@hute321 Plenty of US soldiers wear Specs. Like one other guy said, many of them wear spectacles and attempt the Ranger Course. Looking like a secondary school nerd dosent matter, what matters is whether or not they have the mental strength and endurance to do what is necessary.

What vocation were you during your NS? But gotta agree with you, the recruit who got his maid to carry his field pack for him is a really bad indicator of the way things are now.

I was in the Infantry regiment and i have serious doubt about the ability of this nerds to protect and serve our country, these boys should buff up or they will get their ass kicked in times of difficulty.

@hute321 I agree that they dont look awe inspiring or physically tough. Since you were in Infantry, i am pretty sure you would have seen something like this. The 'buffer', 'fitter' guy, during outfield does not perform as well as the guy who looks like a nerd.

In the end, its all down to mental strength and carrying on even though it sucks. Gotta admit la, being buff makes things easier :D

Groin Abrasion, the SAF soldier most hated affliction.

That is the US ALICE pack system. I have one of those. Its quite old technology, been around since the 80s. Good to stuff alot of kit ,but will dig into your shoulders and lower back.

and groin abrasion is nothing. ass abrasion hurts more

@xian1234 The "old" field pack actually allows each trooper to bring more items. The field pack issued during BMT is meant for conventional units where they don't operate far from the safety and supply of the main force. Recce and Commandos use these field packs so they can bring a lot more stuff. They are suppose to be working alone and surviving with what they can carry.
