Lol how could you watch this video and say rats are gross? They literally have the faintest odor EVER. Well, females do anyway. When I bathe mine, they smell like NOTHING after. They're odorless and only stink if you neglect changing their cage!
@twiston123 indeed very true i hve only one rat a male, dad wont let me get wnother one :( he scent sometimes around my bed but its easy to clean :) u only smell it abit just move him out the room and spray some deodrant all done :)
rats generally only go to the toilet out of their cage through fear, mine dont do it when there playing on the floor because they are confident and always wait until they go back to their cages :)
Ive had my rats out of their cages for many hours with none of them going to the toilet, they will even sleep outside their cage when they become very comfortable with you :)
Aww they are so cute, I'd love to have some. I'm a bit a rodent nut lol. Got bitten by a rat in college though (ouch! give me hamster teeth any day lol), and I think it's made me a bit nervous with them :(
Very unusual for a rat to bite you they only do it if they are scared or trapped. None of mine have ever bitten. They are the friendliest pets ever! :)
@hamsterngerbils Sometimes rats who haven't been well-socialized as babies grow up to be slightly fearful of humans, but they usually don't. I've never been REALLY bitten by a rat. Nothing worse than "Oops, I thought you were food :0" nibbles anyway, and those don't really hurt.
Hi i live in the UK and we have a wide selection of rats, all of my rats have come from pet stores and many are rescue rats too. You might be able to find a rat breeder local to you on the internet :)
Hiya, most of my rats have come from pet stores and a few of them are rescue rats. The types of rats i have are: Hooded, berkshire, silvered, russian blue, huskey and roan and 4 of my rats are dumbos :)
A lot of ferret toys work well for our Ratties. Thanks for letting me know where you got the tents. One day I will buy one of those cat stands as well. I just love that idea.

I like the video. The tent is cool, I would like to get one for my Coda. Is that thing they are playing on for cats? I like that idea. I am getting some ideas from you. Nice to see I am not the only one who would do anything for the Ratties.
I bought the tent on ebay, it came with 2 big igloos aswell. they are quite big intended for ferrets i think, i have them scattered about when there out, good to keep them warm if they are ill too. and what there playing on is a cat stand yes, they love it, good for climbing. I am pleased you are getting ideas lol :)
Very pretty girls :). Watch the eye patches on the darker of the huskey one (coco i assume?) ... bet those patches will vanish completely in the next few months :P. Certainly happened on both of mine and didn't even know until i watched old videos of them :P. Lol@ the water ... its not a bad start, i promise.

All I would do is just leave their cage open, if they had to go, they would go back in their cage to do so.

where did you get your rats? i don't know any place close by that has any except petsmart. they don't have a good selection. Mostly hairless rats.
