You cant shift in a V8 supper car when the rears are locked, unless you use the clutch. It is obvious he hadnt locked them during the downshifting as the shifts were way to fast for using clutch. V8 supper cars need a certain amount of revs until can be shifted otherwise it wont let you shift. You must make all down shifts before exiting the corner otherwise you loose exit speed.
@Chvija1986 Yeah no problem i noticed some silly comments so thought clear things up. Also i noticed he did lock the rears for a split second then let the brake off to make the downshifts. Was a smart move that gave stability and rpm's for downshifting without clutch. Have a look again and you will notice when hits the brakes a little to heavy the ass end steps out to the left for a sec. Then the correction(Less brake) directly followed by downshifts. Some good driven tho
@SparrowNoblePoland russell is a legend, watch the v8 supercars.much better than circles in the us.do the polacks have a v8 race series, just curious is all
@r1inoz1 I didn't know that legends do not have trained impulse of downshift. No, we prefer going 200kph through the forest in turbocharged car with AWD on active differentials. It's called rallying.
@SparrowNoblePoland Umm if you actually watch more carefully, it looks as if hes locked the rear brakes, so the last thing you'd want to do is downshift. It's not that he's incompetent to downshit...
@HSVLVR I havent noticed, also seems strange that there was no sideways if the rear wheels were locked, so they must have been locked at low speed if they were actually, which do not explain no downshifting, also even with rear wheels locked all the time you normally downshift if the car is front wheel drive.
@HSVLVR I don't say I need to go sideways, I said it is rather strange not to loose stability if rear is locked. I bloody know that V8 racing car is not FWD, I was saing in general that you do downshift always in FWD. Also you can downshift with rear locked in RWD if you use the cluth. I'm not familiar with this racing sequential but i guess it must have turned into neutral when rear was locked and that is why you say that he cannot downshift.
@nattapolcha You wouldn't need to, you only need to revmatch into the gear you want to go in, not in every single gear you go through on your way down.
@sasaubers It's a sequential gearbox...think paddle shifters but with a lever instead. Forwards to upshift and backwards to downshift. After each gear change the lever must be moved back to neutral just like in a manual car. So he just downshifted 4 gears in like 1 second there haha
@IFlip18 no need to apologise brother, i was just correcting you for this specific car, i have no idea if Touring cars in Euro or the U.S run it differently? but the ozzy V8 Supercars do run it like this, i assume its coz of G forces, accelerating - bodys thrown back pull lever back (up change), braking - thrown foward push lever foward.
Wtf ??? did that even go into gear ? shit man if it did, well f..k me. lol that was super fast ass downshifting whether it went in or not, I couldn't even do half of that with the car not running or even if I pretended to. ha ha lol. Damn dude you are good ...
@beefyyamaha its a pretty standard 6 speed gearbox with a sequential linkage just forward and back movement like a v gate shifter, you have to clutch down and up gears as usual, there is a micro switch activated when you up shift that cuts ignition for the same time it takes to change gear, but for downshifting to still need to rev match(James Courtney) or use the clutch (Jamie Whincup)
now if somebody could do this with a clutch and stick, he would be elevated to the status of legend. when a human can keep that up for 3 hrs on the ring.. i have alot more respect for standards. i wouldn't really miss paddle shifting. masterful and perfect shifts are a thing to behold.
@800hennessy yeah, anything from outside the states. us in the states are too closed off. too single minded when it comes to this stuff. they dont know what they are missing. it really pisses me off that i can turn to espn and get some lame ass billboards on wheels going around in circles, but i have to wait forever and then pay 20 bucks to see how a REAL man drives. we need to open up and meet the rest of the world.
@severrnijKGU Right? The only racing I like here is Indy and American Le Mans series. But nothing beats the real Le Mans. They don't even have 24 hour coverage here. They play stupid ass infomercials all night. It's horseshit.
That must be his masturbating hand... LOL

Something similar to an EMCO sequential gear box. No clutch on up or down shift's, clutch only on take off and stoping. Check out ( Zo6 Emco ).
