  • Still applies to today.

  • Yes, yes it does. That's part of the reason why Pierre is such a visionary. The other part is black magic.

  • Great video!

    See you at the top,

    Kevin Cook

  • When is Pierre's book coming out? I must learn from the master and develop a profitable web 2.0 site. I finally got my rounded corners to work, so I'm halfway there!

  • All I know is that it's not coming out soon enough.

  • All I know is that it's not coming out soon enough.

  • cool i'll make sure i get it off of bittorrent when it comes out

  • bah... Web3.1415 will be the best thing since the wheel!

  • Wheels have rounded corners -- coincidence?

  • Ha, nice. And I do take offence to that myspace page, the images the better! And the objective with myspace pages is to have the user go into a n epileptic coma because of all the images and flashing colors.

  • I can't believe so many people aren't getting it ... Pierre and Ian are fictitious, this is parody

    (and funny as hell)

  • that was a triumph!

but 13 comments in 2 years?? with all that o'reilly colbert tagging?? - man i detect youtuber failage! mass genocide, their only way out!

just out of interest, are any of your audience winning the interwebs yet?

  • thanks ;) i suspect it was just because of how long it was. no one wants to watch 18minutes of anything on youtube -- even a genius like pierre francois...

  • Very very funny. Loved it!

  • Thanks! Pierre Francois is a visionary. I hear he's also working on a book...

  • question, that "box" beside him, was that just on the projecter next to him, just enhanced? and was that a prank or on purpose

  • It was originally just the slideshow projected on a monitor, but the quality wasn't good enough on the recording, so I did an overlay with the actual slide images. What you're seeing in each boxframe is what was on the screen at the time.

And yes, it was very much on purpose ;) Pierre Francois is a guru.

  • This ROCKS. You kept my attention for 12 minutes. Well done.

    Polytope13 didn't get the sarcasm.

  • Excellent. Thanks, I do wonder if I should have edited it down better.

And don't burst polytope13's bubble ;) he's doing such a good job chastising me.

  • One more tip: If you're trying to do serious business, adhere to serious business attire. Aren't you supposed to be the "consultant" in these projects? Why then are you dressed like the freelance, LSD fueled graphics designer?

  • One tip for good karma in your next life: if you want a better developed brain, you can adhere to your mother's uterus for a few more days.

  • Web 2.0 is just like the "Web 1.0" bubble except without the vast amounts of money being thrown at useless people like this here "consultant with 20 years of experience, an MBA and former used car salesman."

Here are a couple business tips to brush up with on that MBA: Don't use self-depreciating humor against your own product or services. And don't criticize Google's website when your Internet success does not come anywhere near Google's.

  • he had like 8 people in the audience, so hows that a bubble (that's about to burst as your argument implies)?

didn't you hear the man say "It is a REVOLUTION" you f00l - no one gives a flying fuck about your rules on presentation style.

and in anticipation of your google comment, "yahoo will buy anything".

your old ass shall be buried.

  • Would be better edited down, but hilarious nonetheless. Great content!

  • editing? what's editing? ;-)

  • This guy is HILARIOUS, hahaha.!!! Its all so true!!

  • Thanks.

PS, I hear Pierre Francois has a book coming out in a few months ;-)

  • Just to let you know that this is one of the most funny videos I've seen here :P

  • Many thanks, acidphobia. I trust you've told all your friends. I'm trying to get on Colbert before I die ;-)

  • You can put a subtitle in french please ?

  • If I spoke French, I'd love to. I suppose I could do subtitles in German, but it's not exactly a language of comedy ;-)

  • With subtitles in English ?

  • Nicely done!

  • Thanks. Pierre might have a come back one of these days...

  • I found this yesterday but only finished it today... (looks like I blew the chance for first comment by going to sleep). Very enjoyable "presentation 2.0" style of delivery.

  • Heh - it's a bit long, I know. That's what prolly was the death knell for this vid on YouTube, but oh well. Glad you liked it - thx for taking the time to let me know.

  • who wrote this presentation? very creative =D how come it's here since 2006 with no comments, and only 7 ratings! It's a great, funny video! congrats!

  • Thanks! Didn't think anyone was still watching this old thing. I (Alexis Ohanian) was inspired by a real pitch I saw during one of many web2.0 startup events and wished his slides had a Colbert's "The Word"-style commentary. After I wrote what Pierre would say, I handed the script over to Aaron Swartz (Ian Gilbert) and asked him to take care of the snarky slides.

  • Thanks! I suspect it hasn't been rated much because of how long it is -- YouTubers have short attn spans :-)

Admittedly, I stole the format from Colbert's The Word segment, but the idea formed while watching a startup presentation that desperately needed some wise-ass slides in the bg.

I (Alexis Ohanian) wrote all my parts (Pierre) and asked Aaron Swartz (Ian, who introduced) to write the snarky slides.
