THis looks amazing. I wish I could someday do this as a hobby.
I do have one question though, what would happen if you are in a situation as the guy in this video and while cruising like superman you accidentally let go of the bar?
@speedgliding Thanks for the reply. I've never used a hang glider, this video was my first experience with it in general... and I got the impression that the guy's body (your?) was responsible for doing the maneuvering more than anything else, and if one were to let go of the bar, that you'd start rolling and loose control. :D
This looks like something extremely fun and inner peace defining! Next time I move to a new city, I will apply for jobs FIRST in places where this is possible!
wow, that was amazing footage. Hang gliding is one of my goals in the future, after i get a steady career and save up money i plan to buy a hang glider :)
I love it. It is all I want to do in my life. I'm 31 and broke but am saving every penny to do a lesson in dec, get my own glider and hopefully do anything comparible to what Cruising Torrey or Speedgliding member has done. great vid thanks for the inspiration.
Depends on your trim and such. (I'm assuming you're talking about the bar, yes?) Trim in this case is effecting your weight distribution on the glider, as well as control pressures. If you let go of the bar, normally you would just continue to fly straight and level (more or less) for a bit. Nothing too catastrophic.
Im just getting into the sport. I've decided to start taking lessons and pursue this since aviation has always been a childhood dream. Great videos man, keep posting them.
I am. I'm actually going to build an HG community site since I don't see a lot of HG sites that are well put together. Thought I might donate my time and skills to help give the sport more exposure that it deserves.
Its for the RC plane pilots, to get the attention of the clueless paraglider pilots who are oblivious to faster flying aircraft, and to notify spectators when landing.
Looks fake, but I believe it.

Where can I get a good cheap hanglider for beginners thats safe? I really want to take this up but all the hangliders are pretty exspensive.

@theartofbone - nothing would happen. The bar is the steering wheel. You would simply be left hanging from the apex of the glider in your harness.

The paragliders dont pay attention at that flying site, and often turn in front of you without looking. You need to get their attention.

I fly paragliders...and watching this video, got my mind wandering. What happens if you let go? Would you stall?
