At the beginning of the series it was mentioned that he knew 23 languages. However, as the series went on, he picked up more languages. I am not sure when it was mentioned, but at some point it is revealed later in the series that he knows 26.

@TheIcelandicPatriot It is not possible for a human to learn 26 languages separately, however if many of them are similar, then there are tricks that can allow you to dramatically reduce the amount of memory they take up. So....26 is pretty high but I'll bet someday somebody will manage it.

In '1969' (season 2) before going to see Catherine, they mention that they need to go in disguise. Daniel then says 'Well, I speak 23 different languages. Pick one.' (I believe it was 23, anyway.) So by season two he could already speak more than 20.

First off, he's a linguist, so it would be logical to assume at least 20 languages. Also it depends on which season daniel you are talking about. In season one he's pretty well versed in greek, egyptian, latin, and thats about it. By season ten he fluently speaks and reads ancient, snake, and many many more, not to mention he was ascended more than once and in those times knew lots of shit.
