on to their beliefs and deny it with some weird argument... given that religion seems to be more than often just grasping at straws trying to find some kind of meaning for this life.
there is no god, but a sweet religion to belong to in this world is the LDS church. Such a loving caring church that teaches great principles to live your lives by.
Besides, living for ever would get boring. Live your life as full as you can make it! :)
I don't believe in any set religion's idea of afterlife or any god, so that might affect my answer, but here we go:
If someone told me that this was it, I would probably go totally carpe-diem. I would engage my emotions to the fullest extent. I would love more passionately, search for the most breathtaking thrills, cry until I couldn't anymore, and laugh till I lost my breath. I think the reason we're here is to fill the world with emotion, the 1 thing it doesn't already have
Well, I feel like I do try to live life to the fullest now, but with reservations. I feel like by knowing that this was really, honestly, truly it, I would totally throw inhibition to the wind: modesty, embarassment, and law (to a civil extent) would be gone.
Well reality came up to Mr. bdonski. the meaning of life is like saying there is a right way to do it or a wrong way. there is no right nor wrong, just the way you thing it's best done. we maybe hear to fix something that our "fathers" and "mothers" before us did. We dont live long so our kin must full fill what we started and try to finish it. if not there children may try until it is done. If it sound confusing its ok since life is drawed in the same way. choose the way you think it should be!
I think if true god believers find out that there is no god the world will turn into a mess. Many very religious people told me that if they knew there was no god they would rape if they want to, kill if they want to, they would feel they dont have to be as nice to people as they are now. and I think its a horrible thing made me be scared.
That is a scary thought! Personally I wouldn't want to know for sure if there is any sort of god or not. I tend to think there isn't, but I also think the mystery makes life more interesting.
No change. It's irrelevant whether there is something more after death. Some people need to think so in order to live a satisfied life. Some people need to think the reverse, for the same reason. It's mu.
Although I am catholic, I am not very religious, so I would move on.. and live like i normally do. However i think that since there is no hell, i think alott of people would commit crimes, as there will be no such thing as sin and there is nothing to fear.
It seems that our lives are engineered. All of our habits, attitudes, and emotions have been predetermined for advertising and general control. I hope we are just the sheep for this reason but I wonder. I've learned to experience as much as I can afford and try to radiate as much love as radically as I can. I like the deep bdonski thinking.
The huge unstated pretext of this question is "how could you know such a thing"? It would take a godlike being to categorically state that there is no God. Thus, I think the whole question is a bit circular in thought.
For me, the only rational lifestyle if I were to become an atheist is hedonism and the elevation of self. I don't see a rational base for compassion. Having said that, I would have difficulty not experiencing dread or depression. Typical existentialist quandries.
then i would probally not go to church i would still pray i would be more carfull in situations but i would definitely have a lot more stuff in my life insted of on youtube and xboxlive....
so if u died and nothin happens to your soul i meen your thoughts what heppens to those do u just disapear or is there actualy an eternity land behind your eyes thats is impossible to comprehend...
This really is a great question! And you answered with all the possible outcomes, each of which different people will succumb to. Personally,I already presume there's nothing there as there is no reason to believe there's anything there. This triggers the desire to know what IS out there, what is present in reality?Consequently, understanding more about Nature gives you,or in this case me, a greater satisfaction than just attending to fleeting whims, which everyone must entertain from time to time.
I'd still be responsible in love because I would not be able to deal with kids right now, nor termination of pregrancy. I wouldn't take more lovers because I'd still want to be loyal to who I love.
I might stop going to Church but then I'd probably miss the community...
I would not feel lost, because I know we are meant to lead a good life because happiness on Earth is all we have...
i would probally take into consideration other peoples belifes and morals and i would TAKE oppourtuinitys that were givven to me with the good, bad, and with love ...just take more that was offered and give more
I think thats a really important question because many ppl rely on these beleifs to keep them safe...safe from action and adventure and letting go. Whether you beleive in god or reincarnation or a universal power..or whatever...it all leads to this feeling of ease, that this life is not all, that could be good but it can also be bad. It can become pacivity and indifference. The question that you asked forces me to situatate myself in nothing but the present and see my life as my responsibility.
Nothing would change for me because I am already an atheist. But I think peoples belief in a god has such a grasp on their reality that it would be to devastating to know for sure that god doesn't exist, that they would rather not know at all.
The meaning of life was for you stupid americans to vote MCCAIN, to SAVE THE WORLD, but you rather have Monkey Boy aka Hitler aka Barack Obama as your leader ? Hope ? Its more like a Joke.
His first iniciative as a leader is to send 20,000 trops to Afganistan.. Someone lied to you guys..
Fuck change, please if someone from the KKK is reading this, shot the monkey man, he is in Washington Dc, in the BLACK House, former WHITE HOUSE.
our existence and related questions were never meant for us to know the answers to. If we knew, we would know to much-thus taking from our life experience.

I would probably feel that the river of teleology had run dry and that never in my life had thirst been so existential, so all-encompassing. But I know thirst only in the context of teleology, and I know God in the tides, in the water.
Thank you for making us think deep and profound thoughts, bdonski. Your wisdom is a guiding light.
In my case, I would go skydiving and bungee jumping, buy a pet tarantula, and drink a lot more Maker's Mark. But not so much that I died of alcohol poisoning; I would enjoy every second I have left, but I would like to have as many seconds left as possible.
Everyone believes in something. You live your life according to some ideal based on what you desire. That's where you start your journey - in the very place where your heart tells you it wants to go.
If anything nothing adds meaning. Religeon isnt about saying hi to god in person everyday, thus changing your life.
Religeon is of faith and hope, if you have faith and hope in your own personal ideals and philosophies -- You're not "hopeless" in life. You just don't believe in an un-absolute figure that created everything in existance for eons-of-trillions of miles away.
Just because you don't believe in god, doesn't mean you cannot believe in yourself.
We are always apart of everything. Even if there is no god. When we die, we become apart of the earth, which supplements a different type of life one day in the future. We may not be a "Thinking lifeform", but we do continue on.
I cant understand the believers who say that atheism doesnt offer anything and life without a intelligent designer is worth nothing. the posibility that life started as one in a googolplex chance to me makes life more precious than if it was given to us by a omnipotent diety. the knowledge that there truely is no god would make me happy. it would give me motivation to be all I can be and not just what god expects me to be.
I know, that there are reincarnations, "souls" and those things (although I'm not sertain for god lol).
But if you were right, I'd have a better life and would care more for my ONE life!

I'd kill more people. Thats all there is to it. Not because I think its cool, or something like that. But if there's anything Ive realized in my short life, its that I've almost never been as happy as I was the last time I killed an animal. Im just sick.
Id kill more people.

OrANGETuRD32 2 years ago
life is not a game, its meaningless nothing, after u die there is nothing, means you dont have good or bad choices, what you choose in life doesn't mean anything, so what would u do if u knew god doesn't exist, no reincarnation etc? u just put on a mask behave how u want and care about nothing, u play it like a game or just behave like a good boy should, it doesnt matter..

to live. why the is no one but figured this out
joel62295 2 years ago
There is no meaning to life, all it is, is a game that we are supposed to try to play but most of us never even start. During most of us make wrong turns, such as smoking, robbery, rape, or ect. Some times if you take a wrong turn you can never get back on track. On the way we pick up stuff, family, friends, boyfriends/girlfriends, and ect. So all together I think that life is more life a really big game of Pac Man. If you put it into perspective you will realize I'm right, message me for more.

So at a point where sleep is lost and time and darkness is left to ponder, what IF there was nothing, but our existence and none other... I'd just want to fall asleep and dream, holding the hands of the people I most care about.
Good day.

you answered that for me the first time you said it, no god, no reincarnation, no high life form...when we die, we're done, just our bodies left to decay, all i have come to believe through some years of living
however, that doesn't mean we have excuses to break the common rules (which are written and changed by us) or not experiment things life has to offer, or not study and find ways to go against the laws of nature. just live and sample what you may/may not like while you can.

Not really sure what I'd do. It'd be a whole different world altogether. I think the most desperate religious people would still hold on to their beliefs and deny it with some weird argument... given that religion seems to be more than often just grasping at straws trying to find some kind of meaning for this life.

I think the reason we're here is to fill the world with emotion, the 1 thing it doesn't already have
Love ya ben

If you don't belive in any god then what is keeping you from going "Carpe Diem" presently?
SarahJeanLoves 3 years ago
Well, I feel like I do try to live life to the fullest now, but with reservations. I feel like by knowing that this was really, honestly, truly it, I would totally throw inhibition to the wind: modesty, embarassment, and law (to a civil extent) would be gone.
and i'm agnostic as well.

If it sound confusing its ok since life is drawed in the same way. choose the way you think it should be!
chachiman24 3 years ago
I think if true god believers find out that there is no god the world will turn into a mess. Many very religious people told me that if they knew there was no god they would rape if they want to, kill if they want to, they would feel they dont have to be as nice to people as they are now. and I think its a horrible thing made me be scared.

It seems that our lives are engineered. All of our habits, attitudes, and emotions have been predetermined for advertising and general control. tstevenpaul 3 years ago

And athiesm doesn't dis-allow meaning.

The meaning to life is simple, still complex:
1st meaning to life, the overal meaning:
Progression (In every form)
2nd meaning to life, is perperson:
Morals and personality attributes their meaning
But overall, given this a lot of thought.
The human race's meaning falls down to a single word.
Progression.
