  • this is beautiful..

  • Basically the story is a beutiful multitalented (naked lol) women emerges from the woods to a mans farm, she says to tell nobody her name or that she exists or she will have to leave. at the kings races he proclaims nobody could win him in the race, the man says he has a wife hes so good at everything she could, she is pregent at the time but a word of honor forces her too against her will. She gives birth in the race and trampels her twins and curses the man of ulster with birth pangs

  • Any way we would be able to get the notes and/or sheet music for this piece? Would be much appreciated! Great job btw

  • Dear Murphy: A lovely song you played. I am a learner and student of the Tin Whistle. I enjoy your music, it touches my heart as many have said. Thank you so much for sharing.

  • i knew i had heard this song before. its "Ar Eireann Ni Neosainn Ce hl" a realy beautiful song.

  • Megan, what are the lyrics? In English, please- my Gaelic is hopeless:)

  • I'm sorry, but I don't think I am of much help in English -- or in Irish. I don't know the names at hand, but I'm certain there are internet sites that have that sort of thing -- lyrics and such. Good luck in locating the lyrics, and thanks a thousand times for watching our video!

    ~Megan

    ~Megan

  • man i gotta o tell you that when you seek for a good song played with a lot of soul you have to be aware not to judge the "click" you give to your mouse by the look of the hat of the man with the whistle :)

  • Thanks, I think . . .

    ~Megan

  • Very Nice, I like that song! You did a great job!

  • Your playing is absolutely beautiful...such a haunting melody!!

  • Very beautiful. Music like this keeps me practicing my whistle. Very nicely done.

  • jeez why am i wasting my time trying to play celtic style songs on a harmonica? nah i love harmonica, but this is brilliant.

  • We've known a couple of musicians who play the music on harmonica - it can be wonderful. If you love the harmonica then by all means keep with it. Thanks for watching and for taking the time to post.

    ~Megan

  • Nice playing. Beautiful sound!

  • Thanks for watching and for the lovely comments.

    ~Megan

    ~Megan

  • great job man! loved it!

  • Thanks for watching.

    ~Megan

  • listening to you play the tin whistle and listening to some other people on here has made me want to play it, it was funny because my mom started laughing a little and then i started talking more how its the only music that reaches out to me, my mom never looked at me more seriously and told me ok that i can get one and take lessons or get books

  • That's grand!!! The most important thing is to have fun with it, and to work on those tunes that mean something and that "reach out" to you - that is, after all, why you want to play. Very important to listen to the music every chance you get and then listen some more, and hum the tunes so you get a feel for the rhythm. Let the music fill your heart and your soul until it feels you will burst if you don't play it, and then let it flow from your whistle.

    ~Megan

  • dont knock me for my spiritual beliefs

  • Meg:

Nice recording. Here in the 'States lots of our folk music comes from Irish and also Highland trad. There's loads of similarities. A lot of us here got the Irish blood and when we play the folk tunes here it's like continuing an age-old musical history. Or so we feel, anyways. Good stuff.

  • Thanks for watching and commenting. Will says there's much truth in what you say.

    ~Megan

  • young man fell secretly in love with a girl. Too poor to support her and too shy to propose, he went abroad to seek his fortune. However, when he returned to claim his beloved, shattered to find her married to his brother. Still in love, he composed this song to her but, for obvious reasons, refused to reveal her name. Some say he joined the priesthood.

  • love the tone, its great for slow airs, that's in low A right? as in the A below middle C?

  • I believe that is correct.

  • Thanks for your wonderful comments! I'm sad to say that I'm not that knowledgeable about German folk music. Irish trad has had a global influence over the past few decades, and in that manner can be said to be as much global music as it is Irish. Much of the music does seem to create a warm feeling in the soul. We enjoy the music on your channel too, btw.

  • *cries* That is so touching, now I want to go home again thank you. Maybe I'll pick up the violin or piano to play this tone when I practice again. Thank you you've inspired me.

  • Hi. This is a special tune for Will and I. So happy that you enjoyed it in that way! It does produce a certain longing. Thanks so much.

    ~Megan

  • It doesnt get better. I could sit in that kitchen with 10 beers and enjoy my afternoon like none in my first 46 years

  • Thank you, Dennis. I'm happy that we all had the chance to get together - even if it was long distance. :-)

    ~Megan

  • Thanks for all of your kind words!

    ~Megan

  • Well played. Inspiring.

  • Thanks for watching and commenting.

    ~Megan

  • That was lovely, it really doesn't matter if it is spelt in Irish or English Ar Eirinn Ni Neosfainn Ce Hi or For Ireland I'll Not Tell her Name. It is a great tune {song} and that was brilliantly played, very gifted. thanks for posting it.

  • Thank YOU.

    ~Megan

you have a good feeling for irish music so i guess there is a conection

  • Could you send me the tunes??? ^^ Please.

  • Hi. I'm not sure I know... If you're meaning the dots or musical notation for this tune, we don't have it. Sorry. I think it is in Francis O'Neill's Big Yellow Book, though.

    Thanks for watching.

    ~Megan

  • Ce Hi - Ar Eirinn Ni Neosfainn Ce Hi

  • Thanks to everyone for your kind words about Will's playing.

    ~Megan

  • beautiful

  • Ar Eirinn Ni Neosfainn

  • o my gos i love that song

  • That one is nice also.

  • i have that same hat.

  • Yes, this song has a special enchantment. It makes me to wish to go to your country.

  • Hello. I am a Linuxica's Friend and play the violin too. I am in agree with Linuxica. It is a magic song that makes me fly and dream... and to smile.

    Congratulations.

  • Why thank you. Any friend of Linuxica's is a friend of mine.

    Keep smiling!

    ~Megan

  • Beautiful. What kind of whislte is that? Where do you get tthem?

  • Hey, Russ. That's a Dixon whistle in the key of A. It gives a slightly more mellow tone than the standard D whistle so often used in ITM, which is fine when playing alone. I'm really not sure where Will got his Dixon. If you google under "Dixon whistles" & "sale" or "vendor" you'll undoubtedly find several sales outlets.

    ~Megan

  • Beautiful tune and beautiful playing.

There's some kind of magic in them, I feel good after listening to it. Thanks for sharing.

  • Thank YOU for your kind words, Tonia. I agree with you . . . many of these old tunes contain a certain magical or spiritual power that often connects with something deep within each of us. I'm pleased that you enjoyed it.
