i might start listening to metallica JUST BECAUSE of the interlude solo. sounds so freakin amazing, the rest is rubbish! man... wonder what key it is in.. sounds like normal minor/major chords.
well i dont listen to metal, i just REALLY like the interlude solo(acually i listen to a little Apocolyptica, fantastic cellos!). i normally listen to blues/rock, alternative punk (a little) and jazz/blues, and metal is a lot different, mainly the music like scale and chord preferences.
well metallica sort of went through different phases... you should listen to some songs off of the Black Album (like The Unforgiven, Nothing Else Matters, Sad but True).
it's rubbish cause it's not metallica playing it and you cant hear the whole band. dont get me wrong your really good and i loved you cover but even you cant think your as good as kirk.
Good job, just downpick ALOT more, less alternate!!!! Don't be afraid to use your pinkie more, it makes the interlude easier. Also, for the main riff, where you're in first position, you don't need to move your hand down to get the B5 powerchord. Just spider chord it with your middle and pinkie fingers. This economizes your left hand motion. Your slides on the second part of the main riff sounded great, though. Repost this once you get the downpicking! I'd love to see the progress. Keep rocking!
That's nothing to be ashamed of. It's Metallica! They're playing that stuff at 220 bpm and it's downpicked, that's pretty insane! The best way to get good at fast downpicking is to play this song, though. That's what everyone I've asked has said, and it's what I tell everybody who asks me. Nothing builds right hand picking prowess like Metallica. Some people say Slayer is better, but they sacrifice clarity for speed, I like Metallcia's method. It's the perfect blend of speed and sound.
im sorry to say but in the middle of the interlude the part that james specificaly plays was off the notes you did play were right but you dident play all of the notes he did and it dident sound like you palmmuted the part after the interlude but the solo it self was alot better than when i play it and it was really nice so i conradulate you on that.
Downstrokes give you the heavy thrash tone, the fact their "limiting" doesn't matter when it comes to rhythm. It also allows you to build speed and makes triplet picking a lot easier (ie: Battery).
u r really good .. ive been playing for roughly 7 months and i know like a bunch of songs and ur right u might need to turn up the volum e a little.. lol
the intro is chromatic .... after thats its on D major ( D be-pop ) scale

Yeah dude it's supposed to be downpicked. That's one reason I can't cover this... 8 minutes of that downpicked? It's so brutal on your arm.
But besides that minor (well major) detail, good!

hey thx for the comments and ya im currently working on using downstrokes and its kinda hard also my arm gets tired all the time which sucks =(

Gotta' start slow and work your way up, make sure to stay relaxed... takes awhile to get it up to speed.

Stop alternate picking! Metallica / most thrash in general is all downstrokes. Other than that it was decent.

This is one of the few songs that was played alternate picking by Hetfield, check the videos. Great Job!!

Search for the Master of Puppets lesson Hammett did. All downstrokes.

Right on. You did a good metal stance in the solo without screwing it up, kickass. Great job, keep it up. =)
